Doctor Who

There is also a rumour about the dude from Family of Blood being a contender for Dr, he also plays Wil Scarlett on Robin Hood.
I just hope all of this juggling keeps DT, he is a total Who addict and adores being the Dr so there is some hope.

I don't get why they would consider changing Drs if DT plays the part so well, coupled with the fact that he loves it as well!? Obviously there's been quite a few Drs in the history of DW (of which I'm still discovering), however why fix something if it aint broke?

I, personally, am rather fond of the idea of David Tennant staying on for stretch to rival, if not surpass Tom Baker's reign as the Doctor. The longer each actor stays on in the role, the longer the series will be able to survive. If everyone pulled an Eccleston on us, we would be on our twelfth Doctor now!!!

Yep, they need someone and it may as well be the lovely Tennant, to establish a good solid couple of years of the Doc to give it a good chance of running for decades again.

What did you think Of DT as a woman? Quite attractive, I thought, although a little too much eyebrows.

^^He scrubbed up quite well I thought. But you know, I love him any old way so he's hit in my books regardless :p

Here's the latest on Dr Who from the BBC. You will all be pleased to know that DT is staying. I'm sure he'll be a great Hamlet. ;)

'Doctor Who' Stops Clock
Show, Tennant will take a break in 2009
September 4, 2007

David Tennant on 'Dr. Who'The Tardis is going into the shop for a while after next year, and there's no certainty about who'll be driving it after that.

The BBC announced Monday that "Doctor Who" will take a break between its fourth and fifth seasons, meaning that aside from a few specials, there will be no regular episodes in 2009. It's also not clear, according to multiple reports in the British media, if star David Tennant will return for the show's fifth season in 2010.

A BBC spokesperson declined comment on Tennant's status for the fifth season. The show's fourth season is in production now and is scheduled to premiere in the U.K. in 2008. "Doctor Who" airs on both the Sci Fi Channel and BBC America in this country.

Tennant is reportedly in line to play Hamlet for Britain's Royal Shakespeare Company in the summer and fall of 2008, which would preclude him doing a full season of "Doctor Who" for 2009. The BBC is planning to produce three specials featuring Tennant as the Time Lord to air in '09.

If Tennant were to exit the series after that, it would follow a long "Doctor Who" tradition of periodically casting a new actor in the lead role. Tennant is the second Doctor in the new incarnation of the show, following Christopher Eccleston, and the 10th person to play him over the series' long history.

Well it comes down to the simple fact of the actor not being available or wanting to continue in the role.

Eccleston only planned to play the Doctor for one reason with one of the reasons floating around that he "didn't want to be typecast as previous DW actors had been".

DW is a ratings success in the UK, it's turning a profit but there are some things getting a little stale. Giving it a year off (aside from a couple of specials) not only give the BBC a chance to plan better for the next season, but it increases their chances of getting Tennant to continue as he's been able to take on other projects.

I see it as nothing but a good thing. :D

Oh and i'd like to announce that today, I began my classic Who DVD collection with the ordering of "Revelation of the Daleks" and "Remembrance of the Daleks".

Not sure if i'll get EVERY dvd release. At this stage i'm just going to concentrate on Dalek releases.

^^I'm working on my list at the moment, and then I'm going to give it to hubby. Not only is Christmas just around the corner, but so is my birthday! :D

Which series are the two collections that you've ordered? I'm going to start my collection from the beginning of DT's reign with Rose as I missed all episodes prior to the Cybermen.

Forget the Daleks and Cybermen.... I am awaiting the return of the 'Mighty Sea Devils'...

Sea Devils rock. Silurians too, to a lesser degree. Neither were done justice in the 80's story "Warriors Of The Deep", but they could potentially kick ass.

The problem I see is that they've not been able to get the commitment out of Tennant to continue in the role, so why bother having a gap year when we may well lose him anyway? Anyway we'll all just have to wait and see.

I noticed the ABC advertising this week's episode (Utopia) tonight and they bleeding well give away the "surprise" reveal of the show. I can't understand why preview makers insist on spoiling shows. Grrr...
