Passed it already but I can't not comment on it. Josh leaving was a very sad part of the series that not only left a hole in the house but changed the end result entirely. I remember the Wednesday when Josh had been said to have left the house and my mum came to pick me up from school early just to tell me. I personally really liked Josh, he wasn't the loudest but his impact on the other housemates was a lot more positive than negative.
I agree with a very detailed and well thought out post
@the Theorist made about what would have happened if this unfortunate incident did not occur. If Josh stayed Michael would most likely not have swooped in on Estelle last minute, there was no way Josh was going to be evicted any time soon at all, if anything he had a really good chance at potentially winning the show. Angie very likely would have been evicted like she was the next week, one of Sam, Zoe or even Stacey are the next three to go in any order. Michael's popularity would not have plummeted and with Josh and Estelle having large followings I agree with
@the Theorist that Benjamin and Layla probably go in the double eviction before the finale (if anything Stacey potentially could have beaten Layla, at the time I would have guessed this but reading whirlpool it seems she was disliked by some just as much as she was liked). Michael probably would have won but I wouldn't put it past the possibility of Estelle taking it out. The finale would have potentially been close, but if production really didn't want Estelle to win they probably would have shown the graph if she was leading anyway.
Edit: After some more thinking, Josh potentially could have been evicted in the double eviction as well. It all depends on how much his popularity compared to Benjamin's. Irregardless, the final four would have been Benjamin, Estelle, Josh and Michael. Michael and Estelle would have been the front runners to win, but production most likely guides the win to land into Michael's lap.
I think the show dealt with the situation very well. Turning off cameras for the goodbyes to Josh was a smart move, it wasn't something that fans or cameramen needed to really sit and watch. The eviction situation is a bit iffy but adding a housemate that late would have tainted the end of the series like 06. The way the following eviction was done was fair and one of the initial nominees left anyway, so nothing too unfair happened. I liked that Josh at least got his own live interview on the Sunday, but I do wonder if this would have been done for anyone, or if it was done just because it was Josh.
