TBL Families

Yep, big mistake IMO.

Brett from a few seasons ago was posting on whirlpool and did say that the weeks are basically 7 days now.

That's where they went wrong. I don't care if it's not actually a week. It's pretty obvious that it's not a week. I couldn't care less about the show being fake, it's entertaining. I hope the weeks where longer when filing. Apperntlty the filming started in April and wrapped up not long ago or is still filming. I'm hooping that it's a series like it was back in its glory days. If I wanted to watch people lose weight at a normal pase I'd go to a weight watchers club.

Yes, because your entertainment >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> the expectations this show sets for people who are actually trying to lose weight.

You would have to be pretty sociopathic not to care about what those poor contestants have to go through in the name of "entertainment".

Bahahaha.... Hey @Zcsund1234 looks like we are sociopathic because we love watching a certain TV show. God forbid we are being entertained by a reality TV  which is 2nd most important reasons for making a TV show  , the first being to have something to show in between between the ads :D

Haters gonna ... Etc...etc....

So the contestants this season are..

Commando— Johnee, 38, his wife Tenealle, 26, Johnee’s brother Moses, 39, and his wife Rina, 37.

Tiffany -Sisters Sylvia, 28, Kayla, 24, and Sam, 26, and Sam’s partner Cliff, 26.

Michelle and Cammando have the 2 best teams on first look. Shannon stuck with the parents/ kids couple again and Tiffany stuck with 3 girls. Can't recall what types of realitionships made up Michelle and Steves teams last time (we totally need a couples name for them btw.... Did you see that Michelle is pregnant?)
Michelle always does well with her teams. Hey do you know any of the stats between the trainers like who has had the most winners etc... Stuff like that?

So looking forward to seeing the trainers weight in. Thet can't have gained that much weight?

Good point there young @beardymac. There are thousands of Australians trying to lose weight and having unrealistic shows like this will only hinder them on their journey.

Wha the hell is this?

Oh wait I know, you're just trying to piggyback on the idea that @Zcsund1234 and I are sociopaths. We are horrible people and you are this super understanding progressive guy who is caring, understanding and sympethic to the contestants. These people were not forced to do this show with a gun to their heads, I do not appreciate you coming into this thread with you fake political correct bullshit. I love this show, I'm also excited about watching and talking about it with what seems to be the only other TBL fan on this forum (apologies if anyone else is a fan), but yet hear you are, trying to make yourself look all righteous, while me and anyone who agrees are horrible evil sociopaths.

Wrong again and it would be a waste of time trying to explain to you why.

Good, would not want you wasting your precious time on making up more lies.

Yet again you are here, having an opinion against mine ...again, how many times, I don't know I've lost bloody count. Every fucking thread it feels like.

More lies? What the hell us that supposed to mean?

"Oh no, someone is disagreeing with me! Whatever shall I do?" Whatever. Forums are for disagreements and robust friendly arguments not hand holding and circular agreements.

Having recently lost some weight myself I was just showing a little compassion to those contestants. I am not trying to present myself as some kind if righteous figure, just as somebody who is concerned about the impact this show could have on people trying to lost weight. I am sorry for using the word sociopathic, that was uncalled for.

I know this isn't directed at me, but allow me to bite.

My issue is not with the conduction of the show. Sure, these people signed up for a weight loss show. They knew they were putting themselves at a health risk - they probably waive a lot of things in their contracts. I feel this is troubling - that we turn this into "entertainment"; but you're not wrong - this is what they signed up for.

What viewers of this show sign up for is a perceived "reality".

The problem is; by fabricating "weeks" on the show; many viewers at home are tricked into believing this is some sort of attainable result. "Hey, Big Wal dropped a massive 12 kilos in one week! Good on him! Maybe I can do that too!"

Then, of course, they can't. It's incredibly dangerous for many people to do anything near that. Many people drop maybe 1-3 kilos max in a fortnight. Maximum. The "boring" numbers Zcsund was talking about. And they get disheartened. Suddenly, this whole "You can do it! You can do anything!" mantra the show preaches sounds very facetious.

Also I should add that the show gives an unhealthy idea of what "healthy" is. If you're 120kgs but you can carry that over a marathon, you're healthy. If you've dropped from 150kgs to 90kgs but you're skin and bone; you're not healthy.

What viewers of this show sign up for is a perceived "reality"?
Exactly, anyone fool who one believes, that the way people on this show lose the weight is healthy and attainable, and two who believe losing more than a kilo a week is ok amd healthy for long term weight loss should have done their research. A quick internet search will tell you exactly how bad this show is for weight loss. Who the hell does not do their research on something as important as obesity/diet/ exercise?

Re: the winners and trainers.

Season 1 - Adro was trained by Michelle
Season 2 - Chris was commando (he was soooo skinny)
Season 3 - Sam was Shannon
Season 4 - Bob was shannan (I adored Bob. My all time favourite)
Season 5 - no idea who was even on, I guess I didn't watch?
Season 6 - a girl trained by Tiffany, but she was actually eliminated early and did it all at home. The family with most combined weight loss was trained by Shannon.
Season 7 - Margie was trained Michelle
Season 8 - the mother and daughter won I remember, no idea who trained them though.
Season 9 - commando.

Kinda sad that I'm apparently a TBL savant and can recall that, but yeah it's fairly when with winners, everyone has had at least one winner.

I'm actually surprised that Michelle is coming back this season, I had heard they were casting for a new trainer but they must have just gone with Tiffiny. I assumed that they couldn't afford Michelle, her salary for this show must be pretty huge these days.

And their bodies, you can't imagine what a weighted run on sand is going to do to a knee joint with people of that body weight.

With her being pregnant, I wonder what the time frame was as to when it was filmed and is her pregnancy going to be incorporated into the show? Going by the food eating promos, it would be yucky for her if it's fairly recent. I suspect it was done much earlier this year.

I guess we are sociopaths lol. I get its not the healthiest way to lose weight but I like seeing people losing lots of weight. But yes I'm so pumped. And on our BL it's pretty tight between the thre original Aussie trainers. Michelle has had Bob and Margie. Commando has had Chris, Robyn and Katie and Craig. Whilst Shannon has had Sam and Lisa. Adro was trained by Jillian from the U.S.

But I'm so excited and the contestants actually look really big. Or is it just me? But they look bigger then the average contestant. Especially the girls.

Haha yep a sociopath right here. Maybe even a psychopath

I totally forgot that Bob and Jillian did season 1, well actually I didn't really watch it, I just remember Adro in his red t-shirt so assumed he was Michelle.

Yeah the contestants do seem on average bigger. Usually there are some that are mid-range but I feel the combined weight must be bigger this year. More big and unrealistic numbers to drop in a week I guess haha.
