BBAU 2025: Casting open, return to Dreamworld Confirmed

Also as mentioned in another post, I wonder if all the media they're using for the promos, is the stuff from the YouTube rips 😂 including the theme etc. I wonder if most of the original stuff got lost/not kept after the 2008 season

Nah, the original run of the show (at least) was archived as part of some preservation project of Australian TV a few years back. There was a tweet at the time where someone involved was sitting there watching Johnnie's eviction from BB01 as the process was running. So they haven't been lost.

That said, they might be ripping stuff from YouTube and using that though as it might be easier than getting their hands on those digital archives.

Can't say if this is new or not, but I've also noticed Mike Goldman and Mel Tracina are following each other on Insta, and he's now following the BB page.

I would say they have all of the broadcast versions stored, but all of the original camera roll tapes would have been destroyed by now. It's also a lot more time efficient to just rip some existing YT clips.

Sorry I didn't realise you'd replied already.

I saw a comment earlier that they initially planned 80 days but due to the issues with the ch 7 contract its been scaled back. Guess we wait and see? If it’s starting early November it’ll probably run until mid to late December.
I was also thinking this might be the case as well that they fully intended for it to be like it was plus a decent length only that in terms of that the holdback delayed the announcement that was required to set the production wheels in motion/put the call out for casting/production team/building the house etc perhaps.

So it could possibly follow that they wont stray too outside the box format wise (although there may still be a twist here and there) with this season and just get a feel for it being back into the swing of things iykwim, and then make some adjustments or be a bit more adventurous to shake some things up in the follow up season, Like if you look at BB2012 compared with 2013 on Nine for example.

I'm about to get into this in my watch of BBUK, Having finished BB12 (first on Channel 5 and held late in the year straight after CBB8 started in August) from what little I know of BB13 they added an extra week on and moved it back to June in the schedule between 2 CBB's a year and remained until the final C5 year (2018) when it went 2 x CBB then BB19.

So It could be they move it back to the original like April/May start, or where it is but a tad earlier (August/September) with a longer season length.

Also watching BBUK the house right next to the crowd would be something different, we always had a fair distance from house to stage so there was no need for crowd noise to be played during evictions and such.

I think we’re about to enter another golden era of BBAU… This series may not be as ideal as we were all hoping for but I hopeful if it gets the support it needs unlike ITV, 10 will go all in for future series. Perhaps even moving it back in to its traditional time-slot. I think I’m even more excited for this than I was for BBUK.
I was thinking the same thing tbh. Maybe the Seven era was a blessing after all? All it did was highlight how much the Australian public just what’s the OG version of the show, the all stars season if anything cemented the motion.

In a post Covid world where free to air television is in a bit of a turbulent state I think reality tv shows are pretty much locked in for longevity if they perform even at just average.

I can feel that this is going to work out well for Ten and I am really excited to see someone like Mel (who is probably unknown to most people) get a chance at prime time television rather than recycling well known Aussie names.

I would prefer BB to return to its original slot as well, I guess we shall see what Ten plan to do with MasterChef. They seriously cannot order more 15 week seasons…

Was there ever any public casting calls for the 7 era? Or was it all existing applicants/casting agencies etc? I know 9 did tours across Australia.

I wonder how many have applied so far 🤔

An April/May launch like the original would be amazing. I looked it up and the last ep of BB that aired on 10 was 21st July 2008. 17 years and one week... 6216 days we've waited, still a little while to go 😭

I applied at 9am on the day they opened them and I feel like there will already be sooo many applications in!
