Audition videos are now live on YouTube

I’ve noticed big brother has been removing all the spammy comments from their instagrams where people are like ‘#teamella’ ect and made a comment saying not to tag potential housemates but to go and like on YouTube

I know they’re pushing the “everyday Australian” angle but I do think the general consensus is that we also need a bit of spice. Not really volatility but a bit of sass, a bit of something extra, the naturally hilarious types. The type of people that don’t have to tell you they just are. Not really seeing that in any of the videos.

I think it gives us viewers a small glimpse and insight into just how much crap they have to sift through to find decent housemates. Brock is the one that stood out to me the most. I could see him being someone from this forum in terms of his love for bb.
I like this angle… Pulling back the curtain is something that’s really been missing from the format. If not included in the actual show then it at least seems like a great way to utilize social media. Especially on a platform like TikTok where DIY videos are extremely popular.

They must have been told that they need to get the most amount of votes because this girls had so many of her friends tag her on the instagram post saying to vote for her

they disabled comments on the first batch but forgot for this round! There's also still too much strategy talk in all these ;-;

Edit: they originally uploaded 41, and now there's only 39 new ones

having a quick look at these it is obvious so far a lot of them have gone with the lets wear PJ's approach thinking they would be original and different and they really were not! If you are not Sara-Marie then it goesn't have the same vibe for me!

Also Angelo from Ipswitch looks popular - I wouldn't mind seeing more of him.

I don’t want to watch a group of Aussie true blue larrakins, I’d be watching channel 7 if I wanted to watch mindless bogans on TV

IDK the fact that so many people over explain… Like don’t tell, show! Like if you’re going to say that you have a sense of humour because you’re gay then you better show me why that is. Also people who are clearly reading from a script or at least bullet points. Like if you’re not comfortable sitting talking to a camera practice by having someone film you! If you make the cast that’s what your life is going to be for months. Good thing I’m not in casting.

A few of the people that feature in the YouTube applications are stating they have been 'shortlisted'. Do you think they were given instructions around these videos or they are making assumptions that they have been selected for something haha.

It's also notable that they're all just talking to camera and not doing wacky outdoor audition antics as per previous seasons. And all in portrait mode.

If it was purely for marketing, I get only sharing portrait to keep the consistency for socials but having a few (Gabi, Shane, Paris) all specifically stating they had been shortlisted had me questioning it. Others though seem to have been completely surprised by their video being uploaded, so unsure if any of them have actually had any contact with producers.

Also wondering where they will draw the line on 'content creators' or users with large followings and if it's something they want to avoid or not. We have Angleo (200k+ followers), and a couple of others with 40k+ followers as well as that guy who was on FBoy Island. A couple of them have even given instructions to their followers, saying 'every like on the video helps me get into the house'.

Perhaps this season will use socials in terms of actually voting in evictions so are gearing people up for that?

Yes, wondering if that's the instruction when auditioning. Easy to forget too in the original era of videotape auditions they literally were on videotape and from an era when not everyone had a camcorder in their pocket!
