Episode I'm A Celebrity! AU (2018) - Episode Discussion

LOL at this from facebook. People think Fiona is in love with Peter.
This is over the top. Fiona is a grow woman. She has a fake persona made
Up in a jungle. It will never turn into a reality show
As it would be boring after a few weeks. It will taken out on context. It was ok for the show but that’s it. I would be
More worried about the reason she is crying. I think she is in love with him.

Not laughing at this one though!
Fiona doesn’t deserve to win -what has she contributed -an attempt at an arguement when she asked David Oldfield his opinion then criticised him for it after she walked off & didn’t listen to him!!! Vote off the drunk this isn’t her rehab

I want to know why Chris & Julia didn't mention shitface gate.

I’m a Celebrity's Peter Rowsthorn apologises for Gillies insult: 'I lost the plot'

Comedian Peter Rowsthorn has apologised for an ugly dig at I'm a Celebrity campmate Jackie Gillies, but has denied the comment cost him a spot in Monday's finale.

Rowsthorn was the show's shock dismissal on Wednesday night, sent packing just a day after cameras caught him, alongside boxer Danny Green, calling Gillies a "shitface".

The jab at Gillies was singled out by host Julia Morris during Tuesday's telecast, who said it was an "unacceptable way to speak about women".

Speaking over the phone from South Africa, Rowsthorn said he regretted the incident, but brushed off suggestions it sparked his eviction.

"It was pretty harsh. I meant no malice in it. You get tired and you say stupid stuff. I apologise if she's had any sort of grievance about it. I maybe lost the plot for a minute," the comedian said.

The Kath & Kim star said the frustration at Gillies, who was voted off on Tuesday night, stemmed from the psychic's off-screen antics.

"I sort of pegged Jackie pretty early – she was always up and about and in the cameras when things were happening, but it's a 24-hour game.

"At the end there, I became a bit of a sounding board for Danny Green who'd had enough of her, and I think I was just trying to back up Danny a bit.

"Jackie's a good person, and a big personality. And people like Jackie are put in there for a purpose, the 'OK now deal with this'-kind of girl. When you're living like that, it gets pretty hard."

He says he's "gutted" he was voted off just days off the finale, but he's unsure if the incident hurt his chances of moving on.

"Mate, I have no idea. Maybe it did, I don't really know," he says. "Danny’s still in there and Danny's far more vocal about what he felt, so I'm not sure if it did."

Viewers had warmed to Rowsthorn's wacky sideshow and honest personality, including stating he only joined the show to pay off some hefty tax bills.

"That seems to have got some traction on the outside world," he laughs.

"I have been turning down reality shows for the last ten years, whether it be I'm a Celebrity, Dancing With The Stars, Celebrity Apprentice, or whatever.

"I got to a point where I go, okay, I've got this bill I've got to pay, I'm 55 years old, I live in Perth which is not the epicentre of entertainment, and it's a chance to chuck the name back out there on the national stage...

"I had lots of reasons to do it, and very few reasons not to. It kind of forced my hand a bit, but I'm glad for the experience. I'd never do it again, but I’m glad I did it."

The experience actually sparked some creative inspiration, Rowsthorn says, with his 'Ron and Brenda' antics with campmate Fiona O'Loughlin offering an avenue for potential new work.

The scenario, which saw Rowsthorn and O'Loughlin taking on the personas of an awkwardly loved-up married couple, has become one of the season's more unexpected breakouts.

"The Ron and Brenda thing's been a bit of a revelation, just by chance. It keeps growing, and I hope I can ride on the back of it for a bit of exposure," says Rowsthorn.

He says a sketch he'd previously written called Nomads, with himself and comedian Denise Scott in mind, could be easily adapted to a "Ron and Brenda experience".

"It's a bit trickier than the actual Ron and Brenda you've seen in the camp – it's a bit more heartfelt and covers quite a few issues – but it's still funny and a different sort of journey," he says.

"Hopefully now someone's got the balls to make it and I can get it up and just do something for myself that I've always wanted to do, which is produce and write something. I've been doing comedy for 35 years, and I think I know a bit, so I'd like to actually take the helm of something for the first time. It'd be unreal."

He credits O'Loughlin, his tip to take out the reality series, with making the Ten experience enjoyable.

"I only crossed paths with Fiona maybe four or five times in my comedy career. It was always just a polite coffee, 'I love your work' or whatever. She's obviously gone down her own fairly hectic path and I've been in my own insular family world, working mainly in the comedy corporate environment," he says.

"But we had a real comedy mojo in the camp, and used each other as a good sounding board. We're just completely on the same wavelength. If I hadn't have had her there, I'm not sure I would've walked but at the same time it made it a lot more bearable."

I do think it cost him a place in the finale.

Jackie mentioned that Green knew when the mics were off & knew he could say things that wouldn't get on air.

Re the Brenda & Ron show, I don't think so.

It was OK in small doses, but can't see a show about them. (Peter must be desperate for work if he thinks a Brenda & Ron show will be a winner)

Regarding Green, even Paul, Simone & Vicky have said Danny was rude to Jackie etc. (we were shown them saying this)

I did notice Jackie was saying Shine a lot, she has a tour called Shine It Up coming up in April.

I want to know why Chris & Julia didn't mention shitface gate.

There were even some people on facebook saying Julia should be sacked, as it was her fault Peter didn't win! (Because she made one disapproving comment about the way the girls were being treated).
But yes, why didn't she mention this to Peter, or show the "shitface" comment in his highlights?

I think the final will be Danny/Fiona or Shannon/Fiona.

If it's Danny/Fiona, I want Fiona to win, if it's Shannon/Fiona, I want Shannon to win.

Not looking good for Vicki tonight! Simone just holding on...

Let's have another surprise elimination tonight where Danny or Shannon goes! :)

It's also international woman's day today!

Danny mentioned Vicki has 4million followers on instagram.....he is very focused on winning the prick
So I checked , and she has 3.9million, far out
Maybe, if even just a few hundred are obsessed they will figure out how to vote???

I want the females to beat the last 2 males, neither are appealing or entertaining

...yup!... totally agree kxk... it would be just dreadful if either Danny or Shannon win this... women of Australia unite!... (plus a few of us guys)... a woman needs to win this!... cheers.

...I would so love for this to happen... after Pete's elimination last night anything is possible... my guess though is that a woman will go regardless to be honest... cheers.

I don't think international people can vote... If they can it would probably be very expensive anyway!!! The terms and conditions on Ten Play.com.Auuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu (I did a Julia :p) probably state only Australian mobile numbers can vote. That's why I think Vicki wouldn't have that much of a chance winning because most Australians wouldn't know who she is. The instagram followers means nothing for her unless a huge chunk of them are from Australia which I doubt...

Yes, and some people are even saying on facebook "a woman has already won" (Casey) "so it's time for a man to win again'" Sorry, WHAT?!? The best PERSON should win, and in both cases that was Casey and Fiona, it's nothing to do with gender. It's only sexist men who see the difference.

CLARIFICATION : obviously I mean men who are sexist, not "all men are sexist", being one myself.

 Yep two men have already won the series and one female. It's not fair. A man definitely needs to win again!!

Last year I think I posted in the middle of the series I wanted a woman to win but that is because two sporting men already did so in the previous seasons. I wanted to see someone different take it out. I actually thought Casey was the best camp mate we had last year (and perhaps one of the best we have had so far in any series...) and was rooting for her to win regardless of gender! :) She really deserved her win.

I want a woman to win this year preferably Fiona or Vicky because I have enjoyed their time in the show and the rest of the men left are either boring or douches. I was rooting for Peter to win as well for the majority of the season before he got eliminated. I had always liked Fiona a tad better though so would have liked a Peter/Fiona final 2 and Fi taking it out! ;)

Yes, even before Peter's lapse of character, I preferred Fiona. I still think Peter is funny, but we haven't seen any hidden depths. There is more depth to Fiona, she's a strong woman who has not had an easy life, but does her best to overcome her obstacles. Plus she's hilarious.
