Episode Australian Survivor (2016) - Episode 11 Discussion

Well, he might have been. Someone said when they film the challenges they do it from a distance, then reshoot the closer shots after the challenge finishes, which is why you never see camera crew in the shot despite there apparently being a number of them. Obviously Vavau sucked at this challenge, and had to resuck on the retakes lol.

...that's the only way that they can do those shots because if you look at this shot which was taken from above them supposedly in 'mid race'... where are all of the cameras that were supposed to be with them in the water for instance?... I don't really see any cameras anywhere close to them at all... even high powered cameras couldn't get such close up images of them even if they were out of this above shot surely?... some of it has to be reshot over and over surely?... cheers.

This episode could make a good Hitchcock movie.

Sometimes the distance shots are of the "dream team" playing or testing the challenge. It may not actually be the contestants.

Well glad Andy went, nice to see a shift happening in the majority. I'm really over the blue tribe winning all the challenges. They seem pretty smug with themselves.

Pretty obvious in a merger and individual immunity, Sanapu tribe will get rid
of the remaining Vavau tribe that make it over, one by one.
Unless before the merger, they shake it up again with swaps, which seems
unlikely but they can do anything. even send 2 over to vavau to even numbers.

Ok I feel a bit sorry for my former pony Andrew because they did everything possible to make him seem like a terrible person and player. He seems to be getting hate on social media. With his edit, he's got nothing positive going at all.

As his forum cheerleader, I am neglecting my job if I don't say something nice.

I'm sure he has a lot of redeeming and positive qualities. Good for him to go out there and surviving for more than 20 days.

He is far from the most delusional player ever. Survivor likes to play up the people who think they are running things. Because we love it when they get taken down!

Here is Drew Christy in a classic confessional before his blindside :

Finding villains and playing them up with egotistical soundbites
is a staple of any Survivor series.
Now andrew is gone, production will "focus in" on nick, phoebe
and find a third.
Nicks comments about matt's ability to sway the tribe over the
chicken issue, may be production just leading Matt into villain status.

I cant stand smug-sam.
But in individual immunity challenges, the others start to see the stronger
players as threats, and often they are voted off the first chance
the others get. so the "bro's" may be in trouble soon.

awwwwwwwww you have not been drawn into the webb?
not seeing the smug sam, you speak of - but if seen by others - AOK

I am always Behind the Sam Man (timmy told me to do it)

Smug-Sam? WTF - you have baited me!!!!!! At least he is not mouthing off that he is in CONTROL of the game (andrew) and all ......... Sam is not smug - he is a beautiful person. It is not about him, but what he is about. At least he is about something, for others .......... Think about it and have a look! Even if I didn't have this guy in the sweepie, I would support him all the way. I am sure his time on Survivor is not about HIM - but awareness of something other - go check it out .........

He is not smug - I find him as a very giving soul...... they all wanted chocolate ........ and he went all out to give his tribe that ......

I diss your post like a psssstttttt - Sam is the Man .. yeah and if he gets kicked off by others in the following weeks, so be it. At least he has a bigger heart than most, and it is not only about his xxxx

I remember reading somewhere that one of the biggest predictors of whether people would win and immunity challenge was actually whether they won food rewords. The more food reward you win the stronger you are in the better you do it immunity
I heard something similar about the camp - that the tribe with the best, most comfortable camp could be reliably predicted to win.

So the storyline was set up for Andrew's immediate fall then. A bit obvious.

The previous episode I think could have just been set up as Kat v Kristie, and this one as Andrew v Kristie. Instead the edit put in Andrew in the previous episode and Kate in this as possible targets, but it didn't seem that convincing. They even had Andrew sitting alongside Kristie and Phoebe at tribal. I can't believe Andrew was that blindsided either, we heard that he knew his name was getting thrown around.

At the start of the episode we had Kristie talking like she was always after getting Andrew out (well she could have gone for him instead of Rohan before, right?). And by the end we were supposed to believe she wanted to side with Andrew. Although I don't really like Andrew Kristie does seem a bit useless. Numbers dictate her or Phoebe are still on the outs, and I don't see why Phoebe would give her idol to Kristie either at this point.

The point not addressed in this or the previous episode is that the loyalty card that was being talked about refers to people wanting to keep numbers in their alliance for when the merge between the two tribes comes. That's why Andrew was kept previous episode and why it could have happened again. Kat was hardly good at challenges either anyway. Kristie isn't that bad at challenges however.

The immunity challenge didn't look at all close to me despite what we kept getting told. Sue probably did ok (though hyped up in the episode), but they were winning quite easily.

The chocolate feast didn't mean we saw people throwing up thankfully.

The contestant who wants to do yoga and meditation stuff (which annoys some) is a staple of Survivor.

The large recaps at the start of the episodes don't seem needed considering the previous episode is just a day old so most won't forget it.
