Network Ten exec wishes they kept BB

If and if Channel 10 where to get BB back, it wouldn't be anywhere near what it was when it was first on Channel 10.

Let's be honest, I would hate for Kris Noble to return as EP.

Cause he hated this site and he hated me. Oh those days. Wonder what every happened to him. (Evil laugh)

Alex isn't anti BBBA, he only wants the best for BB. He can only do so much but the longer ch9 have BB, the more he can get to do more with it.

Everyone get over it. UGH Ten days will NEVER return! We should be thanking Nine for bringing the show back. This BBAU or no BBAU!

Nine do a better job then ten because back when ten had it it was so trashy. Now it is actually watchable.

Thankyou Nine for some great seasons. Final word, GET OVER IT OK!!

LOL, way to overreact. There is a nice civil conversation going on about the merits of 9 vs 10. I'm not really sure why you felt the need to explode like that.

And... if Channel 10 aren't over it, I'm not sure why we should be anyway :)

Oh and yes, it is much more watchable now than it often was in the past, but we have a much less real picture of what goes on in the house. That's the most difficult thing for me, especially now as I learn that Jade/Ed was edited to portray Jade as being much more stalkerish than she actually was (as in showing her in the judge task quizzing Ed, but not showing that it was retaliation for him quizzing her in the same way). We have a show now that is watchable, likeable, but the viewers really only ever see exactly what BB wants us to see. I don't like that. But I WILL keep watching :)

No need to be rude about it! What's your problem?

milo-bbau I think you'll find this was just a hypothetical discussion based on some comments made by someone who actually works at Channel 10. We all know how much you wanted BB back next year, this is pretty much the same thing... we're just speculating about what it would be like if it were on Channel 10! Relax, it's all meant to be fun.

I have to agree (in a nicer way haha) They're called the 'good old days'! They're in the past, and they're not coming back. *sigh
Channel 9 are doing fine, and i think they will get better as they learn more and more about what their audience want. *cough* live feeds

You both know that I am happy with the Nine version! I have been a big supporter.

However, I started this thread to discuss the fact that TEN would probably take it back if available (and I stress that it is not available), and they now feel like it was a bad choice to let it go.

Channel Ten made a bad call in not getting BB back, all Ten do is make bad calls (The Shire).

I am actually enjoying the Channel nine version this year, hated last year though.

yep the last few years they have been nothing but a train crash! I'm not sure how long it can last without bagging any success. Their Wake Up show got 28k viewers this week against Sunrise's almost 400k

I think ten should stop creating new formats and bring back old ones. its been working for nine and seven!
im crossing my fingers that SYTYCD does well, just cos i kinda feel bad for ten. they gave us our fav show, now they're in the crapper!

They made stupid decision after stupid decision, they made their bed and now they are laying in it. They used to be the most profitable even though they never won the weekly ratings battle (due to strong performance in the demos and ability to monetise their shiny floor concepts.)

That being said, I think it would be a bad thing for FTA competition if they switched off. So I too hope that they can make a turn around. They need to get back on top of ABC!

Channel 10 should shut up and return Idol.

Good talent was always from there (Guy Sebastian, Ricki Lee, Callea, Mauboy, Noll, etc).

Seriously, they should, before channel 7 or something resurrects it. And then they'd complain how envious they are for the other channels bringing it back.

I don't care what channel it's on and long as it's on. Was angry that ten canned it for so many years. But least there's hope for it to still keep going if nine ever cans it and if Ten wants it back.

I agree. Aust. Idol always brought out the best talent.

The only thing I loved about Big Brother on channel 10 was Friday Night Live.

One of the things that I love about Idol is that it is raw talent. But that is probably the very reason why the other talent shows took over.

Auditions was the singer in front of the judges, not on stage and no band, lighting etc. then the live shows again just has the singer with a band or backing track but no massive productions with back up dancers on stage props, fireworks etc.

The format is probably seen as boring now, but I think when it's stripped back the singers have nothing to hide behind. On X factor and others it doesn't *really* matter if you can't sing, they can hide it behind the production.

Hamish McLennan who has been in charge at TEN for the last 7 months says:

Now I have often said that TEN wouldn't be interested in taking it back, seems as though I was wrong.
No chance of NINE letting it go any time soon but I need to publicly apologise to those I shot down when they speculated that ten would take BB back. :o

I love BB don't get me wrong but the show has been in the hands of fools for so long and I'm fairly certain with the direction BB has been moving the general mass of viewers want more than just a bunch of people living in a house...

So called knock-offs of established reality shows have been popping up more and more over the last few years and I've always said that if TEN really wanted BB back they should try something new with the format... Perhaps something along the lines of a hybrid BBUS style format that will incorporate some "I'm a Celebrity..." style viewer participation and live tasks...

ABC (US) launch glass house to mixed reviews the summer before last and having gone and watched the show I didn't think it was all that bad... The problems were mainly in the execution and scheduling... I'm sure had they brought it back with an expanded schedule, expanded live feed, and tweaked the format slightly it might have actually rated better than the tragic mess that was BB15...

TEN should really work with Shine Australia to rework John De Mol's Golden Cage format and air it in BB's traditional winter slot...

X Factor isn't about "singing" necessarily that's what makes it different... It evolved out of Pop Idol because the show really wasn't finding genuine pop talent...

TBH I think the idea of the talent show is dead right now... The market is too over-saturated with them and over the last few years very few have actually produced anyone that is actually selling records en-mass...
