One religious person out of millions of customers hardly signifies anything. You can find hypocrites from all walks of life, it's not restricted to any particular group of people. Obviously with secular/non-religious people it wouldn't be about upholding moral standards but some other issue/s.

It's not just one though - I think there's been like 3 accounts of high profile homophobic evangelists been caught with men either in public or they're stupid enough to go on grindr.
It's to the point where people are already expecting a scandal to come out if you're a homophobic and uber Christian male.

Like I said hypocrisy is not restricted to any group of people. It is a trait found pretty much among anybody regardless of their political ideology, religious beliefs, social status, etc.. But I suppose you being gay you have a bone to pick with 'christians' for obvious reasons. It doesn't surprise me in the slightest because I've reconciled that it is part of human nature. Maybe you should be worrying more about gays in Muslim countries that are routinely beaten up or worse killed for acting out on their sexual orientation.

Actually, my family is Catholic, however unlike a lot of Christians...they take the Bible with a grain of salt and don't cherry pick sins.
Muslims aren't relevant to this conversation as it wasn't a Muslim caught out for cheating, I side eye you for trying to slip it in though.

No it doesn't, you assume I'm against religion when that isn't the case, I'm also fairly open minded, those like Duggar, who insist on being 'righteous' are destined to fall, that was my whole point.

Your other stuff almost wants to direct the convo to a muslim vs christianity direction, from which I'd rather not lol.
 
I thought all Christian were meant to be 'righteous', striving to live by their moral code the best they can. Some are more vocal than others about it but still doesn't change the fact that that is the aim for all its followers.

To be honest I don't particularly care what some redneck in the US pontificates about. His opinion on any given subject are meaningless to me, it has no direct effect on my life so it's of no consequence to me that he's caught out not living by the standards he claims he upholded and/or wanted others to do likewise. *shrugs*

I have to say that Catholic hypocrisy concerns me far more than some redneck 'alleged' pedophile grub as they're guilty of covering up for hundreds (if not thousands) of proven pedophile priests in their ranks for decades across the world.

Whilst we're on the subject of hypocrisy I think it's kind of apt that christians are routinely singled out for this sort of ridicule and seldom, if ever, followers of other religions. Not that I'm surprised as it's a par for the course among the anti-religion brigade/atheist/etc.. to gleefully pour scorn on christians; they're an easy target 'cos they're unlikely to retaliate in a violent manner unlike some other religious nutcases. lol

I guess the point that I'm trying to make is that that energy would be better spent in highlighting real crimes that are regularly committed against humanity by religious followers such as gays that are subjected to torture and sometimes death in the Middle East and other Muslim countries on a fairly frequent basis.

But the typical dismissive attitude that the Left in Western democracies has towards the plight of their fellow LGBT members in those regions saddens me to be honest. It reeks of cowardice and lack of conviction in their beliefs.

Nobody can act that pure or perfect, when you act without faults you are destined to fail.

You're giving this guy too much credit. I'd never even heard of the guy, what sort of influence does he have on the wider world? Christians already have a book that outlines their moral code. They don't need this redneck or some other hypocrite that's caught engaging in behaviour that's at odds with their moral standards for them to follow by example.

Bottom line is this duggar fellow is not the be all and end all of christianity. He's a mere mouthpiece, who's lucky to have somehow wormed his way into that position, that can be easily be replaced by many others who'd eagerly take his place.

Therefore his downfall is of little relevance in the grand scheme of things. If you think him being caught will discourage anybody else from being overly and vocally righteous out of fear of also being found out failing to adhere to those principles than you're going to be sadly disappointed.

Swift is a whole 'nother kettle of fish tho. Her reach and influence is world wide, constantly being shoved in my face 24/7 everywhere I go. I resent that such a crass commercialised opportunistic phony on the back of manufactured image has successfully fooled people into buying her crappy music and in the process made her incredibly wealthy. So yeah swift offends me waayy more than some nobody in a podunk city I'v never heard of ever will. :D
