The Bachelor Australia 2015

Finding love has cost Sam Wood in cash
SEPTEMBER 16, 2015 12:38PM
  • THE Bachelor’s Sam Wood says he has indeed found love but it has cost him financially.

Wood’s chosen lady will be announced on Thursday night’s finale and from then on the pair will be able to socialise and spend “quality time” together in public.

However, the four-month-long quest to meet Miss Right on Ten’s reality series has been a costly exercise for the fitness trainer.

During his time courting 21 lonely hearts, Wood had to employ extra staff to run his two fitness businesses, The Woodshed and Gecko Sports. The latter is a sports and fitness program for primary school-aged children.

“It was expensive putting people in managerial roles ... and it did cost me money,” the 34-year-old told AAP. “I definitely didn’t do it (The Bachelor) for money.

“I had a couple of people step up and look after it while I was gone because I knew if I didn’t do it I would regret it for the rest of my live.”

The three single women still in search of the final rose are intruder Lana Jeavons-Fellows, sales rep and single mum Snezana Markoski and event manager Sarah Mackay.

While doing the rounds on radio this morning, Wood said he is “head over heels” with his new girlfriend, adding that he is looking forward to going public with her.

“We just want to do normal stuff, introduce her to my friends and family, meet her friends and family, go out for breakfast, go out for some beers and a bit of a laugh and recap this mad adventure,” he told Nova’s Fitzy & Wippa.

Wood revealed to KIIS FM’S Kyle & Jackie O that he and the final girl left standing have been meeting up in secret since the show wrapped. “We’ve had three or four romantic weekends away that have been very stealth operations,” he said. “We’ve been catching up, she’s fantastic.”

The fitness guru admitted that being on the show has been much harder than he anticipated, particularly being hounded by photographers all day. “They camp outside my house, they camp outside my work literally for 15, 16 hours a day.

“It’s been amazing how emotionally invested in the show the audience is, and how my world has been flipped upside down, walking down the street and that kind of stuff.”

But any Bachelor fans hoping to see Wood drop a knee during Thursday night’s finale shouldn’t hold their breath. “I’ve said from the start that I can’t see myself proposing on TV after 12 weeks, and I stick by that, that’s not really my style,” he told Kyle and Jackie O.

What the final three ladies didn’t know was that Wood had them all earmarked, along with Heather Maltman who was eliminated last week, for the final four from the time he first met each one.

Jeavons-Fellows didn’t enter The Bachelor’s realm until midway through the series but she still made a big enough impression for Wood to realise she was partner potential.

“I was always pretty sure they would be the final four, from the moment I met Lana,” he said.

“Heather was the one I could see was more into me than any of the other girls I had said goodbye to, and that was a wake-up call.”

Unlike last year’s series when Bachelor Blake Garvey ditched the winner Sam Frostbetween the end of shooting the series and the final episode airing, Wood said he is very much in love.

“We are going brilliantly. “I’m just rapt,” he said.

“This girl is not only just a great friend she is someone I feel totally in love with.”

Bolded bits made me think maybe it is lana

SHE may not have won the heart of The Bachelor, but Heather Maltman won new fans thanks to her appearance on The Project tonight.

Not only did she dish out some sass, she also revealed a new talent — rap.

She didn’t need much encouragement to launch into a live rendition of her karaoke signature song The Real Slim Shady by Eminem. Why did she do it on live national TV? We’re not exactly sure. But who really cares?

Her trademark quirky sense of humour was in full flight, too.

Co-host Pete Helliar asked whether she kept in contact with the other Bachelorcontestants, she shot back that she “remains friends with all of the girls I share a boyfriend with”.

So does she find it hard to watch The Bachelor after Sam Wood kicked her off the show?

“No, it’s not hard to watch and I think the girls are fantastic,” she said of the remaining contestants. “Sarah is an absolute champion and Snezana looks ridiculously hot and Lana is like a Disney princess — why would I not want to watch it?”

And while The Bachelor relegated Heather to the friend zone, she revealed that she has had no shortage of offers from adoring Aussie men — including “powerful declarations of love on national radio”.

So would she consider putting her hand up for the second season of The Bachelorette?

“Never say no,” she said.

Good luck, Heather. We hope you and your rapping skills are released from the friend zone soon.

I was away from Australia last year when the Bachelor season 2 was on. Can someone catch me up with Sam Frost? I know what happened - that Blake chose her and then dumped her for girl no.3. But while people felt bad for her, it also seems that some people don't like her, what's the reason for that?

I've just come to the realisation I have been one of the more vocal big time loud mouth posters in this thread, especially when it comes to Sam, umm lol. It's all fun and games. I'm Just all words I swear. But Sam really is a knob. No seriously he is
I love all your comments... I haven't always been able to watch the same time as others, so I really appreciate your late responses as I am often reading them while catching up on the episodes!

Ha ha. To be fair, he's coming off a low base and looks better after watching last year's smarmy twat on Celeb Apprentice :vomit:

You're really sweet.

This show brings out my excitement way too much, actually this thread does. I love this thread.

Tomorrow night I am going to comment in real time. I need to feel the vibes of everyone during the final episode

Edit : Sam is still a knob

I just don't have an opinion on that Blake guy, imagine had I seen the show last year, Sam would be getting off lightly from me haha. Though he does look like shrek and his voice is slowish.

Edit: Sam is a knob.

Temporarily doing a Reepbot. Remember I'm all words ;)

So looks like the finale is tomorrow. Prepare ye buckets! I wonder what reality tv show i will watch next? I am thinking maybr Survivor? The Amazing Race? Or even rewatch Big Brother?

LOL I can only imagine what the Blake comments might have been. I agree Sam's a knob, not a very polished one.

You know I am 90 percent convinced that this 'Sam met Lana before the show' rumor is true.

Yes, he did meet Lana before the show at a party.
However, my sources have come through and confirm that Sam picks Snez and Lana had told her friends that he picked her so that she would get more support since she was an intruder and plans to launch her own brand after the show airs. This is how I find out about Lana as I know one of the contestants personally but she said that she was fed the wrong information about the winner at the time and was told by Lana's best friend that he picked her which is now not the case. Also, other tidbit I was told is that Sam and Snez are made from the same cloth. Take that whichever way you want but all I am privy to is that things are not as they seem and a lot was edited out regarding Snez since it would make a poor edit for a single mum. As with all things, time will tell.

Ditto - I watched the first episode and that made me not watch anymore, although I have read articles posts etc here.

I find him very unattractive inside and out, from first glance and ongoing. I hope whoever ends up with this bloke will see that - and the girls that didn't get dat rose are happy for it!

She was simultaneously juggling playing the jilted victim while quitting her job and launching her professional moving state celebrity career. She had a pretty fair indication where the publicity/Daily Mail/hiring an agent button was. There was also a bizarro faux relationship with a footballer that caught her out.

I knew it was a bad omen for last night when a bird shat on my arm when I was out walking. :(

I'm going to play Devil's advocate and say Sarah had said several times love might transpire in the future. I say phooey to the whole competition for a first date in the real world philosophy. Zamel's are throwing a 'bespoke commitment ring' at this and she was playing hypotheticals and what if maybes. The other two girls were also totally getting their boobs front and centre where Sam couldn't miss them on the dates, meanwhile Sarah was veiling, nay shawling, hers. Big mistake.
