Episode Day 52 (29/10/14) Daily show

Depending how long Skye's been without sleep though I can relate to the overreacting...I practically lay down and cried the first time the phone rang just after I got the twins to sleep when I first came home from the hospital...also when I realised we were out of potatoes...sleep is important :p

+100 - my thoughts exactly - happens every time a real issue gets so much (deserved) focus - always ends up being applied to things that are so far removed from the original issue that it actually becomes offensive to anyone who has been the victim of REAL bullying. Bizarre. Same thing with the "racist" call these days.

Sorry i disagree, bullying is defined by whether the person in the firing line feels bullied or threatened. For too long ppl have gotten away with treating others like shit. Not everyone has a thick skin. Even if Priya didn't feel bullied, if a person watching feels like they would feel uncomfortable in that same situation, then for them its bullying. I guess it differs from person to person, but it can't be dismissed because someone else doesnt think so

Yeah, I have no issue with Priya standing up for herself. I genuinely don't think the boys meant any malice (David and Travis obviously thought they were close enough to Priya to be able to joke around and the newbies just wanted to fit in) but I can see why Priya would have felt uncomfortable. Saying that though she went way over the top. I don't think half of them even knew what was going on.
Priya even said if the newbies weren't there it wouldn't have been an issue. She's putting (rightly so) the newbies in their place but as usual David cops it

Was anyone else offended by David's playing the "culture" card with Priya. "it's the Australian way but you wouldn't understand because you are not Australian" (not his exact words). Firstly what nonsense, and secondly what a low "debating tactic". How insulting. Ignorance.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO I wasn't - because I've worked for many years with people of different cultures, with different languages and I know from experience that humour does NOT translate well - both via culture and by language and THAT was (I feel) David's point - not that he was taking an "I'm an Aussie and you're not" bullshit approach which people are trying to put on him ... which is absolute crapola!!!!

What are you, ignorant? Look it up, I ain't got time to educate you fools on definitions of words.

I personally would have felt intimidated if that happened to me like what happened to Priya. Not as a woman, but just as a person. Especially that some new people have jumped on the bandwagon. It makes you feel like the unpopular person there and like you are an outsider. Joke or not, when Priya explained herself, apologise and understand where she was coming from. I don't believe the boys meant to be idiots in this scenario and more of a case that it just went a little further than they realized. It's possible to sometimes go that little bit far and not realize, I've been in that position too. But once it has been realized, just apologise for it. Being ignorant of it will not resolve matters
