confused about Ben

You should be proud babyblueeyes. Your efforts derailed a cunning housemate's plan to win BB, that's not too shabby.

I think the eviction pretty much proved what we were saying about Ben all along.

Mr cry at the drop of a hat, at any potential that people won't like him. Was calm, composed and acting up for everyone as he left. Never has a housemate this season been so focused on the crowd. Performing for them. Taking ages coming down the gangway. While in the interview. He was completely performing. The ben we saw in the house would have been balling his eyes out at being evicted. At the video packages and everything.

He also flat out denied the stand up comedy thing. Which we know was something he did.

I agree and do think he was authentic but he was definitely 'performing' for the camera in the house and so blatantly on the eviction stage.

But I also felt all along he wouldnt win...

I don't think the stand up thing means anything. We don't know the story behind it - he is a naturally funny guy (even if it is an act), maybe while he was working it came up and he was confident enough to have a go, but later losing his job kind of destroyed that confidence a bit?

Although it is strange that during the LOL task it didn't come up, but that could be another BB crisis control strategy - he might have mentioned it, but the producers etc thought that people may think they put him in for ratings so they conveniently kept it underwraps.

There use to be a section on the Jump-In app with the housemates's profiles - with Ben's being the first and highlighted one and where everybody else's was tiny and on the bottom and you had to click on them...

Now that Ben's gone, that section's been removed, kinda like: "Well, we only put that there to put Ben in the spotlight. Now that he's gone, there's no use for it anymore!"

I didn't hear his radio interview but from what i was told he's still replying to any questions with "I'm just Ben from Brisbane"
His new twitter and fb accounts are "Ben from Brisbane" it's like confirming that's the name of the character he's playing

Yeah, I really disliked that interview. When he answered Sonia's questions, he kept turning to face the audience. He seemed to love the attention and he didn't look nervous at all, even though when he was leaving the house, he kept saying he was very nervous. When he denied having done stand-up comedy, I was wishing that he would just admit it and say that he found that it wasn't for him, because the way he denied it and said he's "just Ben from Brisbane" made him seem even more fake. It was a very uncomfortable interview to watch. I don't dislike him as a person but I'm glad he won't be the winner.

I totally agree!

Just to clear up any confusion, when you say "wonderful people", you mean internet stalkers, yes?

Have some of you never heard of a multi-dimensional personality? Moods are meant to be interchangeable, it is not a diagnosis for bipolar, it is normal behaviour. Some of you people in here must have personalities that are as bland as porridge not to understand this basic fact. And as for being 100% genuine, apart from Jesus, who is? I for one can tell you, when I say I am happy to see you and I ask how you are, I really am not happy to see you and I don't give a fuck, this = non genuine! Welcome to the real world.

Thanks for posting that TraLa. I agree, and would like to add that I'm not the same person I was 6 years ago, shit happens to us all and changes us - for better or for worse. Also, I may interact one way with one person, and another way with the next. It all comes down to level of comfort with said person. Really people, are you the same all the time?

Well, I guess you can just look at Ben and tell that he's had a bit of adversity in his life...

I wish he had learnt how to deal with them in a more healthy way and live a better life.

Good luck to him.

And I wish all the strength to people going through tough times. I, too, have been through a lot of serious stuff and I can still power through! :-) There's always hope.

Feeling down? Talk to someone <3

Though I say "Amen" to all you had to say there, I have to add that when in the midst of depression, it FEELS like there is no hope. I'm glad that Ben had Tim and Drew in that house and hope they maintain a frienship out of it. (note, not saying Ben is depressed, not a doctor, just see some of the signs there)

Was Jesus really genuine though? I heard he faked his own death. :p

Consuela, I take my proverbial hat off to you once again. You made me laugh out loud at work, indeed, it was a snlaugh - yes, I snorted.... Well done Sir!

libliblibby mmm. i guess it comes down to your core character with how you deal with it all ;-)

I do agree with pretty much everything you said, but i started this thread before Bens past was discovered. It was someone reading it that went and did done 'snooping' lol

None of it explains why he would ignore the questions... If it was just one or two gigs that are now in his past why not just laugh it off as nothing?

I love Ben, but i really am now convinced he went on big brother to get himself known, to further or pursue a career in comedy.....not that that makes him any different to pretty much any one else who goes on the show except most don't try to hide it

Perhaps :)

He's gone now, and though I loved watching him, this time next year, I'll be "Ben? Oh, yeah, Ben... that's right..." lol

I agree..

I've seen a few people assume that Ben has depression and while I'm not disputing it we are all different
I'm currently going through treatment (meds and therapy) for depression, anxiety and OCD...i personally don't see any of that in Ben

Perhaps :)

Hahaha
I don't think so, the guy is hilarious i think (well maybe hope) we will see a lot more of him :)

I could see you were a fan of his, if I come across as frustrated in that post (which I did not mean too), it was not at you, just at the general "he is an actor" theme that has been played out the last few weeks.

I read that he explained it after as being something he did to help with the grieving process after his Dad died. I don't really remember much about the next 2 years after my Dad passed away. I got up each day, went through the motions, but I didn't really live. I know this sounds lame, but maybe he just didn't think it was that much a big deal, had kinda forgotten about it? I dunno. I've done some stuff that was huge at the time that I can't remember now, but I am putting myself in his shoes and that's not fair to everyone else.

What ever the truth maybe, I feel he had been himself, up and down, goofy, eccentric and I enjoyed watching him. However, cruel as this may sound (and it's not meant to be) I will forget him soon, like so many housemates before him that I enjoyed.

Me too, but historically, the HM's that find success usually go into radio and stick close to home, so I think Benny is sailing off into the sunset, waving good bye to me ;)

It was in another thread. A link to him being directly asked him about the stand up in an interview. He made some claim like he once went to an open mic poetry event.

So he's definitely being deceptive and lying about it.
