Tim "staining Ed's image"

Just saw on the O/S about how Ed told him that he thought Tim was trying to "stain his image". WILL SOMEONE GET ME A BUCKET!!!??? Ed has nothing but EXACTLY THAT to Tim for weeks...the newspaper "housemate diary" article, "what a terrible friend", "he wants to take me down", "he's manipulating everyone", boo f'ing hoo I could go on and on all day. Perhaps if Ed had spent his time in the house actually having a personality, instead of upholding the 'image' pre-concocted by him and his clan, he wouldn't be shitting his panties now!

*applause* Well said! He is staining our ears with his relentless drivel. SO BORING! YAWNN... As good as he is to look at, he adds nothing to my life. Tim and Drew are full of beans and keep things interesting. Ed is just a jealous, paranoid, terrible strategist.

What I found interesting was an interview with Alex M where he said that, given the depth/breadth of the BB audition process and all the layers involved, the amount of talking/discussion they have to do etc..."there isn't a single boring person who goes into the house". Hmm...using that logic, Ed either grossly over-acted how "talkative"/"outgoing"/"exuberant"/"interesting" he is when auditioning, or he has been deliberately holding back his personality in the house. Or both, perhaps?

Everyone can seem interesting if you want them to. Ex-AFL footballer, good looking guy - immediately "interesting" in a casting situation. They always need a heartthrob!

It goes back to Ed being the kind of guy that thinks he's wonderful and just deserves people to like him.

With guys, pulling the whole footy card and get them to care and like him. With chicks his whole good looks, ripped body and 'nice guy' attitude. Which probably helps him with guys as well.

He doesn't associate with people that don't automatically like him and worship him. He wouldn't give them time of day in the real world. He'd just move on or not be around people that aren't so superficial and vapid. So he is really out of his comfort zone in the house. This really is a big untold story because the narrative and perception of jock types like him on TV never shows this side to the lives they lead.

It's all just, yeah they're awesome great people. Living great lives. That's why people are always 'shocked' when a footy player gets caught doing something retarded. It should be expected, but the industry around it is about people bringing kids into competitive sports as participates and viewers for life. Big bucks to be made for that. You have to get them young though.

So this marketing idea of 'sportsmanship' that footy is meaningful, that it creates well rounded people suited for great lives is just a marketing ploy. In mass media it serves them to just run with this narrative. When really sports star jocks are just pampered idiots, who get a huge amount of praise for very little. Think they're amazing and untouchable and so lie, cheat womanise and all sorts of horrible things as a result.

Anyway....

The problem with Tim in the house is that Ed knew Tim would never fall for any of this superficial shit and that Ed has nothing else to offer. So Tim was an enemy. He stood out like this from the get go with Ed. Now that his group and team is down to two, he's blaming Tim more and more. He can't comprehend how he isn't the most popular and loved person in the house. So there for Tim has to be to blame.

Jade is actually quite similar to Ed with regards to this. Except she goes emotional when people don't like her. When she can't comprehend she isn't the blond princess getting what she wants and thinks she deserves. Where as Ed goes paranoid crazy but stays more composed.

Mik was similar also but was lead on by Eds paranoia and probably was manipulated a bit into having a confrontation with Tim. The only possible way Boog couldn't love and be besties with her was because Tim had poisoned the well and made her dislike her.

There's no actually accounting of ones self or self realisation. Tim has been very vocal and honest about his opinion and game playing. That the've constructed a fantasy level to it. To explain why they aren't doing better. As they could never face the fact that maybe they aren't as universally well loved as they think.

Tim is a stain.

Great post!

up_all_night You are so right on with your description of Ed and his sense of entitlement! Here's a comment from one of Ed's biggest supporters on the Lower blog - it goes along well with your description of Ed's perception of himself and his affiliation with professional sports. (If I ever meet this Greg guy, I think I'll just punch him in the face and keep walking)...

Hey Milly, must be hard seeing others judge your brother on national tv!

At the end of the day, your family ought be extremely proud of Ed as he has acted with everyones best interests at heart. I was unsure where things were going there for a while with Ed with regards to Jade & his sense of fun being lost to the politics of the house. I have felt recent episodes have proven my belief in Ed correct…he is a man of enormous honour & integrity. I won't dwell on why as the last few episodes do all the talking for me.

For what its worth, I'd like to share some insights with you & the public about a conversation I recently had with a high profile industry personality who knows Ed well from his playing days. When Ed's name came up, this person said to me; "Ed's the type of guy you want in your team……he has enormous courage, determination & loyalty to those he cares about. Ed's character & values typifies the person we look for when recruiting players….plus he's just a great guy to be around".

You see Milly, its unfortunate the voting public don't always appreciate the values Ed personifies in their pursuit to be entertained. Of course Ed has made mistakes in the BB house but has he learnt anything about himself? It's mine & others view that Ed has learnt an inordinate amount about himself as you can see it. He's so much more sure of his inner beliefs now that he appears to back himself more than when he first entered the house. Ed's such an analytical guy that may sometimes analyse things to much…..trust your instincts & back yourself.

Ed may not win BB because the viewing public appear to resonate more with court jesters & potty humour, but Ed will leave the house with the utmost respect of the people who really matter…..his industry pears, family & friends.

We are determined to help keep Ed in the house for another week given the awful character assassination that's been directed at Ed by Tim, Tahan, Boog & particularly Drew…..we thought Drew was so much better than that but has been so off base with his comments & just comes across full of bitter jealousy towards Ed.

Boogs mum may think Ed's wasted his time in the house but we don't see how her daughter weeing on plants on national tv as any better.

Oh, & by the way, we've also got Jade's votes well covered this week……someones got to watch Ed & Jades back given the disgraceful crap the others are dishing their way.

*UGH… IS THIS GUY FOR REAL???

After reading through that dribble all I could think at the end is yes, "his industry pears" and the author above belongs in the produce department at the Market with the rest of the fresh fruits and veggies.

(in the US we call that area produce. Not sure if you use the same term)

That's obviously written by a family member. Please let Ed leave this week!!

So much of that sports talk bullshit in there. 'Integrety' ect.

It's all meaningless. There's always such low barriers and qualification. It's part of the myth about sportsmen. Meaninglessness words from the Rolodex of describing how wonderful sportsman are.

It's like whenever you see someone giving a speech about a sportsman on the tv. 'He was a true legend on and off the field.' That kind of meaningless crap.

"disgraceful crap"? "character assassination"? As I merely alluded to in the first post (and I could reel out many more examples), that's EXACTLY what Ed has been doing to Tim!!! The difference between Tim/Drew & Ed is that Tim/Drew merely call the facts as they see them - pretty accurately in my opinion. SpEd, on the other hand, tries to directly influence the public with his OPINION and PERCEPTION of Tim ie not the truth, not the facts. Tim is NOT a "bully", nor is he more manipulative than Ed, a "terrible friend", bad person etc etc I think that this Greg fellow just has his knickers in a knot because the things we say about Ed (based purely on his own actions/words) don't mesh with the squeaky-clean 'image' he and his cronies are trying to portray. The only accurate thing that idiot said was the bit about Ed's values/personality not being entertaining. Goes back to what was said in another thread about the fact that just because you're a nice/decent/honest/good person DOESN'T make you entertaining or worthy of winning...and just because you're not entertaining doesn't make you a bad person.

I'm at a loss to comprehend how an inoffensive relatively bland housemate that's holding back from showing his full personality can elicit such vitriol and emotional response. It's bizarre quite frankly, if I didn't know any better you'd think the dude was worse than Ben12 who sadistically took pleasure in psychologically bullying another housemate. Bizarre, have no other word for it.
