David Appreciation Thread

I think David's desire to fit with the group is the root of the issues he finds himself in. It's been that way from the start when the saggy boobs thing happened because he was trying to fit in with the boys. He just doesn't have a place in there and we've seen him repeatably say things he shouldn't in an attempt to connect with another HM. He's clearly still very loyal to Sandra and seemed to think that Sam was also his friend by extension despite us knowing they both threw him under the bus.

I think he'll cop a lot of flack tonight for siding with Sandra and Ryan but I can't really knock what any of them said to Skye. They were right however it's also not a smart move because Skye is one of those people that are impossible to argue with. She'll bait and bait but no matter what you say you'll always come out looking like the jerk that's being mean to the poor little girl.

Awww, man. David, what have you done? **facepalm**

The only real consolation is that Sandra and Ryan look the bigger tools, but only just. I willed him to stay in the room with Skye, Priya, Cat etc but it didn't work. Don't go, don't go, don't go, oh, you left. Sandra is like a toxin infecting everything with negativity, and David still seems to have some (misguided) loyalty to her. Overall, a pretty shit episode in terms of generating save votes. There were hints tonight of the aspects of David's personality that obviously grates on some people, and the snark, which I appreciate, but fully understand why others wouldn't. But he's only human, and even this deep into the game he's still trying to find where he belongs, and gain others acceptance (not of the faux kind).

The letter segment was lovely, I bet it put a smile of the faces of @BigSisterEm and @MelKen to hear those words. :shy:

Um, SKYE is the reason he is up for eviction. All this talk about what he shouldn't have done to Skye has no merit. While he doesn't know who voted for him, we do. So, I'm not sure why he owes her blind loyalty and she put his ass up. Give me a break.
Yes, he's always looking for a place, and that is usually when he does something to turn me off. But, she has shown no loyalty to him, so I don't think he owes her a thing. Beyond that, I absolutely agreed with Ryan. He had a calm, adult chat with her, if she can't handle the pressures of being older than 12, that is on Skye. It's not everyone's responsibility to placate her, and treat her like a child. It's exactly that behavior that has made her who she is. I hope David, Leo, Ryan and whoever else has an issue with her continues to let her know it. I'm over the babying of this grown ass woman.

Ps, I liked David's letter. It felt sincere.

Totally, 100% agree.

Also,

The stuff David said might not have been smart for his game with the hundreds of people that buy into Skye's thing, but he was absolutely right. She sat in that diary room articulating her nominations absolutely perfectly, then Ryan tries to have a conversation with her and it's suddenly *cry cry cry* "I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU'RE SAYING!" *cry cry cry*

At one stage there was this exchange:

David: We have to try and act civil together
Skye: I DON'T UNDERSTAND
Ryan: What don't you understand?
Skye: FUCK OFF RYAN!

WTF, seriously?! Then when Cat tried to explain to her that Ryan wasn't trying to attack her she started getting shitty and said that they were laughing as they walked off...which again NEVER HAPPENED!

She is absolutely playing the game so I have no issue with David calling her on it.

Why would he have taken Skyes side, because she talked to him once? Please, she's the reason he's up and her behavior on the stairs.. I thought she was off.

I didn't agree with how Sandra and Ryan were going on in the bedroom but I didn't like how Skye was going on either. Drama. David can sniff the fake bs and wants to see the real her.

People have a go when he's by himself but then think he shouldn't talk to others. I can imagine him and Skye have zero in common. So she's popular with people who like that schtick, doesn't mean Dave should be fake. His mouth? What about Skye's?

If David had have put Skye up for nomination to get someone else off people would be savaging him on SM. Her doing it to him is totally fine though, because reasons.

as his sisters say don't be complacent. Ryan has support from a lot of rich connected people.

His letter was the only one without the sappy words. Not that there is anything wrong with using sappy words to a loved one, but I mean it was normal , in normal words you would use everyday to a loved one. Plus he is the only one who asked about his family and talked about THEM. proves he is a good guy and why I will never think otherwise.

The Sandra thing I can let go of, only because he is loyal and to him, he thinks She has been loyal to him. It's a good quality even if it is wasted on her because it shows his character.

I don't want David to side with Skye, but I also don't think he should follow Sandra out like a sheep. Forming yourself into a group creates division. Hanging around in that situation may give you the opportunity to infiltrate and gain information. It might have been an opportunity to say sorry about the Strategy Skye thing, although you don't have to mean it. Why should he, it was a legit observation? The girl voted "for strategy" and has been outed for it for $5000.

Skye thinks she's got this game in the bag. She mentioned winning big brother, how popular she is. One can only hope that cockiness will come back and bite her on the ass.

You are preaching to the choir, with her act. She turns it on and off when it suits her. She needs Aisha near her, because she will ALWAYS take her side. You notice these outbursts are always when there is an audience present? Priya pissed me off too, in that moment. Skye can speak when it serves her purposes, and she is just so transparent.

But, I've just reached my limit with the thinking that people shouldn't come for Skye, because she is popular. People have to go anyway, so if they are honest and still go, I'm fine with that. You can't bite your tongue, forever, because someone could be more popular. They've all done it for way too long, and she's gotten away with things, for way too long. As her head continues to get bigger, I expect a few more confrontations.

I kinda had a different interpretation on that. If you watch he did hesitate a fair bit before following Sandra and Ryan into the bedroom. I don't think he really knew what to do. Like @Insomniac said though he couldn't just stay standing there in front of Skye, Cat and Jason staring at him while Skye was already shitty with him. Awkward. If I were him I would have just gone elsewhere completely but I understand people don't always make the best decisions under pressure.

Who is saying that David owes her blind loyalty? People are making comments about it I suppose, but I did not read that as him owing her loyalty. I made comments myself, but that doesn't mean I think he owes her loyalty. I think the him hanging with ryan and Sandra is what most are commenting about. Just wanted to explain myself if that was what you were referring too, but if not, so sorry :shy:

I liked David's letter too, it was the most real to me. But I did cry at Jason's too.
