A 40sec clip from Monday’s episode of Deal Or No Deal with Mel.

An observation… it’s so refreshing to hear Mel talk about the show. Her genuine enthusiasm shines, and what’s most noticable to me is the difference between the way she’s hyping it up compared to the way Sonia ever did.

Also a thought… it intrigues (or worries?) me that so far their main definition of “going back to the OG format” is live eviction, live nominations, live streaming. That’s definitely a huge component, something we’ve missed for a while, and I’ll obviously take it. But it does make me think more “newer” elements of the format - here and overseas - will still make an appearance, which I guess is inevitable. We’ll see!

To me that's the base format. I'm also expecting some modern adjustments but man I hope they don't mess this up 🥲

Don’t know if this has already been said/ confirmed yet but saw a post from a girl on Facebook saying she made it to final stages of audition and was told the series will go for six weeks.
Don’t know how true it is.
Nobody ever lies on Facebook, though to be fair in this case she's probably confusing how long HMs will need to be available for with how long the series is.

This just popped up on Facebook. There definitely weren’t one million applicants but! I’m not sure we’ve yet had confirmation on length of season. 6 weeks will have it concluding just before Christmas.

Edit: she’s written in the comments apparently now it’s 4 weeks to test if they want to bring it back next year. Not sure what intel a rejected housemate would actually have.

Sounds like she’s full of crap tbh.

She clarified but still off. This may be a test series but 10’s contract is definitely longer than one series.

Great way to ruin any chances of her being asked back in a future series. As we know some HM’s audition multiple times before they get in. Also her audition tape is pretty laughable… I’d like to know what she actually thinks makes her different from past HM’s 🤣 Better yet what the casting producer saw other than a pretty girl?

I thought the exact same. If that’s the types that are making it to final stages. I thought they said no influencers? At least she got rejected.

Exactly! Also she tagged the show into her post. Just begging for attention. The type we don’t even want to see on TV. But now she’s gone through the audition process she’s a qualified representative of the show and is available to answer questions, guys!

Also, the amount of people still asking/shocked at the duration - were they actually thinking the show would run through Christmas and NY?

The poster has been updated on 10's website

Not that Australia would ever do it, but the final three from the first season in the Netherlands spent Christmas in the Big Brother house, but left the house on the night before New Year's Eve. Part of that was probably down to John de Mol wanting the show to be broadcast before the turn of the millennium. But it worked ratings-wise and the show kept its broadcasting slot for the next few seasons as well.

They've sort of re-enacted the Christmas story in their second season (a bit in an attempt to boost the ratings in its last few days). They had somebody play a homeless person who was looking for a place to stay and found it in the Big Brother house. Moved in on Christmas' Eve and left the next day.

Quite a few housemates have spent Christmas and New Year's Eve in the Big Brother house. I have a soft spot for Germany's 9th series that launched in December. Housemates were divided in a poor and rich area and on Christmas' Eve (when Germans get their presents) they had some priest coming in as Santa Claus. He gave people on the rich site presents from their loved ones and then declared that his bag is empty. He said some heartwarming words about how Christmas is more than just presents and what else while the housemates were crying. It was all broadcast live on TV, probably while or shortly after people in front of the TV unwrapped their presents.

I'll forever cherish the person who thought that making people cry for not getting presents from their family would be the perfect family entertainment on Christmas' Eve. Good times.

I’m in a rush so can’t link or quote, but BB just posted another version of the promo with Mel in the diary room with a different background. The green screen theory discussed earlier seems likely correct.
