BBUK returns Sun 8 Oct 2023 (and Celeb BB back in 2024)

omg the donald wheres youre troosers song!
I watched the amazing race a couple seasons back where they had to go to Scotland and learn this song and do a dance to pass the roadblock. the bloody song has been in my head for two years and ehre it is again

I must say, there’s something very nostalgic about watching Big Brother and texting my friends and family about the episode I just watched with the live feed on in the background.

I love it once you move past the glamour of launch night, and you see everyone looking more casual.

I particularly loved Farida and Kerry’s response to Hallie coming out. I even warmed to Olivia a bit. I think that once she calms down and relaxes into it she could be quite fun.

Chanelle is also emerging as a fun housemate - I think she’ll be fun to watch.

My MVP at the moment is Yinrun, I think she’s incredibly charming.

So pretty standard first highlights episode. I really hope Jenkin is the first to go... It's the first full day in the house and he's already cracking. If he's this annoying now I can't imagine what he'll be like in a few weeks when things really kick off. My favs atm are Kerry, Hallie, and Channel. I also enjoy Jordan's dry humour. Oliva is definitely going to get on my nerves at some point but glad she's sitting around for at least another week.

Im using avast VPN.

I bought an avast licence from g2a.com cost me like $10 for a year and has never failed

Thanks for the heads up on this. I bought the 5-device one for AUD $7.66, and it's not only cheaper, but it seems to work better on my Android box than Torguard, so that's a win-win. Torguard was costing US $30, and it was still way cheaper than most when I was last shopping for one.

its a great site that.
the vpn is excellent

An impressive 1.4m last night - double the equivalent episode in 2018 and higher than all civilian highlight episodes since 2016. Also higher than any Love Island episode.

Up against MAFS UK on E4 which has been getting over 1m a night - down to around 850k yesterday.

More competition to come though with Bake Off overlapping tonight and Celebrity Race Across the World tomorrow.

Anyone else distracted by Trish's pants flaps being wide open in the scene about some "Right Wing Shit" with Henry?

Tom and Paul have that twinsie double bed atm. Cute. lol. And Dylan got his bed back already.

At first Im really noticing the constant use of music in the scene changes but they've toned it down a bit as the episode went on.

Attempting to watch, the itvx app is so bad. The adds are relentlessly long. And my hostel wifi in Prague is terrible it keeps cutting out and I have to keep restarting it.

I really enjoyed that episode. So many segments of the housemates getting to know each other or people simply explaining things about themselves.

I am so happy Olivia is immune, she is great TV and will be a fun antagonist it seems moving forward.

I love Matty, he is gorgeous and listening to him talking about coming out was relatable.

I am not really warming to Hallie that much. I feel like she was a bit harsh on Ferida with the whole discussion they had about sexuality/gender. I completely understand that Farida’s question came across as ignorant, but it was admitted ignorance.

Farida to me seems genuinely interested to educate herself and appears very much open minded. It seems several housemates are struggling to live with her, I’m tipping she will be against the first public vote.

Yinrun has my heart she is so adorable ❤️

So I can totally understand your point of view on the Hallie/Farida situation tonight but I have a bit of a different view on it. Having to constantly “come out” to people can be daunting. Given her age I don’t think she’s ever had a conversation like she had with Farida. I think she was genuinely taken aback by Farida’s rather crude and somewhat insensitive line of questioning.

I totally can understand exhaustion from needing to constantly come out. And I can get why she was frustrated, I personally just choose not to get so angry at people who make ignorant statements.
There’s people who are intentionally ignorant and there are others like Farida who are genuinely trying to educate themselves. She is 50 years old and I’m going to make an assumption that she isn’t around a lot of LGBT people.

It’s easy for a lot of us younger people who have been exposed to the LGBT community, more so than the boomers and Gen X, to chastise them for their ignorance. But there are some who genuinely do want to learn and those ignorant comments are unavoidable as many of them are uneducated. I’m sure Farida can learn from this and understand why what she said was wrong.

What I didn’t like was Hallie going around telling everyone about it. I suppose she was mentally frustrated about it and was hoping she’d come into the house not needing to explain herself. And you’re right, at 18 she probably hasn’t been thrown into the situation yet, so I can’t blame her for how she feels. I just think Farida didn’t intend for any harm and fully even admitted she only wanted to learn.

If I wrote a list of the amount of times a straight men has asked me a question and said something that didn’t sit right with me I’d be here all day. But I take time to remember that they’re just trying to understand themselves. I can’t just expect every straight person to get it, in my head there’s not much at all to understanding being gay, but there going to be people who don’t realise that.

I just think questions like that are ought to be expected, especially when there are people in the house who haven’t met a transgendered person before. But I can understand the mental frustration of realising that there is still a lot of work to do in regards to educating people. I’m sure as she gets older she’ll be able to handle those situations differently.

It’s also easy for a lot of people to look at someone like Farida and assume that just because she’s Muslim she’d be close minded to learning about it and would dismiss it. But I think it’s beautiful to see how open minded she is and how she wants to learn about other people. I don’t hold her in any disregard for phrasing her question like that. She’s just trying to understand.

This is exactly what I thought, too. Hallie had said "I'm an open book, ask me anything", so it was a bit rich to get upset and blab to others behind Farida's back about it.

What pissed me off even more was when Farida arrived outside and Hallie just told her oh I’m talking about the question you asked, and then carried on the conversation as per normal as if she wasn’t just telling everyone about it. She said it like you said, ask me anything, Farida doesn’t deserve to be villainised for wanting to be educated.
