South Australia's Rachel, 28, was one of the quieter girls on The Bachelor this year, but she was also one of our favourites thanks to her down-to-earth and funny personality. Episode eight saw her miss out on a rose from Bachelor Sam Wood, but she's not too cut up about it — she was lacking a connection with Sam and she was OK with that. We chatted to the lovely lady on Friday, and asked her all about being close with frontrunners Sarah and Heather, the girl code in the house and what Sam's actually like away from the camera. Scroll for the full interview!

POPSUGAR Australia: How are you feeling today after watching it all back last night?

Rachel: I’m feeling OK, it was a while ago. I wasn’t too surprised when I left.

PS: Why’s that?

Rachel: I think . . . When Snez got asked to go on a second date and I still hadn’t been on a first one, I was like,"Oh, yeah. OK. [Laughs] I see what’s going on here."

PS: It must be hard being in the house for all that time and then not even getting a one-on-one with Sam. Was that disappointing?

Rachel: Yeah, of course it was disappointing because that’s why I was there. But watching it back, it’s pretty clear that he’s got some amazing chemistry with some of the girls that we probably just didn’t have.

PS: One thing he keeps saying is that he wants fireworks and that instant chemistry.Jasmin told us yesterday that she didn’t really feel that with him — did you?

Rachel: Yeah, not really! We both have a lot in common and we have a lot of similar interests, so for me it kind of . . . it felt like we could be really good friends. I wanted to go on a single date so I could know if there was anything more but I didn’t get that chance and that’s fine.

PS-what-did-you-think-Sam.jpg

PS: And what did you think of Sam? Did you like him and does he seem genuine?

Rachel: Yeah, definitely. He seems like such a nice guy. The type of person you’d want your best friend to be with! He’s a really nice, sweet guy and I’ve nothing bad to say against him . . . Even if he didn’t want to go on a date with me! [Laughs]

PS: It feels like we didn’t get to see all that much of you. Do you think you were portrayed well, or is there a lot we didn’t get to see?

Rachel: I’m happy with the way I’ve been portrayed, it’s pretty close to my personality! There were a lot of really loud girls in there, they probably talked a lot more than I did and so therefore they got a lot more airtime! Good for them, I think it kind of worked in my favour not having all my most embarrassing moments aired.

PS: I’d always be nervous of what they were going to show that week!

Rachel: Oh, it’s like any first date, you come home and you replay it in your head and you’re like, "Why did I say that?" And then for it to be aired on TV, it’s pretty full on!

PS-Who-were-your-closest-friends-house-what-can-you-tell.jpg

PS: Who were your closest friends in the house and what can you tell us about them?

Rachel: Sarah was definitely my closest friend in the house, pretty much from the first day. And we shared a room with Heather, Jacinda and Tessa . . . There was a group of eight of us in the room but definitely Heather and Sarah were my closest friends in the house.

PS: What’s Sarah like one-on-one? She seems pretty chilled and unflappable — I like that she stays out of the drama.

Rachel: I think that’s why we got along so well, we both were able to laugh at the situation and at ourselves and what was going on. I think some of the other girls probably forgot they were on a reality TV show and were taking it very seriously.

PS: They certainly are! And considering you were close to Heather, were you as surprised about her relationship with Sam as Emily and Jasmin were?

Rachel: Not really, I think that it was pretty clear there was something between Heather and Sam. It was also pretty clear that Emily and Jas weren’t . . . [laughs] impressed by that. I tried to exit the room whenever they started talking about it because it was just easier not to get involved in those types of things.

PS-Who-do-you-think-win-why.jpg

PS: Who do you think will win and why? To us it looks like Heather, Sarah and Snez are in the lead.

Rachel: Yep, definitely. I think Snez is probably the frontrunner, especially now having watched it! I would say Snez straight away now having watched it, there’s definitely something there. Watching it, they seem as if they’ve known each other forever, which is a great quality to have in a relationship.

PS: He seems crazy about her, like he can’t get enough of her.

Rachel: Yep, I totally agree!

PS-What-did-you-take-from-experience.jpg

PS: What did you take from the experience?

Rachel: I learnt that I am even more loyal than I thought, which is good. I like that! I thought I’d go in and just see how it went and be like, "Oh, it doesn’t really matter about the other girls because we’re all there for the man." But you go in and you spend more time with the girls and you make really close friends — suddenly it’s become this multi-faceted thing where you don’t really want to hurt anyone but you also want to try and experience everything you can.

PS: We find the whole idea of the girl code so strange, because you all become great friends but you’re also falling for the same guy.

Rachel: It’s so bizarre! I think the nicest thing about it is how encouraging the girls are. I don’t think you see it much [on TV] but, especially for me on the day that I left, I was the only one who hadn’t been on a single date and all the girls kept saying, "I just want him to see you, to see how funny you are and how nice you are!" They really wanted that — we all did, for everybody. I guess because we’re all in the same boat, we all knew why we were there . . . You kind of want the best for everyone.

PS: The sisterhood that forms is one of our favourite things about the show.

Rachel: Definitely. And it’s a sisterhood like no other, you form a bond that you never would have if you weren’t in that situation.

He still has the option through a nanny (I'm kidding)

Women around the world will be celebrating though, the gays too. I personally love the empire they created for themselves

Haha yeah. My mum was telling me some silly rumour about Becks and Tom Cruise being secret lovers, pretty funny. But yes I too am a fan of them and all they do.

The posh and beck thing, I call bs. I don't believe it. Not possible. No way. Nope. It can't happen.

Yeah I couldn't find any recent rumours during my google. Tabloid beat up by the looks of it.

That rumour is sooooo old. I'd hope Becks would do a bit better than Crazy Cruise tho.

Here's How Sam Wood Responded to All Those Bachelor Rumours
by Jessica Chandra 21/8/15

Sam-Wood-Responds-Bachelor-2015-Rumours.jpg

Gosh it must be hard being on The Bachelor! And we're not even talking about the concept of the show — we're talking about the secret-keeping that has to happen once filming is over. Remaining tight-lipped is hard for the average person, so it doesn't help that over a million Australians are interested in every facet of your life as well, and that social media has made it easier than ever to uncover things about you. Oh, and that you have to keep things under wraps for months. Welcome to reality TV fame!

There have been plenty of reports flying around about the current series of The Bachelor, from who Sam Wood has already picked to who he's previously hooked up with. He spoke to KIIS FM's Kyle and Jackie O this morning to clear up the rumours . . .

The report: Bec and Sam have previously hooked up — in Bali. There are photos of them together.

Sam's response: Sam told Kyle and Jackie O, "The truth of that matter is that I was at a restaurant in Bali. We were literally leaving a restaurant, her and her friend arrived, they came over and spoke to us for three minutes, got a photo, and then I had never seen her again until the show started . . . I categorically did not kiss her or have a relationship with her — I don’t know where that nonsense came from."

Sam also said Bec never brought it up with him when they spent time together filming the show, but that he learned through "one of the girls that goes a long way on the show." So basically he only had confirmation that he had met Bec before, but it was through another girl, and only at the end of filming. Interesting.

The report: Snezana doesn’t win because she said she hasn’t spoken to Sam since filming ended, and he has ended up with Heather because she said Sam gave her warnings of when he kissed other girls on dates.

Sam's response: "That’s not true," Sam told Kyle and Jackie O. "I haven’t been speaking to Heather. I think what Heather meant by that is she got a heads up in real time during the filming, because sometimes the girls would say, ‘What happened on your date with so-and-so?’ and I felt it was important to be honest with them, particularly the girls I was really close with, obviously. If they ask you directly, ‘Did you kiss Snezana on yesterday’s date?’ Well, yes I did."

The report: Emily has spoken out about her single date with Sam and said the show edited out passionate kisses and more fun moments, instead portraying it as slightly awkward.

Sam's response: According to Sam on the Kyle and Jackie O Show, "Look, there was a bit of a kiss on the date with Emily, but it was one of those . . . Obviously I watch the show with my mates, and don’t know what’s going to be in and what’s going to be out, and that was an eight-hour date so they’re not going to show every minute of what happened. There was a bit of a kiss there, but it was a bit of an awkward date.

"What I hear, I guess, from production is what goes in is what’s in line with the story, you know? And if that was the most romantic date ever, then I’m sure the kiss would have been in there. But it was one of those dates where it kind of . . . And this is kind of my relationship with Emily in a nutshell: it’s a bit hot and cold. And it’s quite early for us to be hot and cold, I guess."

The Bachelor "Date Crashers" Are Here! Meet Lana and Rachel

We're almost five weeks into the third season of The Bachelor, and so far we've experienced all the highs and lows we were hoping for — except one. We've seen the catfights and the tears, the bad behaviour and the walk-outs. We've also seen the romantic kisses, some surprisingly real connections and the close bond the bachelorettes share in the house. The one thing we were waiting for? Intruders.

This week, two beautiful women will arrive at the Bachelor mansion to shake things up. One brunette, one blonde, both are beautiful, in their late 20s, and here to find true love. Traditionally — on all reality TV shows — intruders don't fare very well. Lana and Rachel are a month behind the other bachelorettes, which means they've got lots of catching up to do. Existing ladies Ebru, Bec, Nina, Emily, Sarah, Heather and Snez have forged connections, built solid alliances and friendships, and kind of know where everyone stands with Sam. For intruders Lana and Rachel, it's a guessing game — one that we can't wait to watch! Scroll to get to know the newbies, then get familiar with the original bachelorettes here.

Oh really? I'd never heard it before and thought my ma was being silly, but I'm probably looking for goss in all the wrong places. Your second sentence is 100% accurate though of course, but that's a given.

Honestly sis you need to work on your gossip game. It was when Becks was at LA Galaxy and doing all those double dinner dates with Posh, Tom and Katie. Gossip at the time was Katie had some foresight and got proof so that when her contract was up she'd get everything in the divorce.
