Alone Australia

Anyone watching the new season here?

My Dad mentioned it’s on so I have catching up to do. Let’s get your thoughts so far….

I've still never checked out the Aussie version. I know it doesn't matter what season to watch, but what would people recommend?

Go with S1 first. It's in Tassie, while S2 is in NZ. Food in both seasons is a bit problematic, especially in NZ where there were pretty tight restrictions on what they can kill. But the scenery was beautiful and you could often hear the native birds, always makes me a bit homesick for NZ.

I'll load it on my tablet. I've got an 11 hour day time flight next month to do. Might be a good show to get absorbed into.

Some slow TV to get you through a slow flight.

When I discovered Alone a few years back, I got suckered in and would watch multiple episodes a night and quickly got through many seasons. I did burn myself out on it, which is why I never checked out the Aussie. Haven't watched the last couple of US seasons. Hopefully I can get sucked into it. Imagine I binged the whole season, that'd be a good 8 and a half hours of the flight time!

I do doubt I could last, and I find on flights you do need to shake up whatever you hope can captivate you.

I'll also load a season of Strike Back for something more fast past absorbing. Also load up my phone with podcasts, audiobooks and as I've got the premium YouTube a bunch of videos on that.

I also reckon Arrested Development might be a good comedy to throw in the mix for variety.

I don't think I actually considered an 11 hour flight when I booked my trip. I just went, "the option without a stop over." The return flight is over night, so that'll be easier, maybe.

Omg Celeidh. Drinking unboiled water, tsk tsk. I feel like she is on way out.. After becoming my winner pick. Now this…

Yet she has the best camp, most well fed and most vibrant looking of the bunch.

Shits fucked!!

Warning: spoilers ahead if you have not watched episode 4 yet then skip my post.

That’s quite devastating. The work she has done in the surrounds is arguably the most impressive in the Australian series so far. If I wanted someone to help me survive I would pick her lol

In terms of that awesome trap she did, I wish they showed us more about how discovery of that stream and more about how she put it together, I feel like it fast forwarded a lot and there would be a lot to unpack there.

You can certainly get the worst end of the draw in Alone. You might get the swampy arse end of the lake with dead trees sticking out everywhere and where no living thing dares to venture. A stream with trout is an awesome bonus.

Was Eva in that scenario or was she just not good at fishing I wonder?

I also identified with Eva in the whole substance abuse thing and partying thing so I was hoping for her to get a bit further, so a bit sad about her exit.

Have you got any winner picks or favorites Timmy?

Eva really seemed to have drawn the short straw location wise. I assume each locale must have some pros and cons, but I'm not sure what the pros of hers were. Full credit to her for lasting 16 days or whatever with no protein though. That's impressive in itself.

I liked Matt, but he kept talking about his family from the start, so his tapping was inevitable. I was surprised he made it through the first, and then the second episode but he got there in the end.

I hope Ceilidh can remain in the game. Very silly and basic mistake to drink unboiled water out there. She's been absolutely killing it so far food-wise so it would be a huge shame if they pull her.

The kiwi trapper guy Shay seems really hapless so far but I hope he succeeds with his trap soon. Otherwise he'll never live it down.

I think Muzza is the one to watch. I saw someone on Reddit saying "Muzza is like all of my uncles rolled into one super bogan" 🤣

This season is easily the best AU one so far.
