There’s obviously some similarities to Gretel and yet she’s different enough that she’s obviously not a carbon copy.

Inspired choice is 100% right… Unlike ITV who I feel just went for something “different” for the sake of being different. Both AJ and Will are great but they don’t work as a duo. They may be great friends but any chemistry they have together doesn’t translate to a shared on screen role.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Mel was their first and only choice and it speaks volumes for the direction they’re heading in for this revival. Which is why I’m looking past the obvious fault of this series… For now.

I wouldn’t say I need this series to be “good” but I definitely need there to be potential. ITV’s downfall has been that their revival exceeded their expectations and because of that they’ve had no incentive to reevaluate and make further investments. If 10 aren’t willing to make mistakes there’s literally no room for improvement.
 
If that’s the new voice I’m extremely disappointed. This is more or less and copy and paste of the social media ad 10 dropped when they announced they had the show again. Peter Abbotts voice has been replaced with AI? Oh come on 10. That was one of the major complaints of the 7 run.

The voice aside what else do you expect of them at this point?

Could be a test from their marketing team to see how people react and go: "Well, we're definitely not using that voice... ❌️"

Yeah, it didn't air until HYBPA, just after 9pm, if I recall. (I'm regional, so my local station may have decided to play it anyway)

Yeah it aired during the second (from memory) ad break of HYBPA. I still don't see the logic of using that AI generated BB voice, like it was fine with Peter's... surely they're not using a robotic voice like 7 did.

I really hope you're correct.
I hope 10 knows how important a human voice is to the show and the different it can make for fans and Housemates.
It adds to the whole show having a human voice, when a housemate is upset you need the nice, caring, and sympathetic tone from Big brother but then when a housemate breaks the rules you need the main, angry dad tone, something you don't get with AI.

Peter was great with that, and Chirs got better as time went on with the caring, sympathetic side. I understand we might not be able to have Peter, Chirs or even Leon back at the main voice but please not AI, takes away from the OG feel also.

The fact they got Goldman back is making me hope they bring an OG bb voice back! My god, that'd be phenomenal

I think you mean Nick, he was the BB voice from 2004-2007. Chris was EP but not BB voice

Honestly, it doesn't even need to be an OG voice. I think having Peter, Leon or Nick Colquhoun back would be amazing, but surely they have a producer or two that have a stern, authoritative but compassionate voice. It's exaggerated anyway as no one speaks that way in normal life. I wouldn't hate hearing a female voice again. AI or using a voice changer isn't necessary. The UK dubs their [annoying] voice during editing if the [annoying] voice wasn't on shift, and I believe this happened during Nick's reign as Big Brother.

Afaik, Kris Noble didn't do the voice. I believe this was debated in a different thread.

I thought this too, but there is a strange "artificial" sound to the inflection and pronunciation that wouldn't be affected by altering the pitch. I'm grasping at straws here. BB team - if you're reading this, use a human or two.
