Tim's Take on Big Brother 2014: Part One
As we all know, last year’s winner Tim is never short of an opinion on… well, anything really! We dared to venture inside his head once more to find out Tim’s take on all things Big Brother 2014: the conspiracies, the twists, and his early predictions about this year's 'new breed of Housemate'...
What’s the most ridiculous conspiracy theory you’ve heard about this year’s season?
That I will be returning as a Housemate again. Don't get me wrong, I would love to go for round two and another $250k would definitely be nice, but come on Australia, surely you wouldn't fall for my charms again! I think Big Brother might need to hire some extra security to guard the walls this year... to keep me out!
What do you make of Big Brother’s ‘a storm is coming’ weather warning?
Well you've heard of the Aussie colloquial name the ‘thunder-box’ right? This year I reckon
Big Brother is going to only feed Housemates a diet of bad Mexican food and laxatives, creating a storm of a different kind… JOKES.
With the new addition of the ‘ultimate power’ that one Housemate will possess, surely fireworks will entail! Who will have the power? What control will the power allow this Housemate to have over the others? How do you get the power? Personally, I’ve always been against any additional powers being given to Housemates; I think if you are a strong enough player, then you shouldn't need any help from Big Brother… But then again, not everyone who goes into the Big Brother House is a strong player! I'm hoping for conflict between big and diverse personalities early on; hopefully he will put the Housemates under a stressful pressure-cooker situation where they explode. Perhaps instead of entering the Big Brother House they are locked in a torture dungeon, forced to get to know each other...
What are your predictions about this year’s Housemate mix?
Big Brother told me after I was crowned the winner last year that I had changed the way he would have to select Housemates this year. I was proud to hear Australia had seen one of the biggest players the Big Brother House had ever accommodated! An adorable backstory, big boobs or chiselled abs weren't enough to get Housemates the crown last year. The old saying of a Housemate ‘playing the game’ was no longer such a dirty word, as long as they were genuine and provided Australia with entertainment!
In the new TV promo,
Big Brother promises 'a new breed of Housemate'. I'm predicting we will see a lot more super-competitive players who will stop at nothing to fight their way to the finish line. The analogy in the promo of Housemates ‘arriving two by two’ I think hints at Housemates being as diverse as the animal kingdom; arriving from different walks of life, employment, beliefs, ages... all crammed into the same House to fight out their differences, or in some cases maybe opposites will attract! Whoever they are, I'm predicting fireworks.
We know you’re a long time Big Brother fan – how will you be enjoying this year’s season from the outside?
I can proudly say I've watched every season of
Big Brother to date. Well, except for mine... I can't bring myself to yet! I'm looking forward to watching the show as a fan again this year and offering my outspoken, honest and often ridiculous opinions alone in my own living room! I'm going to be getting behind the most entertaining Housemates that I think connect and engage with Australia! I'm a harsh critic; even if my best mate was going into the Big Brother House, he wouldn't get my vote unless he was the most interesting Housemate in there!
Do you expect to feel any Big Brother FOMO?
Great question! Of course there will be new and exciting things planned for this season that I would have loved to have had in ours, but then again I made sure I lived my life to the fullest while in the Big Brother House last year so I would have no regrets when I left! I definitely got my money’s worth out of my
Big Brother experience, so I’m not worried about missing out on anything else…although I will be cranky if they get a treehouse or have a dolphin in the pool!
Stay tuned for Tim’s Take: Part Two!
