Do we have a politics thread to discuss things political?

They'd have known that it would be suicidal to start the process from scratch at that stage. I'm glad she's charismatic, enthusiastic and quite likeable. She's literally the anti-Trump. She's free of the baggage that Hillary and Biden carried, and now Trump's lost that advantage and doesn't quite know what to do.
I saw a conspiracy theory on TikTok a few months ago that said Biden would drop out and Michelle Obama would take his place… We got her spicier younger sister instead.

Watched a hit of Trump’s press conference today and the man keeps getting more deranged by the day. His campaign is trying to get something to stick to Kamala but he’s absolutely refusing to stick to a point. I really think he’s banking on SCOTUS to overturn the results.

Now all I need is for Justin Trudeau to step aside before Trump lite becomes our next Prime Minister.

Enthusiasm for the election has taken a huge leap for Democrat and independent voters since Kamala's promotion. Very relatable!

Funny that the Trump campaign is trying to paint Josh losing out on the Harris ticket was a bad thing. For one he’s only 51 and two just listening to him speak I’d be shocked if a run for the Presidency wasn’t in his cards. Biden being the only former VP to also serve as President in the last 20+ years I think he’s much better off waiting in the wings.

Man Americans take their politics too seriously and they worship their candidates. Like they are celebrities and they see political parties like they're a football/soccer team.

In Australia, we generally can't stand either side, and we crap on them both when we want to, no matter what we are and what they are (left wing or right wing). Scomo got a lot of shit from conservative "bogan" Australians in farmlands during the 2020 bushfires, where they didn't shake his hand when he offered it. Lmao.

That’s the way Canadian politics used to be like but it’s becoming just as polarized as American politics. We’re definitely way less patriotic and the level of enthusiasm is quite different but when things get nasty it’s just as bad. I think we led the world in Pandemic protests. Also Fuck Trudeau is almost our National Anthem at this point.

The reason I pay such close attention is because usually whatever is going on south of our boarder usually slowly creeps in and mutates in to its own brand of insanity.

ETA: I think the weirdest for me has to be UK politics. Despite knowing the basics having grown up in a commonwealth country the pomp and pageantry about it and the status one can achieve through politics is foreign.

Yeah I had that streaming in the background. Her speech was so rousing, better than her husbands, IMO. She was great.
Proof that you can still deliver a positive and uplifting message while at the same time popping Donald Trump right in the jaw.

I am honestly going to live and die on this hill of calling conservatives weird. It’s such a relief that we finally have something that hits them just as hard as the insults we’ve had to endure all these years. Seeing the likes of that old hag Ann Coulter fail miserably trying to turn it around is such sweet dessert 💅🏼

They are funny. Vicious. But funny.
This time round I actually think - so far - the Dems are doing a nice job of low key non-vicious but still effective needling trolling.
And Trumpy doesn’t know how to handle it. Which is delicious.
