Doctor Who

No I too miss Christopher Eccleston and it's a pity he decided to leave
so early in the series. He was had a hard edgy feel to the way he played
the Doctor.

I felt the same way when I first started watching the second season. Over time though, David Tennant has really grown on me and I almost prefer him to Christopher Eccleston. And not to be shallow, but he's also a bit gorgeous, which really does add to the appeal :p

Hmmm, just finished the 3rd season and...

I don't like Martha.I've tried to but I don't and it's not just because I adored Rose... I really don't think Freema whats-her-name is a very good actor. I thought she'd grow on me but she hasn't. Hopefully it's true about her leaving.

Other thoughts... So great when Jack came back into it. I absolutely love the scene where the Doctor tells him he's a fixed point in time and they talk about Rose and stuff. As much as I love Torchwood, I can't help wishing John Barrowman was a regular in DW. Him and David Tennant work really well together and he adds so much to any episode he's in.

I also absolutely adore The Master. John Simm has to be one of the most likable/wonderful/awesome bad guys in any tv show ever. It's sort of a shame he's already played the Master, because if ever David Tennant left, I can imagine he'd be a great replacement.

Also, Jack as the Face of Boe?!!? WTF? :D

All round, the most patchy of the three seasons. Higher highs (Blink, Human Nature/Family of Blood and the last three episodes) and much lower lows (Pretty much the first 7 episodes) than the two seasons previous.

Still, one of the best shows on tv. Amazing stuff.

Oh dear LB, oh dear. Do you remember the pages from the Sun newspaper (I think) available on the internet which featured simulated "acts" with a Dalek and a model? Might go trawling for them.....

oh no sanchez you going to paste in here Dr Who porn? lol too funny

Wow, just wow.

I just watched 'Blink' and it has to rate as one of the best episodes ever. It's so well done. It's......astonishing.

Funninonebabe, now I understand why your sig is the way it is.

Haha, love the Whumour, LB. And I see CS is up to his old tricks - I'm sure it was you who posted the Dalek porn link the first time I saw it. I sent it too my dad, and I NEVER thought I'd be sharing porn with my dad. lol

I am never going to wait for DW again. Thanks to ABC's delay, I haven't listened to my DW podcasts for months because of spoilers. I can't check DW sites, because of spoilers. I only skim this thread, to avoid spoilers. And despite all this, I've gone and accidentally spoiled myself anyway (how unfortunate for me), thanks to the BBC themselves.

PLUS, I reckon the ABC's programming of The Runaway Bride was daft. It was a light, fluffy piece of fun - too light and fluffy for a season starter. Perfect as a one-off special. (So glad Donna will be back though, at least there probably won't be romance with her) AND I found the plots of The Runaway Bride and The Shakespeare Code too similar to air that close together (survivors of an alien race resurrecting their species to reign again, blah blah). But there were some good lines in both eps.

I really liked the plot of Smith and Jones. OK, the straw was silly, but kind of chilling as well. DW has always had a knack for making the mundane scary (anyone else look at xmas trees differently?). I reckon RTD has issues with middle-aged/senior women - they keep popping up as monsters. lol

Ever the high standard in good clean humour, I did find MORE THAN ONE article relating to Daleks and ... (hem).

The original I was referring too (Cor! Now you be careful wot! It's rather naughty): http://www.thesun.co.uk/article/0,,2-2005550115,00.html

and one from 2005 (oooh aahh! Blimey it's just as naughty!): http://www.theregister.co.uk/2005/11/28/dalek_film/

If anyone is offended then sorry. Just don't go clicking the links next time. You wouldn't catch an Aussie newspaper publishing that filth....

Anyone know where i can 'acquire' part 3 of the latest series??

I've seen the first 2 where we have met Mr. Saxon, etc.

^^Is that Margaret? She's cute. lol

^^^How's the glow-in-the-dark breasts in the second link? Very sci-fi.

Less than an hour before the next ep, nutmeg.

Tonight's episode: 'Gridlock' ABC 7.30 - No ads...luvley

The Dr returns to a much grittier New Earth with Martha, to meet the Face of Boe one final time. But as New New York becomes a deadly trap, the streets are deserted except for shady Pharmacists. The Dr and Martha must brave the ordeal of the mysterious Motorway in order to discover the terrible secrets at the heart of the city.

Well what gets me is even after tonight's ep, is it really the end?
TFoB is one of my alltime favourite characters! Gee I hope RTD has a really good way of bringing him back to life. My tip is that Novice (not sure of her full name) will be so sad about his passing that she'll put him on life support / bring him back to life - even become a little crazy in her obsession to keep him alive

What a revelation about the Doctor and his background! Yeah, okay, we had all worked it out already or read about it but it was so good to hear it "live" on TV as we were meant to find out about it. So much for the idiots who claim that downloads ;) kill off TV / movies. Like, we're still watching DW when its first run on TV! Hello!

Whhooooo hoooo. The Daleks are back. And obviously that "other" person who is so much like the Doctor.

Gee tonights ep was a ripper!

I don't think d/loads kill off tv, i still watch them on tv i just don't like being bound to tv channel's schedule, especially when it's been on finished in the UK why can't they bring them on around the same time, it's a pain because the net kills any surprise on what's happening in a series. I know summer is not a rating period but it's unfair, by the time it airs on tv here we already know what's going to happen, that's especially annoying with programs like Lost etc....people still watch tv during summer lol oh gees i think i am babbling :D

And so begins the descent into crappyness that is this season .. (aside from the small bump known as "Blink")

So New New York is dead and all it's survivors are stuck in gridlock underground.

Yet there are people living above ground and also people joining the gridlock each day. No one's noticed that high up the city is dead? Yeah, nice plot hole.

Boe is dead, and he'd better stay that way. I loved the character (but no despise his origins) and as much as I would love to see him again, the character was given closure. We already have Daleks who won't stay dead, no need to keep resurrecting characters just to boost ratings.

Yeah ... i'm still bitter over the season final and what's guest starring in the christmas special. Deal with it. :p

Oh burn you poor baby lol i do hope season 4 is better for you :D i wonder what other badies/aliens they will bring back from old DW.

Question: do we like re inventions of old characters/baddies from old DW or do we like brand spanking new baddies/characters? I like a mixture of both.

Interesting Burn. The Face of Boe for me is just great. I do wish he hadn't been killed off. If we didn't have TFoB, Daleks, whatever killed off then the storyline would be a whole lot simpler in explaining any reappearance!

TFoB still has potential for me. But with an edgier Novice turned a bit loopy - like she was before in trying to preserve the human race or whatever it was.

The situation at New NY had more holes than a slice of Swiss cheese I'll admit and the concept of being stuck in a life time traffic jam just way beyond even the absurd.

I really enjoyed the episode. The grey matter between my ears had the sign up "not at home". I must admit to trying to make some sense of the gridlock by assuming it was a metaphor for..... Ah...... Saturday night. Sit back and enjoy!

The best part was when the Doctor descended through the cars. Who would he meet next!

Ditto. I think the mix so far is just right. A little more Rose and a dash more of K-9 and I'll be in Who Heaven!

I say... "Bring back the mighty Sea Devils"
