If he hasn't caused this type of situation before I would probable keep quiet and let him take his chances as long as he was not putting anyone else in danger because it would probably not be a useful time to have any sort of difficult discussion/confrontation with him anyway. And then talk about the situation later.

An big owl is sitting one of our trees, and all the local wildlife is going nuts. Sending out a freaky screeching, squabbling riot of noise, and all the neighbourhood dogs barking.
