i hate meeting new people. i really do. i altways get so anxious about what i will say. my hands start to shake, i give less eye contact than normal, and i just want to die. and then i say something stupid to this new person i'm meeting. they look at me like i'm a freak, and later that day my mind replays that encounter over and over again until i just want to crack open my skull so that my bad thoughts could dissapear forever. because i'm always thinking 'i'm not nomal, i'm just a retarded piece of shit, a pathetic loserwho deserves to die.'. but i'm trying to think more positive thoughts, trying to be more normal. i do like having negative thoughts than positive thoughts. i have always felt more comfortable being insulted than praised. to b honest praise freaks me out, because i feel that i never deserve any. i only feel that criticism is the right thing for me because i need to hear the truth. to me any compliments i get are just lies. i know they think i suck.

Hey reepbot.

A lot of people are going through this: Social Anxiety/Social Phobia. Even if you are not on the Autism spectrum. I think there is a lot of sensitive people out there. You are definitely not alone reepbot.

To relive the anxiety it can help to learn breathing exercises. You can do deep breaths counting from 1..2..3..4..5 then breathe out counting 6..7..8..9..10 a few times. Practising it a few times a day helps and gets you in a routine to calm yourself down. Best to do these in situations when you first notice your anxiety is building.

Regular excercise everyday can burn your nervous energy out. Running or going on a exercise bike is good.

You can listen to anxiety free videos on YouTube. I personally like this one
This is for when you are going to sleep though. ;)

You can also listen to anxiety free music on there as well which may help calm you down.

Also sometimes when you notice anxiety is coming you could try writing your feelings down in a book. Writing can take your mind off the anxiety attack.

There should be a lot more stuff on the internet you could search for on different relaxation techniques for anxiety.

I think it is also beneficial to learn why and what happens when you are having an anxiety attack. It is good to know why the body is acting the way it is and what is causing you these intense feelings.

You might even wanna see a psychologist who deals with Aspergers and Anxiety. They will know a lot more exercises you can do to help your anxiety and it can help talking to someone.

I do see a psychologist though.

I could write my feelings in this thread?

but thank you for that, @Lucas!

Who me? :bucktooth::bucktooth::bucktooth: Haha.

Reepbot, being "normal" is overrated. All that matters (or SHOULD matter) is if you are a nice person or not. Treat people how you would like to be treated.

That is what I live by and look for in other people. :)

My advice is to be yourself. At the end of the day you should really only care about what YOU think of yourself. To be truly happy you must be happy and comfortable within yourself.

Just my two cents. :)

And by the way having Aspergers should not be seen as something bad. You just have a different way of viewing the world. You wouldn't be who you are today without it. :)

Very good advice. Some days I am happy with myself and other day's I'm not. I never really feel comfortable within myself because I always think people are thinking bad things about me.

Oh. That is good that you are seeing a psychologist reepbot! :) I hope seeing them helps you feel better.

You can write your feelings in this thread if you want to but you might want to keep them private? I don't know. It's up to you and what you feel comfortable with.

Remember that you can't control what other people think and you might not even be right in guessing what they actually are thinking. ;)

I never really was a Harry Potter fan sorry.

I did see the first two movies but that was it.

So this new movie is based on a book Harry Potter read 70 years earlier?

Yeah.

I thought you would have been a big harry potter fan for some reason?

What are your passions, Lucas?

Yeah.

I could never really relate to any of the Harry Potter characters. Perhaps it was all too intelligent for me? Haha.

My passions...oh my...hmm...
I love animals, music, Great TV shows, helping people and BIG BROTHER!!!!!

@reepbot When I was younger I couldn't even go into a shop to buy myself an icecream. I had totally crippling shyness, as we called it then. Today I think I would have been diagnosed as having social anxiety or something like it. It was totally hideous! Every day I was in a lather of sweat, which made it worse. I couldn't raise my arms because the sweat would show. Oh god, it was awful. I eventually taught myself to be 'normal' by pretending to be an actress and putting on a show of confidence. The boys started to love me! I had friends! It is still just a show, though. I am most comfortable when I'm alone.

That is some good advice thank you. I always did love acting in high school, so maybe i'll do that.

Yeah I guess you do have to "bluff" (act) your way through these uncomfortable social situations even though you are very scared. But it is something you do to survive. I don't really know how to explain it but @Jam is right on the money.
