Post BB Housemate Antics - Part 3

Not open for further replies.
When you see about a million photos of Jake with his mouth open like one of those clowns at the arcade it's hard not to make fun of him. But I don't do it out of a sense of hatred, because that would be stupid, but rather with a sense of detached amusement. I think I have commented positively on some housemates such as Cat and Lina. So it's not like I'm being negative all the time.

I'll throw in my two cents as well, because why not. Y'all know there are a few reasons why I've stopped posting here, but the reason I don't really miss it anymore, or enjoy checking in that often is that the negativity at this point, as others have said, is just fucking RELENTLESS. I mean, Jesus, people. I've done more than my share of ragging on HMs in this thread, some of which I feel bad about and some of which I don't, particularly, but it was never quite like this in the "good old days." It's pretty much non-stop meanness with very little light in between, and it sucks, and I know most of you are better than that. It's not even about the objects of the derision reading it or not reading it. It's just kind of a miserable way to be, isn't it, after awhile?

Anyway.
I miss you, littlebear :)

I guess people can write what they want.. There are no rules stating you can't slag off or share your dislike for a HM.

Well there are actually:-

http://www.behindbigbrother.com/forums/threads/no-housemate-hate-threads.52832/

But to address your point. I completely agree with you. But if a poster decides to attack a housemate with a level of abuse we have seen on this forum then they need to be prepared when a BBB member stands up and calls them out on that bad behaviour. Excuses like "I have seen much worse by other posters", or "well the family shouldn't log in here" or "I am sure HM's would be hurt by what they read in here but..." are simply unacceptable to me.

This is a very public forum, I think it is the biggest BB forum in the whole universe, and for a housemate not to know about it, they would need to be living under a fucking rock. We have had sisters of housemates as members, husbands, loved ones and actual participants of the show. In fact so many housemates have joined they get a special sash to identify them. So to use the "housemates don't use this site" excuse that I see some posters are using to excuse bad behaviour is as ignorant as it is untrue.

I loved your closing sentence because it is so true. Life is so much better when you focus on what you like, as opposed to what you don't like. The ongoing hate campaigns some of the extreme members in here commit themselves to must be absolutely exhausting.

And I'm not saying don't give housemates shit cos it is funny but maybe just hold back on so much negative . It's not good for the mind

I totally agree, I feel a bit of playful teasing is funny, questioning an outfit, and laying on a bit of shit is the Australian way. But when it gets to the stage posters in here are calling Skye, a 20 year old girl, a slut for deciding to get breast implants or liking the attention boys bring, that's too far.

It is actually refreshing to come in here and read some good discussion.

But all these words are giving me eye strain! Where's the pictures? Particularly of Ed in his speedos budgy smugglers?

Also does anyone have change for a 20? I don't carry coins.

When I saw the pic and read budgy smugglers I swear I thought of tony Abbott in that instant. I couldn't scroll fast enough to get rid of that image haha. Tony Abbott has ruined men in Speedos for me

Things I enjoy seeing in this thread:

The Sugar Sisters and their thriving business.

Tim Dormer and his love of animals: great and small.

Ben going to all these cool movie events.

Tully with her dog Luna.

Ed being happy with Monica.

Anytime Estelle, Cat or Lina post on social media.

Jake and his creativity.

Lisa's smile.

Rohan's acting career.

Xavier's funny remarks.

Lawson doing his magic shows.

David's sense of humour.

Priya's intelligence and spark.

Ryan doing the ride in India with Sam to raise money for the fight against MS.

Sam disability advocacy.

Sandra's writing.

Leo's dedication.

Travis and Aisha being happy together.

Gemma joining these forums. Her valuable insights have been very interesting to read.

Put it this way, we got to know them in the BB house which they signed up for and now most continue to share their lives on social media, they cant expect all comments to be good. plus the social media life is often manufactured. If we saw them how they really were we probably wouldn't care to talk about them/their photos

Bitching is a part of what makes the BB show tick. Housemates (who seek public attention and all its benefits) also bitch about each other, and do it on national TV. I’d think a thick-skin is a prerequisite. Two wrongs don't make a right, but the queue for halos is also looking pretty short, and yes, I do it too.

What’s acceptable? Personal opinion - we ALL have them. This forum is essentially about critiquing people who put themselves up for public scrutiny, positive and negative. I don’t believe they need protection, nor do I think it’s acceptable to call people certain names, regardless of age etc.

More arguably the extreme comments seem to be directed personally between, and at, members of this ‘community’. The way people choose to interact, react and exert their will it that is what they choose, is interesting (myself included). It’s often fine, until personal feelings and emotions get too involved for whatever reason. End of rant.

Thanks @ Veronica, and all the posters for contributing interesting and entertaining content. I see many good eggs here, no matter the cracks.

my two cents worth... (cos others have so I though why not?)

I have actually seen this thread and it's predecessors as a good way for me to learn a personality shown on a TV show can actually be so much more/ or different in real life.

For example I have learnt:
  • Ed (especially when he first left the house) is not as worried about he is perceived in the real world, and actually ahs a good sense of humor
  • We really missed out on a great housemate by not having Gemma in for longer
  • The sugar sisters really are that close and that sweet,
  • Tully risked a lot for love, and I hope she finds it with the right person. She has been able to maintain a friendship with her ex which is commendable
  • Jade, Tahan, Tully and Aisha are not just incredibly beautiful on the outside, but are smart and ambitious women.
  • Drew's chameleonic personality can effect how good looking he is in my eyes
  • Trav and Aisha were more than a showmance, and I think thats kinda cool.
  • Skye has shown me fake boobs can look good. I hope she doesn't look back one day and cringe about the tan and lipstick too much and realises it is a phase a lot of women go through, but she is gorgeous without all the extras.
  • Jake and Ed are surprisingly good photographers
  • Tim really was a most deserving winner (although I thought that during the show...)
  • That this thread is not the same without Camershy1 and I don't really know why!
Not all my realisations have been positive but we can't like everyone. And social media is still only showing a superficial amount about the people. But for all the negative (or perceived negative even if not intended to be) comments people may have made, I would hazard a guess there is just as many positive ones - thought by readers even if not written.

disagree on Tim & all the winners from channel 9

To be fair I only saw the BB1,2,3 and 5 from Channel 10, as I lived in NZ and they didn't televise them all, so in comparison to who I have seen win (Ben Williams, Peter Corbett, Reggie and the Logan twins) Tim and Reggie are definite standouts. ( Ie I just had to wiki the first two years winners)

One of the things I love about travelling is getting to train at different gyms around the world and meeting new and interesting people.

I was training at one of my favourite spots #Hammerhead gym in #Seminyak#Bali and met @alexanderfortuna28. He was so passionate about fitness and training that we connected right away.

He snapped this photo for me after a massive back session together. #training#bali#shredded#pump@lehvystylest

My Story
In July 2015, Paralympian Sam Bramham OAM and 2014 Big Brother winner, Ryan Ginns, will be commencing a motorcycle ride in India to raise money and awareness for Multiple Sclerosis research in Australia.

The boys will be riding over 14 days starting in New Delhi and finishing in Goa. They will be visiting two non profit organisations (Ms Society India and Salaam Balaak Trust – street kids) along the way.

“We want to expose the disease and create more awareness amongst a younger demographic. As India is a third world country, disability and disease is extremely prevalent. We will document and film our journey to gain and show perspective.” The boys said.

The boys both have personal reasons as to why they have created the ride. Ryan’s mother Judy was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis almost seven years ago. Ryan has spoken publicly about how the debilitative disease has taken a huge toll on his mother, family and friends. Sam has team mates on the Paralympic Team who suffer from Multiple Sclerosis and was saddened to see their deteriorated physical condition at every next competition.

“Our goal is to raise 50K to fund MS research. We are working closely with MS Australia to see the funds spent well. We want to take an active role in this by doing something active and educational – try and be good role models...for once.” The boys said.

What can you get as a donor?

$500+ you will get a signed copy of Sam's autobiography, Three Quarter Man.

$1000+ you will be placed in a competition to win Sam and Ryan's riding jackets framed and signed.

$5000+ Sam and Ryan will take you out on the town!

All donations are tax deductible. Please contact [email protected] for further info or if you would like to be involved further.

$50,000 my goal
