Is it? Shit I'm in trouble again! I've called my shoes wmd's whenever I've dug into my hardwood floors, my son's fingernails when he was a baby and I couldn't trim them properly and laugh when people refer to their body parts as them. I've also seen tv shows use it as a punchline ie a scrawny kid holding up his fists and referring to his wmd's against the school bully. Thinking about it, this is the first time I've ever heard mention that it was taboo.
 
Thank you all. I have enjoyed this thread immensely. But what do we really expect from "reality" contestants in 2013 and onwards?
Most are handpicked from the periphery of subsets of "connected" people. Some. Well they are "special". Actual terms used in the casting process.
A deliberate jig-saw we all enjoy. As long as we know it's a jigsaw for our entertainment.
Designed and manufactured for our entertainment.
And we know its edited. Like the social media lives of the contestants are edited. And designed. Without context.
Its dangerous to make character assessments from edited material isnt it?:confused:

Yes it is. Interestingly though, some housemates don't have the sense to edit themselves, which is both more entertaining and more disappointing.

sorry but what effort? the site hasn't yet gone live and they started talking about it about 3-4 weeks ago now - they should have had a week maybe 2 at most of the teasing and then LIVE store up and running without glitches

going to a Business Expo and picking up a few brochures doesn't seem like effort to me

they couldn't even wear decent shoes? god I hate thongs - they belong at the beach!

Agree - which is what I ineloquently tried to say by noting Tim and Tully were 'portraying themselves' as tossers. Without the editing from BB... Have they decided to edit themselves as nutters? Wierd !

don't get me wrong because I'm not thinking highly of Tim at the moment at all - but how many people go to Church at Christmas and don't for the rest of the year ... I'd hazard a guess at quite a few ... maybe his parents or sister or good friends go to Hillsong and he tagged along

he probably doesn't want the HillsonG tag to stick - it gets a lot of negativity from some quarters

starting to wonder if the trip with Ben will ever eventuate ... if I were someone who Tim was looking to use as the brunt of his humour to push his own brand further I don't think the promise of a free trip would persuade me to put my own name at risk of becoming a joke

Tim is getting his puppy today, wonder if it will be a Pomeranian? i am sure lots of doggie pics will be coming from him in the near future, but after he debuts it in a video. love Tim? love his dog, haha

I forgot to have a go at this last night so thanks for reminding me Mrs B. You can joke about anything. ANYTHING. I know you can come up with a bunch of horrible ideas, but in my mind (and many others) humour can't be constrained by "feelings".

For me it's a free speech issue so once you use "I'm offended" as a reason to blunt free speech, you're heading down a dark path.

I don't know about that. Just look at this forum alone for a representation. There's quite a few people who had been pretty big fans of his previously (myself being one of them) but are starting to turn off him due to his recent behaviour.

To be honest if he wants to continue going down this path then I hope he stops and decides it's what he really wants to do before he continues. He's treading a dangerous line. Yes doing this stuff will appeal to a lot of his fans and get him attention, but at the same time they'll be a lot who will turn off him for continually burning the people that actually give a shit about him in an attempt to get more attention from randoms.
