THE VIRUS 2020 - the good, the bad, and the ugly

I wonder what Dan Andrews fans think about this? I remember many of them were critical of Gladys (who I am disappointed with, I am not happy) but what will they think now? When Victoria's current lockdown started I remember many of them were confident they'd get back to zero and complained when NSW wasn't copying Victoria's lockdown restrictions from last year!

"This is Victoria now copying, replicating what's happening in New South Wales. This is Daniel Andrews as I said last night, following the Gladys Berejiklian strategy. A plan he was slamming just days ago. Victoria will now tie the lifting of restrictions and the eventual lifting of lockdowns to vaccination rates, not covid zero." - Chris Kenny

Well it's a weird thing when you think about it, Dan Andrews was saying that we last had a "delta" variant outbreak we seemed to contain it and it was gone (well so we were told). Which is why you would think that a strict lockdown like we had here in Victoria should have also worked in Sydney? Well it seems it's not the case anymore and from what we are hearing now this "delta" variant must literally be Houdini the magician in a virus sense that this thing cannot be stopped or controlled and seems to be contracted from out of nowhere from person to person?

Why can't any of these so called "medical professionals" explain to everyone how exactly is this so highly infectious and contagious "delta" variant any different to the first variant of COVID-19 that seemed to much easier to control with restrictions and lockdowns? I want to know what makes this "delta" variant so nasty and how is it mainly being transmitted from person to person? Surely with what is happening in the world at the moment with this variant we all should know what everyone can do to better protect themselves from catching and spreading this "delta" variant?

I had a quick read a while ago of a news article from the US where someone mentioned that you need a minimum 95% filtration face mask to help better protect from catching and spreading the "delta" variant of COVID-19. You can see where i'm getting at here why aren't we being told by the authorities on any better protective gear if it may possibly help curb the spread of this "delta" variant?

Well anyway it seems what is happening now is a perfect storm for the government to get anyone out there that doesn't want to get the vaccine to have no choice but to get it or suffer the consequences. So it's actually becoming mandatory for everyone to get vaccinated in one way or another...think about it.

If zero covid is no longer the goal, what should a realistic goal be for Australia/Australians?

There are a few important things to focus on - Mental Health, Economy/jobs, ensuring Covid cases don't go too high and clog up the healthcare system. And probably some other things I haven't thought of off the top of my head.

Are we likely to get a national agreement on how/what to measure and what to prioritise? Is there a way to move forward into this next phase without frucking it up?

I don't know if I have any answers to these questions right now but just putting them out there.
