How is your father doing??? I hope he is going good. X
Hi Lucas. Yes, thankyou, he's doing fairly well at the moment. Has his good and bad days fatigue and pain wise but generally he's ok. He also has neuralgia from shingles which is giving him a lot of grief. Still hasn't been sick which is good. Had his third chemo today. I think he's having a scan as well to see how the mass is progressing in shrinkage. It's a day by day prospect really.

Thanks for keeping us updated Khun Khun. I am glad to hear he is doing fairly well. :)

I hope things continue going good for him. X

I'm so sorry you have been going through some rough times recently @hooleydooley. I hope things get better for you soon.

And I have to say like fuck he didn't mean to re-home your dog. The bond between owner and animal is something precious and treasured. A dog will always love you no matter what. He wanted you to hurt so he did that cunt of an act.

Thinking of you. Glad to hear he's doing alright for now. He is lucky to have such a loving and supporting daughter, it's amazing how many people don't even have that in times like this.

Good news! Yesterday Dad got the results from his Pet scan which he'd had on Monday. The mass has shrunk to such a degree that it's put him in a form of remission. He still needs to have his other three chemo sessions and then will have 2x5 consecutive days of radiotherapy, lasting ten minutes per time. Hopefully that will be it. A very happy family indeed and a not bad early 82nd birthday present.

Such great news! I'm so happy for you and your family. All the best for the rest of the treatment but really that's about as good as news on the topic comes.

mmmmm I have a 'friend' That was offered a really good contract job ...... for 6 months -and all was looking so pretty .........

He went to work and after 1 day was told by text message he was too OLD to be there .......... It is a young mans job!!
What the fuck! ... suppose the prior 30 years experience etcetc counts for NOTHING!!!! and he did what was told for him to do, and did it better ......

By my side, I have a shattered man. He was told he is TOO OLD!!!!!

Anyway, my point is about people putting people down for their own worth. I know this guy is awesome at his job and can fix any problem that is given to him.

He is a Master in his work.

He is questioning himself now ........I have a shattered man here :(

For fuck sake, just because someone says it doesn't mean it's true!!

If that is enough to "shatter" him, he must have been pretty fragile to begin with.

People put people down. That's life. It is up to you what you do with that negative information. It can either make you stronger or make you shatter. The choice is yours.

My advice not that you asked. Wipe his tears, suck him off and tell him to get on with it. People who are awesome at their jobs get recognition and promoted, that is a fact.

I'm reading this and thinking surely they didn't terminate his contact BY TEXT?!

IF that is correct then it is a disgusting way to treat someone - at least have the guts to call him into a meeting and discuss it face to face. They have no balls to do that!!

sorry Trala but WTF?!

do you live in the real world? unfortunately in this day and age there ARE awesome people, doing awesome jobs being managed by absolute idiots who don't recognise their own ass from their elbow but have been put into positions managing people who actually DO the work that is necessary to keep things going

and unfortunately some people who have very nice shiney new degrees are put in positions managing staff and do not have a single clue how to do so - and no REAL job experience or training to really understand the implications of high handed decisions they make on the day to day running of their business

your 'advice' was hardly helpful in a thread called "R U Ok?" was it? maybe pull back on the ME ME ME values and think a little more on why HooleyDooley had the need to post in THIS thread in the first place!

a little compassion and understanding would be nice ... what happened? Did YOU have a shitty start to YOUR day and feel the need to take a swing at someone?

They told him that AFTER he started? I don't think it's actually legal to give that sort of reason to send someone home. You can't even be discriminatory in a job description, even though people hire who based on their preferences anyway. So to overtly say it - wow, I'd be pursuing that further if I was him. Mind you he probably doesn't want to go back anyway..

What I said was, just because one person says you are too old, doesn't mean it's true! I stand by that.

But you're right, in real life people prefer straight talking advice they can use. In a forum they respond better to a pity party with a chorus of "poor little you... The world is a bad bad place"

Hooley knows me well enough to know the place my advice came from. And the best thing when it comes to advice is you can take it or leave it.

Oh and for the record, I woke up being spooned by my partner, and then got smothered in puppy love.

straight talking advice they can use ... lemme see ... give the guy a blow job and turn his world to rights?! rather short term advice don't ya think ;)

to me Hooley sounded like she wanted to vent rather than enter a pity party ... but by all means ... advise away

unfortunately I don't think contractors are afforded the same rights with regards to termination ... plus there's the whole 'probationary period' minefield that allows people to get away with this sort of crap
and we're seeing more and more fulltime positions lost to contract positions these days just for this very reason ... easy come, easy go ...

Oh my God! That was a joke! The advice part was, just because one person says it doesn't mean it's true!!!

And for the record, I did advise away - nek minutt you showed up red faced and full of outrage! I think you're right, Hooley did want to vent, you're the one who wanted to turn it into pity party.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!?

not really sure my comment was turning anything into a pity party

pity party would surely be along the lines of

awww poor thing - tell him we all love him and he's NOT old!!! they're just big meanies and we know he's got to be sooo much nicer than those nasty people

whereas I said they lacked the balls to do it face to face and basically they were gutless and it was a disgusting way to treat someone

hmm pity party? not so much!

crimmy & empathy 1
trala @ sarcasm/humour/MEMEME values big fat 0

(waiting for 'nek minutt' when u race back to tell me what a loser I am because I didn't wake up spooning your partner and being drooled on by your cute puppies ... oh but wait - I have my own partner ... but sadly these puppies - they be all my own! so hold the MEMEME vs the rest stuff - I'm not in the market for your ever-so-gracious put-downs and you'll just drag your bestie WB in here so you can both start chest-thumping over the joys of home ownership and bank accounts yet again *yawn*)

did someone say lunch? toodles!

Yes I was venting - He is handling the situation quite well now. I think the worst part was putting plans in place and feeling relief that all will be steady for a while and then to have uncertainty. The guy who owns the business has know him for
20 years and worked with him before.

The 'foreman' had attitude and on site they found a meth pipe and also a bag of ice! mmmmmmm so it makes you wonder!

He wanted to go back and have a chat with the big boss, but thought fuck em!

Yes, contractors do not have rights here.
Thinking we will put a report into Human Rights, just so it is reported.
