Post BB - Housemate Antics 2013

Am I the only one wondering if I should rethink some of the things I say in this forum and on social media? A lot of what is said in here is critical of someone. Are we haters/trolls? Not trying to criticize any of you, just really reeling over whats happened with this young woman and wondering if I need to make any changes.

I personally don't think you should rethink anything. This forum is for discussing BB and the HMs. Not to worship BB or the HMs. If everyone felt they had to filter what they said and could only post fawning comments in the fear a HM might choose to come here and see something negative, there'd be very few people posting even during the season. Trolling is actively abusing someone in their space. What's happening in here is no different than people sharing their opinions about politicians, etc. Imagine we couldn't say we don't like Tony Abbott or GWB or whomever else. May as well shut the entire place down if that's the case. We've always had an unwritten rule in here not to take negative comments to a HM's personal pages and that's as far as I'm going to go with it. I know how it feels to be trolled HARD on here, including in the JA thread, but I also have the option of reporting those people and letting the mods deal with it. On the flipside I also know how unenjoyable this place becomes when you're too scared to share your feelings because "someone somewhere" is looking to put words in your mouth and find offense where none was intended so they can cry victim. That's not how a discussion forum should be.

I'm of much the same opinion. that said, I haven't been trolled, but perhaps that says something about the general civility of this place. (Note I said general.)

Yes, there's nothing wrong with discussing HMs in an environment where they can choose whether or not to read.

I, personally, find the constant name calling and labeling of other posters far more problematic. Then again, I'm one of those who has been told to get out of this thread, so maybe I'm a little sensitive to being labeled a "meerkat" or accused of "Crying victim".

Then again, I can take pleasure in knowing I'm not a hypocrite, since I've called out people in the JA thread for calling people on twitter names like "stalker" and labeling them crazy, knowing full well there's a whole thread of people who do the same thing to us.

Society would be better off if we all took a moment to look in the mirror instead of rushing to proclaim our own superiority and justify our own actions and behaviors as being "different" from those we condemn.

like MrsB I would hate to have to pull back from stating an opinion in this forum - it is VERY different here that it is on fb, twitter & instagram. I think generally the people who regularly post here behave reasonably. Some of us (yes meeeee) have our moments over various HMs - but the difference as MrsB pointed out is that we don't take it to them on their twitter/fb/instagram ...if the HM's wanted to join up and come in here and read what we have to say they are quite welcome - and I think its safe to say they'd get a fair and reasonable audience

what really saddens me is reading about people going to Charlotte's sm pages now & still feeling the need to be hateful
I don't get that whole nasty mentality - who gets their jollies from that level of spite - are we (people in general NOT 'we' as a group in here) becoming dehumanised?

Add in the "ooh I'm too scared to post in that thread so I'll post passive-aggressive garbage in the only other active thread on the forum where it's still sure to be seen by those very people I profess to be afraid of" and I'd be more inclined to agree with you. I have been upfront for months now - going back to when BB was still on - that I do find much of the behaviour in that thread appalling. People going to a thread to give an opinion and when they don't like the response they receive running back there to whine about it instead of hashing it out in the relevant thread, people calling random girls Ed chooses to follow - girls who did not sign up for reality tv and all that comes with it - sluts and whores and yet then calling other people bullies if they dare say something about Jade, people slamming specific posters in here without having the balls to at least give their target the courtesy of a tag so they can be notified. I can go on but I think you get my point.
