David Appreciation Thread

I just feel like he has become her last resort, do you know what I mean. If that were Sam, she so would have wanted a hug. He deserves to be first preference really, and I just don't think he is anyone's first preference in the house, so I will, do my best so he knows he was fans first priority lol

Yeeesss! So true. Well hopefully if David survives next week (and I'll be doing my best to make sure it happens!) Sandra will be gone so we don't have to worry about that fake friendship anymore. He's so loyal to her and while I think it's hurting him it also highlights a great part of his character. He genuinely seemed so worried for her tonight and it was incredibly sweet despite her being so undeserving of it.

I don't think he shouldn't have gone in the room. Just pointing out that walking off somewhere completely different would have been the only way he would have avoided criticism (and tbh I think it's ridiculous someone cops criticism for choosing a side to begin with).

Okay. Now I understand. You were referring to criticism. In that case, I agree. lol.

Can I just say...I love this thread. It's the first one I look at when I come on here. Loving all the Slayvid love :)

Agree, this thread is a good one. It's great that we can debate without it turning into a debacle, or it turning hateful. LOVE YOU GUYS!

Yeah!

The thread going to hit 100 pages soon :D

GO SLAYVID!

Because it's divisive. Because he hesitated. Because there are more than one exit to a room. And because they all left on really shitty terms. But it's all well and good to say this, from a viewers perspective. The reality is I probably would have gone and locked myself in the toilet for half an hour and wonder what my life had come to.

Awkward is OK. In fact, it can be an icebreaker.

Awkward in that house is not okay, thus David not having made any real bonds. In real life, I like a bit of awkwardness.

We just disagree about him going with Ry and Sandra. I don't think it's divisive, and don't care that he hesitated. Just as the others were free to sit there and basically tell Skye everything she does is right, he was free to go commiserate with Ryan and Sandra, especially because he agreed with them.

I agree with @Insomniac I think David takes heat for the smallest things. Sometimes, it's a bit silly.

Hey guys. Another interesting night in the BB house. I’m going to have to side with David on this one – and not just because he’s my brother.

Regardless of what we all see and think of Sandra, David has a bond with her and it’s the closet thing he has to a friend in there – even if it’s all in his head. He saw she was upset about noms and then Skye’s comment about her (Sandra) being a sad sack set her off again. David would have wanted to follow Sandra and Ryan into the room because that’s who he wanted to support in that situation. He wasn’t going to stick around and support Skye when her initial reason for walking into the stairwell area was because she was peev’d at him for his ‘Strategy Skye’ comment. (I’m not sure he knew that though).

I’m having a bit of a love hate relationship with Skye at the moment. I think she has some really genuine qualities and there is a real innocence to her but she finds herself in topical conversations that she can’t handle but often starts and as a result everyone else is missing out on having healthy and relevant discussion. And like a few of you said (Gemini and tanique I think) there’s no successful way out of a convoluted conversation with someone who isn’t making any sense.

Personally, I think it’s getting old and I think David would be thinking the same. He’s been a big supporter and defender of Skye but he knows a game player when he sees one and he’s called Skye on it.

David’s letter was typical David. We’re not an overly affectionate family so spilling his heart onto paper could only ever be achieved if he included a little bit of dry humour and a jibe at Dad (so glad it wasn’t a jibe at my weight!)

He would be dying to know what’s going on in the outside world as well – especially how his precious Spurs are faring in the soccer.

Gotta sign out now so I can spend another 15 minutes sending ‘David’ text messages before bedtime!

Why? He said like 2 things and one was saying they should be civil.
Why is he being judged badly? He was only involved on the periphery. He was 100% right about her being strategic and not being dumb and called her on it at the table.
It's like wow, one comment and that's it?
Cut some slack maybe?

Unfortunately it's the old, if anyone else had of said it, it would have slid but because it's David and the HMs know there is a collective groan sounding somewhere every time he speaks they can hang him out for it.

Honestly, I was talking mostly about things I saw in today's show thread. No worries, I wasn't referring to you. But, I have read that he should be on Skye's not the one's "attacking" her. and that is what I was reacting to. He owes her nothing. Trust, I feel the same way about Sandra, but he has no idea she voted for him. He is grabbing onto the one person he started the game with. I don't like it, but I understand that.

Completely agree about Jase. I thought his letter was touching, and I appreciate that it was short and to the point.
I've said he shouldn't be going after her and especially not hanging out with Ryan and Sandra and I still believe that. But it's not because I think he should have some sort of loyalty to Skye. It's because he's in a shitty spot this week with a double eviction against two other people with similar fanbases so you don't want to give people a reason not to vote for you or vote more for someone else. He's already the second favourite to go home behind Sandra with the bookies... as a fan I'm wanting him to do things that potentially help increase his support with floating voters and those who don't have a favourite up this week, not stagnate or weaken his support.

Unfortuately that didn't happen tonight but there's always Monday's show to change that.

Sorry but David was just jumping on the belittle and be mean to Skye train.

He even said he said things to rile her up. That sort of behavior isn't socially acceptable. I understand he is mistakenly trying to jump onto the self proclaimed 'cool group' of arsehole Ryan. However he came off pathetic.

He lacked the mean arsehole skill of talking down, twisting and being condescending. So it was just pathetic. He stood there watching a young lady with ADHD being berated by a bully and sided with the bully. Then tried to have his own dig and failed.

As if David didn't know Skye's original comment that sparked Ryan being a prick wasn't valid. As if he didn't know that the, 'well just don't talk to me then' wasn't a serious comment and that thought Skye was never going to talk to Ryan. Yet he had to talk to Skye as if she was a petulant child having a tantrum and really was going to exclude and ignore Ryan. Or as if she was already doing this,.

The Sandy thing, she jumped into the ganging up against Skye first. Her comments were some what ok, except the fact it ignored the fact Ryan unjustifiably and deliberately jumped down at Skye. Skye's comments about Sandra was to do with a larger point of how she's talked down to, treated differently. It's in the context of being berated and talked down to. Where Sandra and Dave were jumping onto the bully bandwagon.

So yeah, lost pretty much and respect I gained for David tonight.

I get what you're saying, and I've wondered why people do things that could make people not vote for them. However, where Skye is concerned, I think people are just reaching their limits. As a viewer, I know I have. I can't even imagine living with her. So, if the reason Ryan goes is because he told Skye, to her face, how he feels, I'm okay with that. Same with David. I don't want him to go, but I don't want him to stay invisible for fear of not getting votes, or for not getting nominated.
Before today, David was hardly seen at all. So, I don't think getting no airtime would translate to votes. At least he spoke his mind today, and was featured a bit. He might get a lot of votes from people who can't stand Skye. So, I'm okay with his choices today. I was interested in David today, more than I've been in days, because he took a stand.

He was only pointing out what a sneaky game player that Skye is and that the nickname 'strategy Skye' is a suitable nickname for her.

Are you serious? For starters Skye was NOT being bullied. She was acting RIDICULOUS and everyone knew it. Just because Cat and Jason were standing next to her that didn't mean they agreed with her. They were calming trying to tell her that Ryan wasn't wasn't attacking her but she wouldn't have a bar of it. When she realised Cat and co weren't agreeing with her she made up a BLATANT lie about Ryan and Sandra laughing as they walked into the bedroom, and then got the shits when Cat pointed out that they hadn't. She was putting on an act and trying to garner sympathy but got angry when it didn't work.

I have no idea how you got the idea that Ryan was the one chucking a petulant tantrum when Skye was the one that told him to either "fuck off" or "shut up" (can't remember exactly but it was something abrupt and petulant along those lines) the moment he asked her a serious question (what she didn't understand about David saying they needed to be civil).

She then proceeded to pull her "I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHAT'S HAPPENING!" crap despite the fact that the other HMs had just seen her calculated and completely well thought out nominations. They know she's been dumbing herself down for a strategy now (like David said, she's not an idiot at all) and he called her on it. I'm sorry if you believe that poor little innocent Skye couldn't handle the truth but if you want to play the game then you have to be prepared for the consequences. Imagine if David had have thrown Skye under the bus last night like she did to him? Or the way she threw Priya under the bus tonight? He wouldn't get away with it...and yet Skye does but people are finally starting to wake up to it. Good for them. I like Skye usually but she should just own it like the others do instead of putting on an act.

no, he has been annoyed about being accused of being a 'strategist' for weeks now. so he saw an opportunity to pass the title on to somebody else and ingratiate himself to the schoolyard toughs. you idiot dave. who you reckon is going to get schooled hey[DOUBLEPOST=1413462778][/DOUBLEPOST]

I was disappointed with David too as he showed his true colours in tonight's ep, maybe there was some truth to what Lisa said about him after all.

The guy is so desperate to get accepted into the cool kids group he's willing without a second to throw under the bus the 1 PERSON who showed him any compassion by approaching and talking to him in a day when nobody else wanted a bar of him.

Speaks volume of his character that after all the shit Sandra has put him through he's still seeking her approval and friendship. Wake up and smell the coffee David, she ain't that into you.
