Oh yeah, Xavier?! Haha... Nah...if there was any other 'blogger' talking tripe about Tahan (or Xavier for that matter), it would have been picked up by the amazing SM detectives on this forum.

EDIT: and I mean that with the utmost respect... Some of you could be Intelligence agents!
She may actually have been referring to Anne Lu. She has taken every one of Leesa's negative articles against Tahan and David and basically reworded them to post on the IBT throughout the season and even added a few of her own. Just searching their site now, there were a few articles by her that I think even we missed at the time. But we did talk about her while the show was still on because people were saying how you'd never see something like that on a major news site so she appeared to be nothing more than a remote blogger hired to provide filler for their entertainment section.

The more that I think about it, I'm starting to think that could be it.

I guess there is a big difference in terms of liability between a privately operated blog and one that is affiliated with IBT or any official news site. I read a couple of Lu's articles and she is certainly a supporter of Little's POV.

I admit, I was also dubious about the endorsement of V8 Supercars, Bottle-O and other sponsors, when it came to offering 'prizes' for voting. All I could think was; what if one of the contestant's partners was a Telstra Team Manager (or such) and they were offering free credit to vote?! Just not sure there is a line in the sand with regards to how much outside influence should be allowed.

i am going to try this at home kiddies, next time i buy myself flowers, although that could not be until closer to Xmas. i am guessing the dollop is a teaspoon?

you sound like Consuela with her Lemon Pledge

All this talk of preserving flowers and framing rocks... I actually have a friend whose husband had her bridal bouquet freeze dried (or somehow preserved) and framed! It was about 10 years ago and it still looks beautiful. He trumped any future attempt at a romantic gift from his mates to their wives!

Yeah I was definitely leery of it all too. I always said that although I found it all tacky, it's not Tahan's or Ed's fault that her boyfriend happens to race cars or that Ed and his brother used to play footy so it's understandable that they'd do what they could to see their loved one win as all the other HMs families/friends were doing the same, just on a much lesser scale. On the other hand as a Tim fan, when it was getting down to crunch time and I was watching Tim's parents and friends do little promotion other than posting stuff on their FB page, I admit I was like how the heck can he compete with these contests and other stuff being done by people on the outside with already built in fan bases? Then again I remember questioning at the time when Nick took out that ad in the SA newspaper how many non BB fans would even be compelled to spend cash simply because an ex footy player was asking them to vote for an ex footy player who happened to be from there to win a tv show they don't even watch. So it's all a bit murky for me still.

I guess I just don't see an ideal solution to it. If they eliminate everyone who knows "someone" or has worked in/is trying to work in the industry then their potential pool of decent HMs would shrink dramatically as it takes a certain type of person even willing to go on BB these days, especially with all the scrutiny from social media. We saw that with even Drew when Estelle was coming out in support of him because she knows him and his sister and yet he's never worked in the media at all. I think the best thing that could've happened this year is the people who finished 1 and 2 didn't have any of that promotion going on for them so it kind of dispels how powerful any of that influence was from David, Nick or anyone else. Even though Tahan gained a crazy amount of fans as weeks went on, hell would've broken loose if she'd won.

The impression I got of the IBT articles was that they were just 'newsifying' fan chatter, some of it from this site. I don't think they would have had an actual point of view.

Would it really be so hard for the producers to require contestants to have their partners and families sign agreements to not offer or promote offers of goods or services as inducements to vote?

It works on all flowers. It depends on the size of the vase, but I'm all for a dollop. I don't know why it works, but it does, and if like me you prefer plain glass vases it's particularly good because it keeps the water clear.

The bleach kills the bacteria, I think, and sugar would feed the flowers.

I agree that there is no simple way to exclude potential HM's who may have Corporate connections. In saying that, the real question is, does any unaffiliated (with BB or Ch9) corporation or conglomerate really have any business aligning themselves with a particular HM without explicit, legal permission from the producers? If that does becomes the case, then we might just see 16 HM's in 2014 who all have a bloody sponsorship deal (as a favourable pre-requisite at auditions). Imagine that!

"Hi, I'm Mary and I'm with Team Garnier"... "G'day, John here... AUS Steel Homes"... "Caleb... Just do it!"

I see what you're saying, that both Jade and Tim had none of this forced hype or advertising in order to get them to the end. I hope BB can find a way around the unfair advantage that could potentially see a HM winning due to Corporate support.

tim dormer @timdormer
@DrewBB13 @tee_smyth hahaaaaa I wish they aired that! Then again, I wouldn't have won
Oh man, now I wanna know the back story to why Tully's rock has a black spot haha

I thought this too.

Explained!

timdormer: CrystalMastin65 I put bullet holes on all the rocks of people Evicted the week I nominated them...there were ALOT of casualties

i don't think it would really matter who any of the contestants are affiliated with, as we've seen from this year. Promote someone all you want but it's really only the people who give a crap about bb and watch it that will vote and no advertising will tear someone away from their chosen housemate. I don't think there is any company that will do too much to help an individual win, like spend a lot of money, so joe blow can pocket 250k. Or they could go back to vote to evict, which i like better anyway.

LOL that's hilarious....but I agree with him... I don't think that would have helped him with the public vote...
