Melena coloured?!?!

Omg so funny!!!!!

We had an RN grad named Milena, and she was understandably mortified when she saw her name written as 'Melena' on our placement board!

:laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:

Thanks for the compliment. Given it proudly displays my crooked snaggletooth AND a white ceramic bowl I am sure Wayne Brown will fixate himself into a frothing frenzy! ;)

Are you decorative in your own home? I actually thought I was much better than I am, I mean I can always find failures in home renos, but when I had to put my money where my mouth is, I sadly learned I have no fucking idea!!!
No I'm not particularly decorative at home. I know what I don't like more so than what I do like. I am a bit of a hoarder though. I have a mix of pictures on my walls from originals to prints to black and white photos. My parents, poor people, have a collection of my cross stitches on various walls in their home and again, they're a varied group. I think they have about six, all framed.

I have had the laziest day ever thanks to this perfect grass seed sowing weather :)

My partner and I have literally spent 80% of our day on the couch!

My day has consisted of breakfast, lunch, downloading a new book, and a couple of pots of tea.

Same!

I live to eat. When I am eating breakfast, I am already imagining what I will have for lunch, and when eating lunch I am again imagining dinner. I am not a huge junk food eater, it is my portion size at dinner and dessert that tacks on my kg's.

I have slowed right down with my exercise. While I still do 30min minimum walking a day, I never ride my bike and I am flat out doing a yoga class every fortnight. They say it takes a fortnight to create a habit, I have a fortnight left of my holidays, so starting tomorrow I am going to dust off my Fitbit, and search for the Fitbit thread and formulate an exercise/eating plan. My weight at the moment is depressing me. The 2kg I originally needed to lose has crept up to 5.5kg, which is a dress size. Time to take control.
I've upped the exercise at the gym as they have a competition going and I wouldn't mind winning second or third prize. One year of free membership and six months likewise. First prize is an ipad.
My dietitian suggests eating my main meal when I get up and more or less have breakfast around 4am. Easier said than done. I am yet to work it out decently. I think that porridge and eggs (hardboiled on toast) will feature. Oh, and the occasional shake. I dunno really.

I really thought I was going to be a super decorator. It came as a genuine shock when I realised how shit I actually am.

A mix of pic's can look so awesome. Not when I do it mind. When I do it it just looks like the devil projectile vomited mismatched art everywhere :(

I would love some soup recipes if you are handing them out!

It is funny how different shifts affect different people. I actually lose 2kg every time I do night shift due to the nausea I feel at having my circadian rhythm monkied with.

I will be planning everything I put into my mouth right down to the last raw almond this week and next!!!!!
I do make a vegie soup in Winter but haven't as yet. Cannot do almonds unless they're covered in choccy. I do ration peanuts on nights.

I gave up gym after my knee surgery, and I am rethinking rejoining. I actually have a work out area downstairs, I just need to use it.

An old fit lady I used to clean for told me the secret to a healthy weight is to "eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a lord and dinner like a pauper". It is great advice, but not a rule I can live happily by.

Good luck with your gym comp. I am going to find that Fitbit thread tomorrow. We can keep a daily exercise diary to encourage and inspire each other.

I'm sure it doesn't. I think it comes down to subject matter. I have a poster of Audrey Hepburn in Funny Face, some photo poster sof San Francisco, a Picasso poster, an original oil of a country road in the Australian mountains, a cross stitch I did of Anne Hathaway's cottage. The more unusual or more like the personality of the home owner and not the mass produced stuff, the better the mix will be and work together.

I totally agree.

I have memories littered all through my home, I just wish I could display them better.

Thankyou and it helps to get my 10,000 minimum of steps up too. Good idea and yes, that breakfast like a king thing works none too well for me. I hate feeling full all day. Bogs me down. I'm supposed to keep a food diary but that's annoying. I have S health on my phone which I must get into using the food thing. I have next to no cartilege in my right knee so running is a bit dodgy. Walking and weights I do most. A little bit of running is ok though.

Right tomorrow I am going to find that thread and you can help motivate my soggy arse.

I am going to beg Meglos to be my trainer!!!!

We can motivate each other. I've realised recently that it's not necessary to try to reach twenty thousand steps a day. Someone in the health industry advised that I could cut down to ten, or even somewhere between five-ten, and still have the same or better results, as long as I add some resistance training in somewhere. So I've been doing about 7000 on a walk, plus half an hour on the exercise bike, two reps of weights, and some faffing around with a resistance band. It's a LOT easier than one 15-20 thousand step walk, especially in the cold weather.
Do you have a resistance band Trala? Mine's just a big blue piece of flubber, but I hook it around something even while watching tv, to give my arms or legs a mild workout. I have lower back pain and it helps with that too.

Holy fucking shit! Anne Hathaway's immortal?

With my gym challenge, I'm doing between 10-13,000 steps. That's good enough. I'm upping the weights sessions to at least two per week. All of that is fine, it's what goes down the gullet that's the key. Like Trala I enjoy eating. Portion control and me are strangers, haha. Not entirely true but it's a concern. What do you do with the band Meglos?

Sounds like what you're doing should give you some good results. As you say, food is about 80% of it, i love eating too, I just try to substitute junk for healthier options. And portion control, that's the hard bit.
I've only had the resistance band for a week and I'm probably not utilising it to full capacity, but I find it's quite comfortable to hook around my feet and do leg lifts for half an hour or so while watching tv, and even hooking it onto a door handle for arm stretches.
Also, interval training, especially with the weights. 7 days of walking, but only 5 with the weights and resistance.
