It’s actually a shame the channel 7 version was so trash because I thought they cast some good housemates. The likes of Angela, Ian, SooBong & Tilly would have been great value on the Channel 10 format.I’m really intrigued to see the casting. I have a feeling they’re going to go right back to the roots of casting every day Australians. Survivor’s casting has been pretty good in terms of casting the net wide(Still some Insta, fame hungry models) but overall survivor has found some really interesting characters. Expecting Big Brother to cast some absolute weirdos which is what the show needs.

Big Brother back in 2025 on 10! AND LIVE!

Even if the letter held so they couldn't talk about having Big Brother they can then talk about not being able to talk about having Big Brother, which for a comedy show would be even more of a gift.
TBH if that holds (money will likely talk) likely the biggest problem is if it delays production and casting, which would almost certainly bounce it to 2026. Otherwise if they can crack on with that on the sly but it means Ten just can't promote the show until just a few weeks before it starts then that woudn't necessarily be a bad thing.

Geez channel 7, come on now! You ruined BB with your crappy pre-taped, hot bods only, survivor style format of a show (if you could even call it a show) ... and now you want to raise this "hold back" clause in a contract. Well, I guess it wouldn't be BB unless there was some form of controversy eh? So we'll just add this one on as another one on the list.

7’s decision was clearly ratings based. The fact that they’d even finished out their contract with 15 was shocking. Can anyone shed some light as to when 7 decided to cancel the show and how long Ten has had their eyes on BB? Do you think they have tried to get their hands on it before 7 got to it?
As for 10 they were rumoured to have been out bid by 7 in 2019. Given the 2025 announcement and the fact that they don’t seem to care about any rights 7 still have I’m going to lean in to that rumour having some truth to it.

I think, therefore I am, I think ...
... And on that note, a slight derailment. I saw that happening at London Zoo many years ago! I've never see anything like it in my lifeGeez, 10 are really acting like they aren't in hot water over Big Brother. There was a joke on The Cheap Seats about watching monkeys masturbating.

One lonely chimp, hanging out on a tree branch entertaining himself!
True story!
And it had a "happy ending!"

It’s definitely a good sign although we won’t know for sure until it airs. I think more than just “fun” what the neo-10 era is attempting to bring back is the “experience”.Good news that 10 has it? Might be fun again.

It just makes sense to bring it back to the way it was, it was successful for a reason. Of course, it didn't take long for the fame hungry folk to catch on to what producers were looking for, but I believe the casting for this new series will be great. Assuming they are going to do a proper audition process which will see them tour around the country. If they have the original production crew returning, I think we'll be in for a treat.
It's surprising to me though. Considering how much social media has evolved over the years, when 7 had it, people were pretty vocal about how bad the new format was. 7 had ample time to fix it, or at least tweak it for their next series, yet they changed nothing. Viewers wanted it to be live, they wanted to be able to vote like they used to, and how they were wanting "real" housemates, not people picked from casting agencies. Yet, it all fell on deaf ears and somehow got worse. I guess Covid didn't help...
I'll be honest though, I only watched the launch of the first 7 season, then watched probably 30 mins worth of the one with Reggie, Trevor and Dave.

I was once on a school excursion to the Melbourne zoo and there was one orangutan giving a blow job to another

funny you should say that because i too have noticed that. The media reaction to this has been rather tepid… goes to show how badly 7 trashed the BBAU brand.
all of the responses in the comments of our major mastheads are along the lines of either "stop flogging this dead horse" or "i will be sorting my sock draw out while this trash airs" or "can channel ten even afford to produce this".
pretty much no comments are in favor of this revival sadly.

I've seen plenty of positive comments, I honestly believe they'll do this right and the audience will flock back. Yes times and the demographic has changed over the years, and people don't watch FTA TV as much, but I reckon the live aspect will draw some attention.funny you should say that because i too have noticed that.

One thing that annoyed me with 2008 (and the 9 versions IIRC) was that they announced the evictee during the ad breaks, I didn't see why they wouldn't announce it live then throw it to the break. Also an observation, daylight savings will be in effect during the proposed dates of BB25, which isn't a massive issue I guess.

if you are referring to the Bruce Lehrman Spotlight Interview, i thought at the time that interview should have won a Walkley, for allowing him to air his side of the story. That’s so strange, I swear 7 were spending millions on defending sex pests rather than reality formats..
