Now it is possibly having come across people like Kris in my life, but I honestly reckon he embellished parts of his domestic abuse story. As bad as those kind of statements are to say, something seemed a bit off. He's relatively articulate but not a story teller or bright. He's clear spoken which masks his simplistic nature.
He's telling the story, he's walking out of the place, people listening are captivated and then, "she hit me again." Stikes me as people are in, adding more to escalate the story. That isn't a natural story telling method unless you're proffessional at telling stories, hooking people in and escalating. Which I don't think he is and it's an inappropriate subject matter to use that approach. Got people on the line and then going for further embellishment.
Also the whole, "I was planning something wonderful for her, jealously came out of no where," It may all be true but he completely strikes me like the unfaithful type playing the, "I'm so nice and lovely guy, bad things just happen, everyone else's fault" role. People pass because he's generally nice but pretty. The cynical part of me thinks he probably was off doing stuff to make her jealous and a twat. She reacted badly and he spins the story to be the, "I'm so wonderful" twist to it. Maybe he was on the phone for an innocent reason but, there'd be something else behind the reaction and of course you'd never mention that in the story.
How often do we here the, "no she was crazy" when the person is really an arsehole to the girl but being narcissistic they don't understand that.
But then I'm just a cynical bastard which helps being a lawyer. Just my initial reaction.
