...I totally understand where you're coming from shaydee when you say that they most likely look at Billie as someone to aspire to because she was in their shoes just a year before and I understand that they would be pleased to actually meet her but she still isn't a 'celebrity' so to speak... to 'ooh! and aaaah!' her and go all 'gooey' is just a bit over the top I believe... it makes me think that they do it just to play up to the camera and perhaps even to 'get in their favour' perhaps?... maybe I'm just too cynical perhaps?... lol!...

Even as an apprentice at the Fat Duck would be an incredible learning experience. Did you happen to watch the 4 part series not long ago called Inside Hestons World? Man, everyone is majorly talented, even the wait staff are impeccable in every way. The head chef and maitre de run an extremely tight ship and you would have to have an extensive knowledge of how food works to even be asked to step in that kitchen. Of course though... it's just my thoughts. I personally think Billie had the qualifications to judge their dishes. In saying that though, the winner of the previous series always comes on the next series.

...no I never got to see that series unfortunately... it sounds great though... but still... even though Billie won Masterchef last year surely she would've been the lowest rung on the ladder when she went in to 'The Fat duck'?... all the other apprentices would've been way more experienced than Billie when it comes to actually working in a real kitchen?... I'm by no means taking anything away from Billie... she's great!... she's more than qualified to judge the dishes I give you that... I love her but when they go to water when she approaches them just seemed a tad bit over reactive to me that's all... each to their own I guess... it was great to see her on here again though... it was a nice gesture on Masterchef's part to do so too... perhaps it's just me being a crusty old fart eh?... lol!...

Agree completely. There's more than enough catty bitchy reality shows on tv. It's really nice to see people supporting each other mostly :)

...I like it when you post Dennis... you're always the bearer of good news lol!... wow!... those ratings are brilliant for Channel 10... yet another winning show for them... it can't just be a coincidence that they keep pumping out the best Reality shows all the time can it?... somebody on that Network knows his stuff... let's just hope that he has the foresight to snap up the rights to Big Brother when Channel 9 finally lose it... imagine how great they could make it again?... oh... to dream Sticky!... oh to dream!... cheers.

But why do you have to be a celebrity for people to to go gaga over? If food is their passion and winning Masterchef is their dream, then of course they will oooh and ahhh over her. Remember, these aren't people who just like to cook... they LOVE LOVE LOVE to cook.

Inside Hestons World was on SBS, you could probably find it on SBS catch up. I would recommend it. Heston obviously saw something in Billie & by now she would have been working in that kitchen for around 6-8 months. I wouldn't dismiss her ability that quickly. There's no way she would still be in that job if she wasn't good.

Sticky, you are far too cynical.. it's all that Big Brother you've been watching. It turns us all eventually. You have to fight to get that positivity back. Don't let Helen Woods win haha (p.s. have you seen her latest scandal?)

Masterchef and Gogglebox really is a good mix. Channel 10 really seems to have their heads screwed on when it comes to programming. Unlike some other channels *cough* *cough* channel 9

...hahaha!... don't get me started on Channel 9 lol!... whoever is running Channel 10 is doing such a brilliant job of programming... it is a credit to them for sure... even before Masterchef starts we have 'The Project' ... another great show too... cheers.
 
I like Arj Barker...on the Project, have seen him live a couple of times, he is very quick and clever. His eyes dart around at 100 miles and hour, was probably OMG, 10 years ago first saw him (before Conchords).

Here we go....I'm still a bit bored in the middle, watching cooking, so I wander.
