Ben (2013) is back...Tuesday

If he's just going on stage with Sonia to promote his new project with Tim, I'll be fine with it.

If he's going into the house... NO FUCKING WAY. It's not that I dislike Ben, on the contrary I think he comes across as quite lovely and sweet, but I found him absolutely irritating last year, and most of it wasn't his fault. The way they forced him upon as at every opportunity was infuriating. We were told we had to love him. If we didn't LOVE Ben or think he deserved to win, then we were just such awful people. We were constantly bombarded with events and tasks designed specifically to give him airtime. It's like they had chosen their winner, and demoted the rest of the housemates to his supporting cast. He was given the assistant to Big Brother task that first week, he was given the bulk of airtime - they dedicated an ENTIRE episode to him meeting his idols BERT AND PATTI. Even when he was evicted, they let him back in the house for a task, because his eviction was just such a national tragedy. I wish we had been given the opportunity to get to know Ben in a more organic way, because I think he would have been a much more interesting housemate that way, and I would have probably enjoyed watching him in the house a lot more than I did. They over-hyped him and overexposed him and it got to the point where a lot of people started to resent him for it - that sort of favouritism was not fair to the other housemates and it's not fair to Ben himself.

Letting in Tim was a stretch, but I let it pass because he did so much for the show last year. Ben is more the sort of housemate you think "aww, he's just so lovely", but that's about it. Having him enter the house seems pointless and detrimental, especially when this series is finally starting to hit its stride.

Tim went into the house was because he was the Ultimate Big Brother Housemate. He was a genius and he is and always will be Big Brother.

THIS :) I honestly think the reason I hate Big Brother this year, is the fact that, for me, Tim is the ultimate House Mate for me. Cheeky, funny, thinking, planning/plotting... he had it all. I just can't help but compare this lot of idiots (except Dave, Priya & Leo) to last year. BB 2013 was the greatest in a long time, and it will also be a long time, before anyone can top it. (Season 5 with Dean, Vesna, Tim Brunero & Logan Twins is my next best fave)

As an aside, I think if Tim could actually make some sort of time and come here and post again to promote the Tim/Ben Project, some of us would get on board. I would donate again (yes I did), if I thought Tim or Ben would respond to me or something. I'm not some sort of crazy bitch or anything, but some sort of acknowledgment would be awesome. I got zero response for my efforts. I am kinda sad about that actually.

Ok. So who do they want to help? Tim helped David.
Or is it an ambi pur advertiser stunt? I'm sure this is a channel thing. Maybe they were happy at the attention that bringing Tim in brought the show?
Maybe it's a mental health month event?

Just had a thought, will ben get to pick the next HOH? That would be a smart way for production to control who gets HOH, without any influence from a public vote that can be manipulated.

I liked Ben so I'm glad to see him. I don't think it will be a disaster.

There are rewards if the project gets funded. If it doesn't get funded you get your money back. At least that's the way every crowd sourced funding I know of works.

Agreed. The favouritism was 85% the reason I detested him. And you're right, it wasn't fair on him, or the housemates, not to mention it was unfair on us being force fed Ben all the fucking time. It's like we weren't allowed to think for ourselves. It left a bad taste in my mouth.

He better not be going in to the house. You got to be kidding that another guest will be entering the house? :jawdrop:

Didn't they see it didn't really go well with Tim?

The house drama is going fine at the moment. It's interesting. Outside guests are NOT needed. I know the producers don't care about the original concept of the show but having revolving guests is RIDICULOUS.

I really do hope Ben is just promoting the Graceland project and a catch up with Sonia.

P.S. I am a Ben from Brisbane fan so it's not him I have a problem with.

@Mercy I agree. If they put him on stage I'll still be seething as that's precious house time we're missing out on in a season where we don't even have LFs now. But ok. Whatever... pander to those who still like him. They had to tolerate Tim, so while I'll still be popping off, hopefully they get some publicity for their Graceland trip so that's ok.

BUT... if they put this guy IN the house... I posted what I thought would happen when some were suggesting he go in instead of Tim a few weeks ago. It was all full of giggles, can't believe you love me, oh gosh Big Brother you're so naughty, wow you HMs know who I am? oh wow are you pashing in the spa? giggle giggle giggle I lied about not being on social media and am playing you all for fools with my schtick fucking giggle

PISS OFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF

I'm not sure what's happening with FB this season but it warms my heart that the 2nd most liked comment under this promo pic, after one suggesting they do an All Stars, is "Just no, please no."

Forgot to add - I was just saying in the Leo thread how Alex said in that interview today there are 3-4 storylines but they're struggling to show them all or make a cohesive one as there's actually too much happening in the house. The last thing we need is a stunt to pull away from what precious little airtime we get. If Ch 9 was bringing him on to promote the Graceland thing, they would've just funded it themselves. They get no benefit from that. It's a web series that's to air online.

My guess is that he's going in the house or will be involved with the HMs in some way at the very least.

You can't think of a reason they want him in? I'm sure there is a purpose, maybe to chose HOH? Maybe just publicity?

They have been using Tully too. Anyone else's from last year tweets appear on the show?

Yaaaas. If anything I'm pissed off because I've let myself become so engrossed in the current house drama, all for 2013 to unnecessarily rear its head once more.

As an aside to my earlier post, who has seen this?

Freaking funny, they are soooooooooooooooooooooooooo opposite. I love it.

The ACCURACY.

That is exactly what will happen if he goes back in.

Let's try and be positive... maybe if he goes in, the housemates will know that the ratings are DIRE, and they'll all start caring less about their reputations and start engaging in more reckless behaviour?

I can think of several reasons they want him in but in a year where we don't get live feeds, the guy was tossed out before even midway, Alex said it wouldn't be a revolving door of guests... it's like why do it now when things are finally gelling?! Ratings are increasing and social media chatter is heating up as we get to know these HMs more. Last season they fake evicted the guy and then even brought him back for the Santa task. Like when is enough enough with one person?!

On another note, I don't actually think they're using Tully. All of the other reality shows do the same thing. When a past contestant or even a minor celebrity tweets about the show, it's sure to be aired if it pertains to the situation. Sing a Dami Im song and she tweets about it, it's shown. Tully cheated, they air her tweet about Cat and Lawson. It makes sense.

Yes, the question of why do it know makes me think it's a channel move for attention (is the show on a weird time on Tuesday?) or a production design move for influencing some person in the house or who has HOH.

About Tully, the word "use" was a bad choice. I meant in the sense of last year's housemates who have been involved, not that they were taking advantage. They still chose what gets aired, I'm not sure they would air Sharon's tweets from last year. It does make sense to use previous contestant tweets.

Not to mention he was at several evictions if I recall, giving some sort of unnecessary commentary. The intensity of the show's push to have him be this "character" that I don't think he could necessarily handle is quite scary looking back.

Oh, this "stunt" absolutely reeks of Channel 9. I won't be blaming Alex one bit.

Can we just boycott the episode, so ch9 get a tangible hint that we don't want guests or past housemates? If all they care about is ratings, why not ensure their plans backfire?
