Jesus Christ! Please stop strawmanning me, it's pathetic and transparent. I contend that people who use the words in some ancient text as an excuse to do bad things are wrong. Can't see how I could have made it clearer.

For example say you're Catholic and you support contraception, a woman's right to choose, equal rights for LGBT people and euthanasia then I don't have a problem with your views. I might wonder about why you're calling yourself Catholic, but that's another topic.

And I'm glad you're not a an idiot who blindly supports people who use religion/cultural practice as an excuse to be shitty people. So there you go. No argument here.

Again, let me be clear as crystal. People can think/believe what they want. As long as they don't try to harm or impinge on other people's rights because of some religious interpretation then there is no issue.

If they DO try and harm/impinge on others because of their religious interpretation I WILL say that they are wrong and call them out on it. Please see what I am saying and don't allow whatever it is that is clouding your understanding of my words to lead you astray.

Weren't you the one that once chided me for expressing anti-muslim sentiments?! lol It's quite funny to me seeing you on the recieving end of that type of accusation. :p

All I have to say in all this is that comparing modern day Muslims to other religions (say Buddhism) is a bit like equating violence against women (by men) to violence against men (by women).

Whilst violent acts have been committed by people belonging to various religions over the centuries when it comes to current times far too many Muslims around the world are still strapped in an uncivilized medieval mindset that perpetuates violence far too often and frequently against non-muslims and fellow muslims alike.

And to argue with a straight face in a misguided attempt to come to their defense that nowadays members of other religions such Buddhists, Hindus etc... are prone to the same savage barbaric tendencies is disingenuous and quite frankly insulting to members of these other religions.

Strawmanning?

Really?

I guess when you said:-

Unfortunately some people, like Tim, never find their way out from the brainwashing. All you can really do is try and be understanding and hope that they can see the light. Because of my studies of various religions I have a few solid arguments I can use to maybe try and knock some sense into those poor lost folk.

it sort of gave the impression that you know all, you know given your extensive studies of "various" religions and proclaiming to have the ability "to maybe try and knock some sense into those poor lost folk" who dare to have a different belief or opinion to yours. No strawmanning, just reading a quote t-t-t-t-t-t-tapped out on your keyboard by your fingers.

For example say you're Catholic and you support contraception, a woman's right to choose, equal rights for LGBT people and euthanasia then I don't have a problem with your views. I might wonder about why you're calling yourself Catholic, but that's another topic.

Why would you wonder? Given that it is none of your fucking business, I would suggest your hours would have been better spent googling what Tully and Drew are up to, rather than wasting your time judging a persons spiritual belief and actions, given that it has no impact or bearing on your day.

Really?

Because earlier when you were preaching the non bible, like some deranged street corner spruiker with a head knock you said:-

I encourage all good thinking people to do the same and try and help free your fellow man from the oppression and tyranny of religion.

Crystal clear? You are about as clear as mud.

If they DO try and harm/impinge on others because of their religious interpretation I WILL say that they are wrong and call them out on it. Please see what I am saying and don't allow whatever it is that is clouding your understanding of my words to lead you astray.

The only thing clouding my understanding is trying to work through your blatant stream contradictions to try and work out what you actually believe. Judging from that load of shit, I don't think you even know.

Your post has demonstrated the only thing clouding your understanding, is your ignorance. You have proved you can lead the ignorant to information, but you can't make them think.

I don't know what you two are arguing about.

Sorry to harp on this, but I couldn't edit my previous post and I wanted to make it doubly clear what I am talking about so that you don't blow a fuse haha

This is text in the Bible

This is text in the Koran

There are people who use this and other words in religious text to cause harm to their fellow man. I don't think those words are a good reason to kill or maim people. I reckon that there are many people who agree with me.

Grasping at straws now aren't we?

Yeah google tells me after some frantic googling that the bible also says

But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked.

and the Koran says

Verse (25:70) - English Translation
: Except him who repents and believes and does a good deed; so these are they of whom Allah changes the evil deeds to good ones; and Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.

To use some of your own words... There are people who use this and other words in religious text to display love and compassion to their fellow man. I don't think those words are a good reason to kill or maim people. I reckon that there are many people who agree with me.

I'm an atheist too, I am not saying that the books are for me or I believe them. I am saying people have the right to believe and to choose. It is up to the individual how they interpret the books. You can read it and choose love or you can read it and choose hate, it is all in your interpretation.

I don't know what you two are arguing about.

I saw her on Mornings the other day.

As a rule I find I can get past the teeth whitening/capping in both friends and celebrities pretty quickly, for example Pete the chef from My Kitchen Rules took a couple of weeks longer than average, but I got past them and accept they are his new teeth. but her teeth are as confronting as the day she first unleashed them. They are awful.

However, her filler and botox is perfect.

Her mouth is like looking directly into the Sun.

She looks pale and translucent without makeup, and kind of like a guppy. She is an attractive woman, I GUESS.

Unlike myself, Madonna, whose plastic surgery is nigh on UNNOTICEABLE and I'm just coasting through my 50's looking like a fetus.

...

No I'm pretty sure I only said I didn't want to get in on any religion bating, but it looks like it's too late for that now- hahahah

Really?

Because earlier when you were preaching the non bible, like some deranged street corner spruiker with a head knock you said:-

Look at the brain on Brad! You got it in one. I was acting like a typical obnoxious religious preacher. Most religious people aren't like that, but I like to use that sly humour to shed light on things. It's ok if you don't get it :)

Why would you wonder? Given that it is none of your fucking business, ... wasting your time judging a persons spiritual belief and actions, given that it has no impact or bearing on your day.

It IS my fucking business if someone wants to take actions to stop a woman's right to choose or LGBT rights or whatever. How dare you say we should not care about those things. Seriously, you fucked up with that statement.

Those beliefs which lead to actions affect my life and others. I'll fight it everytime.

Beside's my gaffe with the attempt at humour everything I've said is 100% consistent, logical and rational.

Grasping at straws now aren't we?

HAHAHA. No I'm presenting a solid, logical argument.

I'm an atheist too, I am not saying that the books are for me or I believe them. I am saying people have the right to believe and to choose. It is up to the individual how they interpret the books. You can read it and choose love or you can read it and choose hate, it is all in your interpretation.

By the way, I'm not an atheist so please stop with putting words in my mouth. But yes I agree that people can interpret words in all sorts of ways. I have a problem when people use words in a religious text to harm others.

You know what the worst part of all this is? Why are two non believers having an argument about this?
That's some delicious irony right there HAHAHA

This woman at any age will be hot!

You are not fooling anyone for a second.

It IS my fucking business if someone wants to take actions to stop a woman's right to choose or LGBT rights or whatever. How dare you say we should not care about those things. Seriously, you fucked up with that statement.

Those beliefs which lead to actions affect my life and others. I'll fight it everytime.

But that is not what we were discussing was it? To keep it in context, you were dribbling about a Catholic contraception supporting, euthanasia loving, equal rights lobbying woman and the choices she has made, not an extremist with a bomb strapped to their belly you were talking about a Catholic woman. Why would you want to fight a woman's right to have the freedom to believe and interpret her religion how she feels, given it has no affect on you? I seriously don't get it.

Beside's my gaffe with the attempt at humour everything I've said is 100% consistent, logical and rational.

No one is buying your "gaffe" for a second.

HAHAHA. No I'm presenting a solid, logical argument.

While I would call your argument a lot of things, solid and logical aren't two of them...

By the way, I'm not an atheist so please stop with putting words in my mouth. But yes I agree that people can interpret words in all sorts of ways. I have a problem when people use words in a religious text to harm others.

I wasn't putting words in your mouth. You put them in your mouth. If you need confirmation on your own stance, it is in the first line of your very next sentence.

You know what the worst part of all this is? Why are two non believers having an argument about this?
That's some delicious irony right there HAHAHA

Oh and for your own information, so it doesn't get awkward for next time:-

atheist
ˈeɪθɪɪst/
noun
  1. a person who disbelieves or lacks belief in the existence of God or gods.
You need to stop now. The more you post the more ignorant you look.
