Housemate Hunt 2014

Hi, I've been reading these threads and love them however I too have had a friend recently audition and would like to clear the air that with people Alex was more interested in he must have spent more time talking to them. My friend had many more questions asked of him than those who have posted on here and spoke with Alex and the other produce for 10-15minutes not 3, which would explain maybe she was more their 'type' of person?

when you see the housemates this year lets see who truly represents 'real Australia' among them....

...good point bbobsever... the trouble is... editing may not give us the opportunity too... more the pity in my books... cheers.

Mr Stickyfingers,
I guess the reason I chose to audition was because I was at a bit of a loose-end. I was getting to the end of one stage in my life and ready to do something different. I thought Big Brother would be the perfect opportunity to do something like that. I'd say if you're interested - do it!

BBObsever,
The Australian process is very superficial. I don't want to offend anyone, but in my experience with BBAU most of the people that seemed to get through weren't people of substance. I thought the cast last year did have some housemates that were able to carry themselves well, but I think the general BBAU casting techniques mean a lot of in-genuine, lower tier of society, individuals slip through the cracks and attain a lot of the spots in the later stages of casting, as well as on the actual show. That isn't to say that it's a bad thing, it does represent one aspect of Australian society, but it doesn't represent a broad category of people, and honestly, it can alienate significant clusters of viewers.
Alex does give you the opportunity to have a lengthy discussion with him in Round 3. You do have to be assertive, and you do have to allow for him to reciprocate discussion based on your responses. If you were only in for three minutes, chances are you weren't making sense, or what you were saying lacked intrigue - therefore, he wouldn't pry deeper. However, in the non-BBAU process, questions are posed so that you can tell stories about yourself and your experiences, your attitudes towards things are probed, and everything (from semi-finals on) is recorded by casting producers and sent to the producers who select the final 50. They really tried to encompass a 360, transparent discussion about myself, which I absolutely loved. I believe that I am a genuine person, and the way that non-BBAU operated their casting process meant that the in-genuine were weeded out. That being said, the season that I missed out on was very, very successful - and was highly commended internationally for their casting/execution of BB. Therefore, the reviews and ratings spoke significantly of the shows execution.

...hmmmm... a little food for thought there for me... I'll see if I pluck up the courage enough to audition for next year... maybe they'll be on the look for old fogies next year eh?... lol!... thanks for answering... much appreciated...

...it would be great for someone within these forums to actually get through the auditions and to go into the house itself and then relate their experiences throughout a thread here eh?... we can only hope that one of you actually make it one day I guess... cheers.

I dunno if this would be possible anyway? I know shows like Survivor often have strict confidentiality contracts

i'm confident someone from this site will get through, there are a lot of great characters in here, but did they audition?

Did your 'friend' progress to the next phase?

I got asked a lot more than just those questions I mentioned and spent a decent amount of time talking about me and my life that isn't really suitable for sharing here. I mentioned those questions specifically because of previous discussions. I spoke with AM for about 10 minutes or more. Just because I didn't expose word for word our conversation doesn't mean it was a two minute conversation. Your comment is kinda insulting TBH.

I wasn't trying to be insulting but to be honest that statement is kind of irrelevant because what I said is true if in the end they didn't want you and they wanted her instead.

So she got through to the next round? Good for her. I don't think you need to try to be insulting. I am pretty sure it just comes naturally to you :-)

Well, I did watch the moon landing on TV.

And I fear I'm becoming one of these:

...hahaha!...I watched that whole clip... what a hoot!... they're saying things that I can relate to at times lol!... funny as... and oh yeah!... I stayed home from schhool on the day of the moon landing... there was no way that I was going to miss watching the Moon Landing live... amazing times my friend... amazing times indeed... cheers.

Don't like someone who can tell it how it is hey?[DOUBLEPOST=1400244945][/DOUBLEPOST]

Since you referred to your friend as 'him' and 'she' in the same sentence, I have low confidence you are telling it how it is. I have no horse in this race, did not apply for BB, and do not feel inferior to your fascinating 'friend' who was apparently so much more BB's 'type' than other posters who were kindly detailing their experiences with the audition process, not because they hoped you would register with the apparent aim of putting them down, but because this is a board for people who are interested in this show.
