🇬🇧 BBUK 2025 - starts 28 Sep

BBUK
Do we know what the point of the Secret Room is yet? I might’ve missed that detail. What’s the purpose of the fake eviction / is there a task for the ex HMs to return?
I assume they'll get to listen in to things and producers are just after a few "ooooh, that bitch" moments from Sam and a "I thought the two of yous was friends?" from Farida. So yeah, no point.

Emily (or is her name Emma? I don’t even remember) let slip during the live episode that she was literally at work yesterday. Then back in the house a few hours later. It all seems so made up as they go.

The constant “shh”-ing into the mics by Aja and Will was also grating - like they’re not making it any less obvious - all for the HMs to get to the Secret Room, see the sign that said “remain quiet” then all of a sudden start screaming and making noise once they got inside and saw each other anyway.

Nah it's obvious that Emily was always coming back given how she was kicked out on Launch night. Farida on the other hand was very likely a tag on due to George getting booted.

I didn't mind the fake eviction part, mostly because Sam gasping made it entertaining. But I have to groan at another left wing vs. right wing constructed situation. Young Tory vs. Muslim woman... we have really had enough of this and it's only the second week.

And the show this week was proof it became so much better off without all that, too!

100%! The period since George left has had some of the best moments of the ITV era in total.
Marcus and Tate using their eyeball currency at the shop to mess with eachother - Marcus causing Tate to have to nominate face to face and Tate buying Marcus time in prison, which was made even funnier by the fact that he had to attend his "romantic" dinner for two with Elsa while in the cell.

I don't get ITV's obsession with the political divide and having housemates that do nothing but argue about that.

This twist could've been sort of okay in a 9-10 week series, but now we're headed to doubles and triples, backdoors and whatnot. And it seems to be completely pointless, considering that Sam doesn't get immunity from eviction next week?!?!?!

And the fact that they've put Emily back in was a TERRIBLE choice. 99.8% of people are sick to death of all the politics talk, and we were looking at at a more fun series after George was ejected. So what better to do than stoke the fire and bring Emily back and giving her immunity. Is nobody in production competent? Its about time we get a production refresh for future series.

Regardless of who they were I don't think you can justify a weeks immunity for newcomers firstly with it being such a short series and secondly with the original HMs not getting that themselves in the first week. If anything any "intruders" should automatically be more at risk but producers are just gifting them a place in the house rather than making them earn it.

Probably ticks off some pointless engagement metric like "we got mentioned on GB News, which they usually don't do" or "ten people tweeted about supporting Emily despite not really watching the show anyways". They've probably been thrilled with all the coverage about George getting the boot.

A bit like the German production team that seemed like they were super-thrilled that international news papers reported on them updating the housemates on Covid. Didn't really boost their struggling ratings, but they've made international headlines, y'all.

I dare say the housemates are sick of this as well. Emily is going to come busting into the house shouting “I LOVE BORIS JOHNSON CHANGE MY MIND 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧” and every housemate except Caroline is going to roll their eyes and not take the rage bait.

I know not all the BBUK people on Bluesky use the Feed, and even if they did, it's not guaranteed to map 1:1 onto Twitter and the other socials.

But, the Feed was viewed more times last night than on launch night, and it was the #2 day of the series in terms of number of posts.

So I guess that explains why they keep doing this shit – the twists and the far-right scumbags. Some 'content' twat at ITV gets off on seeing the numbers going up, and has decided that's the most important thing to focus on. And they don't give a shit about why the numbers are going up which, it turns out, was "basically every single fan ranting about how done they are with this series". 💀

Seeing rumours on Twitter that this season will be the last with the limited live feeds due to low viewership.

If this is the case it seems like a self manufactured problem having to do with ITV’s heavy censorship and the fact that it runs most nights from 11pm. Along with that I think there are two issues with the late timing of the feed window in that it probably wouldn’t be as much of an issue if the show ran during the summer and two while it is intended to be “live” I do think leaving the feed up for viewing the next day or for up to 48 hours afterwards would help to increase numbers.

Once again if there’s any truth to this rumour I think it tends to support the theory that the driving force behind this revival was to keep BB from (a potentially privatized) Channel 4.

That said I do have to wonder if ITV did give up on BB I do have to wonder if Channel 4 might have a chance at swooping in and doing more of a BBUS/BBCAN style series or a hybrid format with a full live feed. Everyone seems to be attempting to clone The Traitors and I think something similar to the themes BBUS used for BB26/27 could be a decent foundation not to mention that the formats are different enough that whatever they call this new series won’t be seen as just another clone. I’m also quite certain that the BBC’s failure with Survivor UK was that the show was poorly executed and not that modern audiences are turned off by that style of gameplay.

I don't buy the C4 theory - there isn't enough money in TV now just to buy something so somebody else can't have it.

Killing off what little of the live feeds they do have now though will kill off interest even more - many fans of the last couple of years seen to be struggling with it this year if they haven't quit completely (like I have), and with Celebrity Traitors looking set to be an annual fixture at this time of year, plus MAFS UK also performing strong, I think they are willing to move it either to Spring (Apr/May) or post-Love Island in the summer (Aug-Sept) it's future isn't looking good.

And agree the live stream at 11pm-2am with no way of rewatching is never going to pick up huge numbers - unless fans are invested enough in the main show.
