The Bachelor Australia 2015

The true story behind how they cast The Bachelor (and the Bachelorettes). (so some of your stories aren't the true stories?!?

“They need to be ambitious, they need to be accomplished and yes, they do need to be good looking.”

Twenty women, locked in a mansion vying for the attention of one half-decent-looking man. It’s a concept that has spawned 19 seasons in America, and three and counting in Australia (as well as three disturbingly successful spin off series).

The Bachelor – at its core – tries to be a show about finding love. And that’s what the producers and creators drill into viewers’ brains time and time again.

Ten’s Head of Entertainment, Stephen Tate, says he believes wholeheartedly in the ‘journey’ of ‘love’. He spoke to Media Week and answered a few big questions: How they choose the Bachelor, how they choose the contestants, and whether anyone is there for fame, rather than…cough… ~true love~.

I'm guessing they won't post a pic of Blake and Sam Frost in this article ...

How do they choose The Bachelor?
Basically, Tate says the guy they pick needs to possess a very particular set of skills and personality traits. He’s gotta tick quite a few boxes (so he can be appealing to as many boxes as possible *WINK*).

“First and foremost, they need to likeable,” Tate said.

“They need to be ambitious, they need to be accomplished and yes, they do need to be good looking. [But] the most important thing is that they need to be at the right stage of their life to be making a lifelong commitment, and that’s a fairly narrow window.” (Is it really?)
oh so thats the window Blake missed right?

How do they choose the contestants?
Once they’ve got their guy, it’s time to choose the women who will compete for the Bachelor’s lurve.

Tate says the chosen Bachelor is asked what his type is (notice how many brunettes are on this season? That’s not a coincidence) and the network base their choices on the Bachelor’s preferences.

“Essentially, he holds up the types of people that he is really attracted to, the types of people that he’s had relationships with in the past that have and haven’t worked, and we try to make sure that we have as many viable contestants as possible,” Tate said.

Is everyone really in it for the right reasons?
Tate vehemently denies the suggestion that contestants were in it for fame.

“They have gained notoriety,” Tate said.

“But the casting team works really hard to make sure that the people we choose are there for the right reasons. If we didn’t do that, the audience would understand pretty quickly that people were maybe there for the publicity that it brings.

“If we didn’t do that, we might not have ended up with the fantastic two relationships that we had from series one and two.

ummmmm did he actually WATCH the aftermath of series two at all???

Yeah you're taking this way too seriously, I'm not getting into it.

I'm taking it far too seriously? 99% of your posts on this thread have been an agenda against a random chick on a reality tv dating show that you've never met. I find that really confusing personally but whatever.

Yeah, I think you need to go take a walk or cool off or something, it's really not worth getting that worked up over but whatever...I'm really not interested in getting in a spat with you.

answers a couple of questions we had about 'that date' ... well maybe YOU didn't have them but I did ...

Jacinda from The Bachelor has got some things to say.
“In every way possible, I think she’s adorable.”

And with those words, Jacinda’s hopes of becoming the lucky fiancee of this year’s Bachelor with a capital “b” were dashed.

She was booted from the show last night before we even got to the rose ceremony, after finding out she’d gone on a date that was EXACTLY THE SAME as the dates our erstwhile bachelor took two other ladies on.

She was pissed.

jacinda-2.jpg

Jacinda ate really gross things for Sam Wood, and then he dumped her. Not cool, Wood.
this really isn't 'pissed' .. this is 'WTF am I eating and since when was this a good idea"

We spoke to Jacinda today about those controversial (well, not really but the producers so wanted it to be) identical dates, what it was like being on the show and who’s giving her all the roses and probably some other varieties of flowers now.

Jacinda was notably very upset after she found out that she’d been on a “groundhog date” and that two other girls, Bec and Ebru, had been on the exact same date, and we can’t blame her.

“I’d been there a month,” she told Mamamia. “I needed to get to know Sam, and I finally got a date. It was my chance, and I wanted it, and I got it.” It's been a month already??

jacinda-4-720x547.jpg

Jacinda says she knew from the first day that Sam Wood had chemistry with some of the other girls.
Jacinda can spot a friend-zone from a mile off

It wasn’t all it was cracked up to be, though. All the girls who went on the same date (same flat tyre, same flirty waitress, same icky food) knew something was up when their time with our Bach Sam only lasted two hours, as opposed to the usual 12 hours.

“I was feeling upset before I even knew,” she said. “I was trying to open up but he was preoccupied, obviously with all the other things going on.”

She and the other two girls felt really betrayed by the deception. I mean, imagine waiting a month for a date with one guy, having it cut short and then finding out he did the exact same thing with two other women?

“I thought, ‘We’re going to be a laughing stock. Holy crap, we’re being made fun of,'” she said. “It didn’t sit well. It’s OK to be part of a joke, but when you’re in that situation, you feel like you are the joke. I made myself vulnerable — we talked about relationships and our feelings and stuff — and I couldn’t stop thinking back on all the things I said and cringing.”

And how the hell did they pull off this dastardly three-date caper? Jacinda says Ebru went first, and never returned home that night. Next day, it was Jacinda’s turn, and on the same day, Bec got her date card and also had her groundhog experience.

Her one and only date was a big disappointment for Jacinda.

It’s unclear if Jacinda and Ebru were kept in some kind of holding cell in the meantime.

It seemed kind of rude that Jacinda didn’t even get to the rose ceremony part before Sam bid her goodbye, but she says it made sense.

“If the date established anything it was that we were just friends. I was crying because I didn’t want to the leave the girls,” she said.

jacinda-3.jpg

Jacinda was tearful, but mostly because she didn’t get to say goodbye to the other girls.
just want to call BULLDUSTERS right here because on the KiisFm interview she said she WAS allowed to say goodbye to the other girls

“I left positive. It might look like I was a mess but I had to walk out of there at that point. There was no point in bothering with the rose ceremony.

“Sam and I were fine. We were joking. I said, ‘I’ve just made another bloody guy friend. I don’t need any more guy friends!’ And he said, ‘You’re going to come to my wedding,’ and I said, ‘I am going to MC your wedding!'”

Jacinda says the best thing about her Bachelor experience was meeting all the other girls.

“It’s wasn’t hard to get along, even though we were competing. I find it surprising that people would think we wouldn’t. We were together 24/7 and we were the only ones who understood what each other were going through. We were like sisters in one big house.”

jacinda-1-720x547.jpg

Jacinda and Sam Wood: friendzoned each other.

Although she admits there were some curious differences.

“Sam had instant chemistry with Emily, and Heather, of course. Also Snez and Sarah. With those girls it was instant and we all knew it,” she said.

“In real life, you would back off if you saw that, but in there, you’ve got to give it a chance. I thought, ‘I deserve to see if things could go somewhere with us.'”

It wasn’t the first time Sam Wood made Jacinda cry

As we know, things did not go anywhere between Jacinda and Sam Wood — but she’s just fine.

She’s reportedly been seeing someone she met before she went on the show — and all is going well.

That’s all she’ll say about that — maybe Jacinda’s a little over having her romances played out for the TV-watching public!

Yeah I don't think you're going to see it.

Others have agreed though, so at least I don't think I'm seeing things.

If she displays it I'll see it. Just like if Emily displays other qualities than cow I'll see that too. Others have agreed with me too, doesn't mean my opinion is any more valid than yours.

At least with Emily you get what you see. Who knows what unpleasant thoughts lie beneath the scheming mind of haughty Heather :pompus:?

I think you may have read that wrong, I said YOUR opinion was just as valid as mine.
And yeah I agree, sheesh it's just a show! lol
Yeah but when I said that I meant others have seen it too so I must at least be onto something, even if you disagree.
It didn't mean your opinion isn't as valid, does that make sense?

I feel like I have to clarify on here because I'm not one of those posters that gets personal when I disagree, I just talk about the topic at hand.

Perhaps, I'm just going on what I think. People always see things in different ways. What I think is normal a lot of people probably don't, on the other hand there's nothing wrong with lively debate.

I'm not sure anything around here can really be classified as normal can it?

if it can I'm turning up to the wrong place ;)[DOUBLEPOST=1439794510][/DOUBLEPOST]
and that's a damn big shocked face @crimmy lol
what can I say .... I'm big on emotions :p

Exactly, Emily is real and not fake.
I was thinking today that Sandra would be in the top 50% (third even?) of dates in the house. Yes, there would be public embarrassment and humiliation, but she would be fun and would probably have handled the groundhog day date with no problem.
