New Off Topic Thread ..... (Everyone: please be nice)

Sia is Australia's best female singer and songwriter, hands down, there are no Aussie females that even come close

Tina is daggy, sad, and belongs in musical theatre, nice enough voice, but blah, no real creativity, occasional decent song, but in general she is very old fashioned/boring and never shook YTT habits.
Typical @reepbot likes her, for you are daggy and sometimes could be mistaken for an elderly woman with your daggy taste in TV, Agatham, etc.

Ricky - couldn't even manage to win Idol, I do like her and her voice, but.....you know no songs, no hits, not much going on, and yeah I know they used her song for STC. What does she do now? Cabaret type stuff?

Tina has a voice of an angel. pure hearted and strong that evokes emotions of joy. her creativity is astonishing. every song she sings is layered with such meaning. Everything Tina does is pure excitement. She follows her own path and is beholden to no one. An inspirational woman.

Sia is a pretentious blowhard who doesn't hold a candle to Tina Arena.

and i'm not daggy, i'm just not a sheep who follows the latest trends. i'm an individual.

SIA is not a 'trend', she is an exceptional artist my brother and i have followed since we first saw/heard her in 1997
Just because you didn't know her until her career went through the stratosphere......stuck in the past with Tina, I guess the 90s were Tina's best era......kind of ended.....and Sia was emerging, shy Sia is the last person you could claim as pretentious, she is happiest writing for others and staying out of the limelight.

First album....OnlySee (1997), she has featured on several movie soundtracks......so many nominations and awards....

i don't care about sia. Tina Arena is where the true artistry lies. whenever Tina sings rivers flow with pure water, angels dance on the heads of golden laces, and birds fly up into the sky in simple harmony.

Thats interesting to know. I actually don't know much about sia but sounds like she is more than just a singer. It annoys me someone like Beyonce gets so much love when she doesn't even write most of her own music etc.

love that song GOYTE is a talented drummer......my Nick is also a drummer so we had him on our radar longtime

Love kimbra she is another great talent

And Sia is very much a songwriter and producer , and I prefer composers as artists

Freddie Mercury - such an icon, sooooooooo gifted, and so funny

I find Beyonce very underwhelming, don't like her fairly boring voice.
But a great performer, she is an entertainer, in the old sense, all dancing/singing, like old time musicals.
I have never found even one song of hers I want to hear again

I actually think it is a magical thing when you find that artist that makes the world just feel more alive, more right, more calm, just more of whatever you need in that moment.

i guess it would be even better if you find it in a person in the romantic sense.

but more important @Isee, what is your opinion of cat person article in the new yorker? did it resonate with you? did you like it? hate it?
Where is that article is it on this thread? I am on my phone this week so I sometimes miss things

Is that why you didn't go to Tina's concert?

Still stuck in the 1990's? Tina is no longer relevant.

i didn't go to the tina arena concert for reasons i've explained before.

i wish it was still the 90's. between 90-95 in the time of press gang and tina arena. before inigo.

The reasons were not adequate. Problems with the world occur everyday and are not justification for not going to her concert.

Obviously you don't value Tina.
