I wonder if one of the celebrity cameo specials was originally going to be centred around the momentos?

Looks like Nobbi, Brigitte and Barney (plus a Fake!Terri) are all in the chat at the moment.

The same people coming back to impersonate different HMs every season obviously have nothing better to do with their lives. Psychos.
 
I love how much of the old 2007 house was repurposed for this season

The diary room repurposed the old red eviction hallway, the outdoor kitchenette lighting was the old shower rig, the rewards room switchable glass for the temptation window, etc etc
 
Can't help but laugh that in her intro on launch night, Alice said "I hate it when I'm called a doctor" (since she's a vet) - meanwhile the show keeps doing this:

So far I stand by my thoughts back at the time - I do overall like BB08.

Pros
  • Genuinely good task / activity ideas to get the housemates active and performing. The big single bed, meal conveyor belt etc.
  • Casting was good. The mix was probably too ahead of its time for Australia in 2008. Very similar to current BBUK reboot (I was typing this as @the Theorist mentioned BBUK above).
  • They tried.
Cons
  • FNL was a tired and flailing format, it should not have played such a big role in the show if they were trying to refresh the format. It ate up a lot of broadcast time that could have been redistributed to 60 minute daily shows (and just do games in the daily show).
  • Awful hosts all round - Kyle and Jackie O did not give a shit. FNL cast are super tacky.
  • The changes to the eviction system were a mistake.
  • We're only a week in on the stream and we all know the 10 executives are about to freak out and start fiddling with everything.

I remember back in 2008 thinking about this - the BBBA community kept calling out that AU should become more like UK and then they did actually try to do it and it killed the show on 10.

But also towards the second half they didn't stick to the changes they'd made.

That was because they did such a terrible job of it, the casting in particular. And then meddled with everything and kept throwing shit into it out of desperation.
