Housemate Hunt 2014

I guess the 7pm on that date was the absolute latest people would be notified if they were successful so people could be notified prior to that point. It really does seem like he is doing it for attention, and I feel like Alex et al would be onto people like this. He seems like a bit of a d-bag so I really hope he isn't what the producers are looking for!

Oh, and I believe what I said was that my friend got through the third round ;)

Yes *fingers crossed* that he gets what he deserves....

Oh right... ;) Well I hope your friend made it through to the next stage! I just wish the whole process would go a bit faster...it feels like it is taking forever.

Aww well... no email for me.

I tried out for the first time ever and ended up in Round 3 and chatted to Alex. This was where I got really nervous.

I was surprised to get past round 1 and of course, would have loved to go further, but c'est la vie.

Yeah it is a pretty lengthy process. I think from here on in it starts happening much quicker though, I think they get pretty ruthless from here on in.

That's too bad! Seriously though, well done on getting that far! Next year??

Hi all first time reading these forums but thought id give my experience for the curious people out there!

I auditioned for the first time this year in Melbourne and I was expecting way more people there just from what they say when you fill out the registration form. I showed up early afternoon and walked straight in but then had to wait for about an hour or so to go into the first audition I also made a friend on the day who was there quite a bit before me so the person I met went into the 1st audition before me. First audition is exactly what people above have commented on facts about yourself, 0%-100% how strongly you agree or disagree on a topic, continue the story group splits into two and come up with a performance. About half or a bit under of the group then went through to stage 2 you get sat into another room where u wait for about another hour and a half. I found my friend I met in there meaning they had made it through as well which was exciting. You then go through to another room sit around a table of 2 "judge" type people who start a few group discussion questions with you to see who interacts how. They then make you state your age and occupation no names at the end they ask you to tell a life changing event or story of something you've observed. Only 3 people got through I was one of them. I went into the next room which again I found my friend in so that was pretty exciting that we randomly met that day and both progressed to round 3. In round 3 they take your photos like a mug shot with your number then you wait another hour or so and go into an interview with alex and another lady they ask you questions based on your registration form. My meeting seemed to be really successful and I was pretty confident that I would progress to phase two just on how my interview went with alex. It was the most PAINFUL 2 and a half week wait building it up in your head and not knowing what would happen. After waiting till 7pm as the form stated I didn't get the email which is really disappointing after how good I thought I went but as previously mentioned they are clearly after something very specific and it could just be that you are not what they're looking for this year. My "friend" did get the email.. wishing that person all the best hope they get through! Better luck next time for me!

dont they ask for your social media accounts? or do they just do that for the actual chosen HMs?

Wannabebb, was your new found friend there by themselves?

They didn't ask for mine.

My experience was similar to all those previously described. There was definitely an interest in mothers and 'older' people in the early rounds but I was the only 'older' person sitting around waiting for round 3 until just before I left when another older (looked older than me ) woman came in. I could really see the 'characters' of people who I sat with waiting for round 3. (jock, glamour, sporty but dumb glamour, dorky hilarious guy, etc)

Interestingly, I was asked if I had ever been cheated on and what I thought of the Tully drama.... It seemed to be a very deliberate question.

I would definitely try again if the opportunity arose and I learnt a lot about myself during the process. I am super excited to see if anyone I went through with ends up on screen.

Yes they auditioned alone as did I[DOUBLEPOST=1400118213][/DOUBLEPOST]

They don't ask for it but I'm sure with all your information it wouldn't be hard for them to track down if they wanted to

Gday Guys, hope everyone is well. Have read many posts about the audition process and I hope to shed more light on some areas of this year's process. I was Fast-Tracked two weeks' after I sent my video in. From there I attended the audition where upon arriving I was quickly ushered to a waiting room and sat with about 30-40 others. From there we were given tickets - think raffle types with a number. Once they were called a group of us about 9, I would say, were led to another room where we were sat in front of EP - Chris Blackburn and another casting producer - Jaala.

In this process they simply asked two questions: 1) Do you think it's okay to lie? 2) Tell us something that has happened to you over the past 24 hours?

Anyway, I answered these questions ( once the lady next to me shut up) and to my surprise myself and I'd say, 5 of the nine got through to the third round ( A meeting with Alex) - But before I discuss that some other observations; After the meeting with the two producers, myself and the others were taken to another room, where like has been previously mentioned your photo is taken up close four to five times before you sit back down. Soon after you are called to speak with Alex, who is sitting next door. Here I was also given a piece of paper which said along the lines of 'well done for making it this far, if we are interested in taking it further you'll receive an email invite by May 14, for another audition by the end of may.

While waiting to speak with Alex, I was observing who was around me.. there were about about 40 people constantly ticking over in this room, as more people made it to this round. I hate to burst the bubble, but what I saw was the same as what everyone has discussed; lots of blondes - lots of blondes with make up, short skirts, and well you get the rest - let's just say they were telegenic. Pathetic really. Conversely, there were cody simpson lookalikes, and most on a whole, were above average looking and the exact types you have seen in previous seasons. I noted there were only two older people (40+) waiting to see alex ( in my waiting time anyway)

It was a very weird situation. Sitting there in total silence, as you couldn't ask people their name, what they do for a living or anything of a personal nature. Which left most there sitting like mute gits. Anyway, after waltzing in to talk with Alex, he asked two distinct questions: Do you consider yourself a leader? 2) what did you think of Drew and Tully from last year?

he also commented on some finer points of my application... the chat wouldn't have lasted no longer than about 3-4 minutes. From there it was over and out. I'm one of the many who didn't receive that golden email last night, and that's totally okay. Would I audition again? who knows.
I will say this - I'm very convinced that BB producers already have bout say 6 or 7 people in mind from last year's auditions, who they kept in their pocket for this year - which would technically only leave around 8 0r so spots for people auditioning this year.

On top of that, if you were not Fast Tracked, and you simply rock up and go through rounds 1, 2 before you even get a shot with alex, you're totally up against it. Your chances are soooo remote it's ridiculous. The nationwide auditions are more purely for publicity and promotion as much as finding the 'right housemate' -

Anyway, regarding the process from here on: I came across this rather interested blog from a person who auditioned for UK BB - and got to the very end of the process. It's an extremely interesting and intricate explanation about what takes place in the later round of the audition process. Pardon this name www.famewhore.co.uk/big-brother

All the best everyone!

I don't really see what their outcome is with all their Drully questions. Are they hoping to recreate it? Shall be interesting, for lack of a better word, to see it play out come the new season.

I would not put it past Alex M to try and re-create something like that. It obviously got people talking about the show and increased the interest but trying to re create it would fail massively imo. They just need to continue to cast interesting characters and new stuff will occur that will increase interest and get people talking e.g. a massive villain who back stabs everyone.

It's interesting reading all of this. I have to say that the Australian casting process is quite frustrating. I didn't apply this year, but did last and made it to round 3, no further. The questions all seem to be relatively dead end and don't provide a deep insight into what a person is like. They really seem to go by stereotypes.

I have previously made the Top50 for another country's Big Brother. I won't divulge the version, as I don't want to jeprodise my chance of getting on the next season. The process was a lot more detailed. Even in what was referred to by producers as the 'semi-final rounds' (probably equivalent to round 3) they were conducting forty-five minute interviews with myself and other hopefuls. When I traveled for the 'final' interview stage we literally spent a week in lockdown, with full days of meetings with various people to really delve into the type of people that we were.

I'm not sure if the Sydney rounds for BBAU are like this, but everything leading up to the selection of that 150ish that Alex referred to seems like a very limited window of opportunity to really figure out what makes people tick. That being said, all of this makes me more excited for the non-Australian BB, because we were treated so amazingly well throughout the entire casting process and really made to feel a part of the show. Despite making it to the end of top 50 week, obviously I wasn't chosen as a housemate, but I'd definitely do it all over again because of the excellent experience that I had. BBAU...not so much.

they could be throwing in women that have been cheated on, and men who have cheated, and a massive villain. how do the mums fit in? all mums get cheated on?

...bbfan27... if you don't mind me asking you... (and please don't answer if you would prefer not to)... what sparked off your desire to audition for Big Brother in the first place?... I am just being curious... the reason being is that I am a 60 year old grandpa and I've had family and friends plus a few of my grandchildren encourage me to audition for Big Brother because basically they consider me to be a young-minded 60 year old that acts like a 20 year old fool all of the time... (like the 'Peter Pan of grandpa's' sort of thing)... they reckon that I'd be a hoot to watch on TV... (mind you... I myself believe that I have the mind-set of a 15 year old at heart so I'd be way too immature to go on a show like that... lol!)...

...the reason that I haven't is because obviously the producers aren't looking for 60 year old farts with a 'Peter Pan' complex to be on the show... but if Big Brother had been around when I was in my 20's... (the 1970's lol!)... I probably would have auditioned just for the laugh... I would've more than likely had a go because of a 'dare' from my mates at the time... not for the '15 minutes of fame' sort of thing but just for the 'shit-stir' element of it all... that would've been the thing that would've prompted me to do it at the time... hence the reason for my question...

...as I said... don't worry about answering if you don't wish to bbfan27... I'll understand if you're going to audition again in the future etc and don't want to give your reasons...

...the question is also open to any others that have auditioned before or are going to in the future too... again... I'm just curious... cheers.

Bb27 - they are good points - sitting in front of alex i thought how can you seriously make a judgement on me in 3 minutes? to me the process is shallow... hollow even.. completely agree about sterotypes. they are looking for 'tv talent' rather than 'real people' mark my words - when you see the housemates this year lets see who truly represents 'real Australia' among them....
