Big Brother back in 2025 on 10! AND LIVE!

Thanks I probably should have googled that - I had taken some pain killers for my back and wasn't entirely thinking lol

Sounds like the place is going to look great! I was just looking at a show called Crazy fun house which was set in an abandoned theme park and I was imagining a Big brother House with that kind of theme, especially if it is built in a studio/warehouse

I'm choosing blind optimism.

If C10 progress with a short series in 2025, they'll be going all out on making the show a success so advertisers get on board for a longer run in 2026.

I'm talking a strong, dynamic cast. Good tasks that bring interesting moments out of said cast (including lots of overnight tasks to drive round-the-clock content and also make housemates grumpy from sleep deprivation). Great engagement through social media (TikTok/IG Live?) to drive viewers for the nightly show. Creating buzz-creating moments.

On jobs website Adzuna, the ad for Big Brother producers & editors is tagged as 'Gold Coast, 4217'.

According to Australia Post, this postcode covers the suburbs:
  • Benowa
  • Bundall
  • Chevron Island
  • Isle of Capri
  • Main Beach
  • Surfers Paradise
4217 may simply be a placeholder, particularly as these are central Gold Coast suburbs.

As for the possible shorter season, I'm not thrilled about that. Hopefully 10 can find a way to make it work (such as a celebrity edition) and leave the door open for a proper 10-12 week length series for 2026. And don't even think about scheduling an eviction every single night! 😬

Nothing really new in this article, bar the fact that Queensland is the location, they very briefly teased Dreamworld.

“It’ll be bigger, better, and bolder than ever before and we are thrilled to welcome Mel Tracina as host.” 🙄

Hopefully this short run is possibly caused by the holdback throwing a spanner in the works and the 2026 season will be normal lengthened. As we saw in bb2020 when channel 7 had their first series run for 39 days during Covid and then 2021 and 2022 both had 9 week runs.

If it is short they need to schedule and cast it with that in mind, not do what BBUK and throw in enough HMs for a series twice as long without scheduling extra live evictions.
They’d essentially have to do at least two evictions per week for the entire series to feel somewhat complete and even then at 4 weeks we’d have virtually no time to get to know the HM’s.

Also hoping they expand for future series isn’t ideal… I can almost guarantee they’ll never get the series anywhere near where it should be. Decent ratings will pretty much confirm whatever misguided belief 10 have about the series that led to this decision. Bad ratings will simply confirm the idea that BB is a dead format in Australia without looking at why the series actually failed.

That postcode is also right next door to dreamworld (Coomera) and movieworld (Maudsland)

Now that BB is back with 10 and going back to the OG format, what do you guys think is the chance of finally getting the old episodes on something like 10play?

Actually a 24/7 tiktok live stream sounds like it could be hella good to captivate some of the phone scrollers

I’m doubtful. Not only would it take up a shit ton of space but duty of care to part HM’s. It’s unfortunate but some people don’t the difference between the current day and stuff that happened decades ago. Also a bit unethical considering 10 is the only one who’d be expected to make any money off of it. With that I should also note HM’s would have been at least paid a weekly stipend for their time on their original series and had expenses paid for any future appearances so don’t come at me for saying they signed up for anything other than the show airing more than just once.

Do other countries have their past series available to watch on demand? I think I may have seen BBUS released their series on DVD but could be mistaken. I feel some Australian production companies lack the whole nostalgia aspect. Once it's aired, it's gone. Or maybe BB was just the odd one out. They'd surely have all the episodes archived somewhere.

On another note, I am a bit concerned about how sensitive people can be these days. I worry that it's going to take ONE minor, controversial interaction, and people will be up in arms, demanding the show be cancelled.

Outside of North America I don’t believe so… Maybe ITV has archived their past seasons on ITVX but I could be wrong but definitely nothing past 2023.

Yeah that's actually a good point, the stuff from back in the day would not be something people would look kindly on, they could do a disclaimer at the start about it being a product of its time but people would still have their pitchforks out I am sure. Oh well, since the only way I can figure out how to re-watch the old seasons is those blurry copies on youtube, time to get out the mac and start doing some AI upscaling to make it watchable on my TV.
