I think they’ve also done the best they can considering how many other celebrity formats already air on 10, the cast is actually really well rounded and has some surprising picks in there as well. There really is something for everyone in the cast.
I also think it’s important to remember that the UK Traitors has been steadily building its profile for a few years. The opulent and flamboyant nature of the format aligns really well to the ‘prestige’ of higher profile names like Stephen Fry, Paloma Faith or Tom Daley. The Australian Traitors feels like it’s in a much better position to succeed and build a stronger profile - but only if 10 properly backs it and gives it at least 3 seasons to do this.

I wonder if we might see this show earlier than expected in I’m A Celeb’s usual January timeslot? It has just finished filming, and they are already promoting the cast (and briefly uploaded that Gretel clip on their instagram). Though that would put it up against the Australian Open. Maybe a good time to have the best chance to succeed would be between Australian Survivor and MasterChef starting? (April) after MAFS finishes. The two seasons of The Traitors failed to achieve success at this time of year (Sep/Oct/Nov), so it is probably best not to relaunch it again in those months.
2026 for 10 could be:
The Traitors / Australian Survivor / I’m A Celebrity (Easter) / MasterChef (shortened season) / Australian Survivor vs. The World / Big Brother (extended to 8 weeks) / The Amazing Race: Celebrity Edition / End the year with a new reality format
Of course, this is all speculation and mock scheduling
. Aus Survivor vs the World and Amazing Race have not been renewed yet, but they did rate decently this year, and maybe it’s too ambitious and expensive for 10 to get a new reality format.

I've lurked in here since I was on a shared family PC and dial-up internet. I always come back when the show is on! Always nice to see so many familiar usernames and very, very old school, inside jokes (like the Ginger Ninja etc).
To be honest, we were asked which "Australian celebrity" we'd like to play against and I had said Gretel because she is an icon... so you can imagine my surprise and delight to see her on day 1. Nobody else really appreciated the gravitas of her involvement, but I fan girled every day.

I did post a little “housemate first impressions” yesterday on IG and TikTok… there’s such a fine line between giving the people what they want and flogging a dead horse haha.
Every year it comes back, I swear I feel like the Toolie who won’t leave Schoolies...

A group of "celebrities" compete in challenges to win money for charity. The host chooses three people to be traitors, who will each day "murder" a faithful person. Also each day all players participate in a round table discussion to try to identify the traitors, and vote to banish who they think is a traitor.
At the end of the game, if all the traitors have been banished, the remaining faithful players split the money. If any traitors remain though, the traitors take the entire prize pot.

Yep. They have very similar concepts - The Traitors is sometimes referred to as a “televised version” of Mafia.
The US seasons, with Alan Cumming as host, is some of the best reality TV I’ve watched in a while. (It’s a bit of a “thing” across Traitors series’ for the host to also become a bit of a character on the show - so it’ll be super fun to see what Gretel does with it.)
