So...Back In 2015?

omg why can't big brother just be a social experiment. D: please.

The days of any reality show being a "social experiment" anymore are over... I idea that a show like BB can just go back to basics won't work... Commercial networks won't make money by producing a show like BB was back in 2000... Anyone willing to go on a show like BB is ultra aware of their surroundings... And your average viewers tastes in reality television have changed drastically... That said I think there can be a happy medium between the over the top garbage Nine was dishing out and the show BB used to be... But I'm still struggling to see how ever with a drastic improvement in quality and possibly a new format how any other network could benefit from keeping the BB name alive... Considering how badly the show has aged over the years...

You gotta give people a chance to literally forget about the show, otherwise audience fatigue will prevent anyone from tuning in. I'd say at least a two year break is needed.

There really isn't much to "forget" about the show over the last coupe of years to begin with... The issues with Nine's revival aside it's not as if hoards of viewers came running when they had four years to "forget" about it the first time around... A potential improvement isn't enough to carry the show forward in the eyes of the viewer... Especially considering the way the show has been marketed and failed to live up to in the past...

Today I recieved confirmation for a close informant who has also confirmed that there is No Big Brother 2015.
Thanks for the update.

Though the way you've phrased it as "No Big Brother 2015", instead of "It's not coming back at all" has me wondering if there has been a change on the TEN/Foxtel/online front that you can't/won't reveal yet... Or maybe I'm just grasping at straws. :P

It goes to show just how shit BB 2014 was when I am not even upset about this news. What is slightly upsetting is that it has just kind of faded away. It would have been nice to have seen a little summary of the Channel 9 series because it did have some great moments (mainly 2013).[DOUBLEPOST=1426466409][/DOUBLEPOST]I wonder what Alex M will keep himself busy with now.

What a shame :(

Last year's buildup was actually quite good, and the housemates seemed like they were going to be interesting.

So the ingredients were right, so was the recipe - the producers and Channel 9 were just shit cooks and made it pretty inedible (even so I still thought it was better than no BB).

I think Channel 9 just made the mistake of treating it like The Block and thinking of it as 'episodes' rather than a 24/7 experience.
Talk about wrecking a good thing.

Thank you for the update @Goon

This really should not be a surprise to most of us on here. Like others on this forum I'm not really upset, I much prefer BBUK, BBCAN and even BBUS. I just feel bad for anyone who has lost work over the cancelation of BB.... But I guess that is how TV works... Shows come and go.

shame, but, then again, it was probably for the best. you'd have to wonder what the next step would've been.

What a pity in a way. But in another way it is almost a relief because I have always felt that Channel Nine never really understood Big Brother.

Cmon mate, where's the positivity? "At least we get another season of the Block now!"?

.... actually nah you're right.
Nine will likely only air a single season of The Block next year, unless ratings for the second season later this year pickup dramatically. Ratings for this season are down over half a million compared to Fans vs Faves airing at the same of year last year, as well as compared to Glasshouse.

There is going to be a lot of schedule to fill at Nine... Wonder if they'll produce anything decent...

Nah. They won't.

Tv in this country is on life support. If it wasn't for live sports it would already be dead and buried.

I always contact my insiders, but normally don't release details unless I have heard from at least 2 of them.

I heard from a 2nd one who confirmed me it was not returning.
