She has worked on some of cinema's most successful period pictures, including The Bostonians, Howard's End, Sense and Sensibility, Gosford Park and The King's Speech.
She is in constant demand because of her knowledge of costume history, the politics of fashion and how to create outfits on budget, plus she often runs a department of scores of people.
But Jenny has remained unapologetic about her wardrobe choices. She told Daily Mail: 'I've always been pretty rebellious and anarchic with my own free-wheeling style.'
She believes she would look 'ridiculous' in a 'beautiful designer gown' and prefers to stick to her fail-safe wardrobe of Marks and Spencer's jeans and fake leather jackets.
She later told
The Independent: 'I am very happy to talk about it. I don't do frocks and absolutely don't do heels, I have a bad back.
'I look ridiculous in a beautiful gown. This was a homage to Mad Max and I obviously didn't get it quite right at the BAFTAs, the scarf was meant to be an oil rag.'
'I simply don't do frilly, pretty red carpet frocks. I like doing it to other people.
'I love dressing others and I know how to make them look beautiful on screen but I have never been interested in that kind of look for myself'.
