I totally see where you are coming from. I find the human side of the whole thing fascinating, but here's the thing - celebrities are human of course but none of them last in the star game if they can't play it properly. I know that I personally wouldn't survive as I'm too fragile. It's a tough business and I've been a keen observer for a long time. There's a whole lot of charm required and a massive amount of talent. Where talent lacks, irresistible charm is needed and where charm lacks A WHOLE LOT of talent is needed. This is where I could see straight trough Ed, I could see his conditioning for fame but due to the reality side of BB he came across as non genuine, he didn't know how to present himself in a natural way and his AFL star wasn't big enough to carry him. See, they have to play it cool, like they don't care, but every action is chosen to make it look that way. It's such a fine line, and this is why publicists and a team of other media professionals are absolutely invaluable. It's show business out of the BB house, it's not about reality anymore.
