That's the way I read it at the time as well but when everyone was blowing up I thought I must have missed something. I never took her jokes at Asian stereotypes or saying that she hated being Asian as meaning she hated Asians, but more she hates being Asian because of the way they're treated with the stereotyping.

I also think her doing the Asian stereotypes jokes in the house was a self-defense mechanism that she probably developed growing up. The whole "If I make the joke before they do it takes away some of their power to hurt me". My Korean friend that grew up in a very "white" society always did the exact same thing.

I think we'll have to agree to disagree on this one because I do think she was trying to send a good message here and that's hard for me to say because I'm certainly not a massive Mikkayla fan. Like [MENTION=37335]prufrock[/MENTION] said, it was a clumsy attempt, but for me it's the intent that matters and I do think she was trying to send a good message against stereotyping.

It's perfectly fine to talk about racist stereotypes. Especially if you're making light of them, even more so if you're making fun of the retards who believe in them. It's one way to take away the power of racist morons. Look at what things like "Wogs out of Work" did.

Having said that Mikkayla's attempt was weak and her singing sounded terrible. Didn't she sound better in the BB band challenge? Probably had a better producer or more use of auto tune back then.

The word user pops into my mind. But even I know that is not fair to say. Well good luck with this relationship. Hopefully he can end it sooner if it's not meant to be ;)

I didn't find it funny either.. I thought it was just a cliche, tryhard attempt to make a funny video (especially with the guy twerking). I don't get why she would say she is a "fake asian" when we all know she prides herself on her cooking and intelligence.. so doesn't that make her a real asian? seeing as she's highlighted their stereotypes.

In my opinion if you want to stop people from stereotyping then you have to stop taking the piss out of it or you just don't bring it up at all.

eughh I just find it all a mess, she's full of contradictions.
 
I couldn't even bring myself to listen to Mikkayla's song to be honest.
She seems a bit lost right now :(
