Jade 2013 Appreciation thread

I'm going to somewhat defend Ed (and Jade) here.
One thing that I noticed while rewatching episodes/clips during the live feed blackout last weekend is that Jade and Ed are almost never shown talking together unless it's to make Jade look like a lovesick fool. The narrative about their relationship is driven almost entirely by other HMs, whose opinions are seldom unbiased. Any time Ed has spoken positively about their relationship, it's not shown, we've only heard about it second hand. For example, we've known about this date thing for a week now, not because they've shown Ed talking about it but because the others discussed it (and not in a positive way!)

I don't for a second think Ed is in love with Jade, but I do think he cares about her far more than has been let on and I think the relationship within the house is probably more healthy than people suspect. There is a mutual support that comes naturally to them and I think if Jade could have let go of the future question and simply stayed within the present, we wouldn't be cringing constantly on her behalf.

That's absolutely right, BB cuts footage in so many pieces at irregular intervals and makes them both look like fools. They disn't even show the rest of the footage after the Garden of Eden where Ed tells her what Surly made him do. I notice the camera ventures out of the room and then comes back at the end when he's done explaining. I mean WOW. I'm actually starting to think the reason Ed gets no air time is now BB's fault, how many other times did Ed come to the diary room to confess things and we did not see him? I wonder... and I don't understand what all this means. Did this happen to other housemates when there was a full house, not everyone got their fair go of air time?

Clearly he does care for her if he's been asking BB for that an entire week (numerous times according to what BB had said) but it just killed me when she told him "I know you might not wanna hear that but it's true" (at keeping him on the outside) and he just grunted in response - that I can't deny was made more awkward by him with a grunt. I don't know if we can win this war if the production team is going to keep going with this

I went back on some of the early footage from the beginning and Ed was close by and sitting next to her even when she was supposed to be married. All the hoo ha with the cool group going against her (Matt, Heidi etc) he kept his distance but took his opportunity under the guise of alcohol on a Friday night. He likes her and has always liked her. How much who knows.
I have said before they were in the GOE for 2 hours. Surl's antics only went with each course.
Liked the way she pushed him off the BB chair.

In regards to this, i dont think he even heard her first comment but was too tired to ask her to repeat it all. Sad though :(

Her Dad lives in Italy and her mum in Aus. I'm pretty sure he's engaged to someone else

He hardly seems to speak english though. Her mum is aussie so how did they communicate? Her mum probably speaks Italian or maybe Jade is a result of a fling. Her parents just seem from two different worlds. Alrighty, it's getting too late.

There also could have been more conversation but BB ended it after she said I know you don't want to hear it.

He will not openly commit while on TV . He would have the media hounding him constantly. he will want to keep his private life private. he is too media savvy because of his football days.

Did anyone actually watch him, or knew who he was from his football days? I had never heard of him but then I dont follow the game.

I am an AFL supporter and saw him play. Unfortunately injuries took their toll on him. If you google his name if you are interested you will find quite a bit about him.

Well I am very late to this thread and admittedly did not read all, but I do think that BB dislike Jade or something. We call it de pispaal. It feels like the producers do no like her and are doing their very best to bash her. Like purposely trying to make Ed fall for another woman, and the way they indeed are editing. (I did read Jane Doe's post and agree)

ell that and now the date. He finally asks her but they will not give her a normal date. No they are trying to embarrass them both. haha funny. well not anymore. too much.

Her dad posted that pic of Jade. Georgeous, she´s got like natural red hair :o

In the vid Jades love Life when talking to Maddie and Boogs on the island during the task, she says that Ed said "how can I get to know you when you don't let yourself be vulnerable".
In the conversation, both Madeline and Jade said that a comment like that scares them, and it's actually quite understandable. Being vulnerable means risk and that's incredibly scary, especially in the BB house.

It's interesting how everyone talks about Ed and Jade being too reserved, too worried about saying or doing the wrong thing, and then they, and BB, spend a great effort trying to manipulate them through any cracks in that reserve. It makes one wonder, which came first, the guardedness or the manipulation? It seems like their perceived necessity to remain at least outwardly invulnerable comes from a wise place.

Both Ed and Jade were well aware that the house and BB were waiting for the female intruders to cause problems between them. Tim, Tahan, and Drew were practically cackling at the prospect. Yet all three of them have complained about how difficult it is to get to know Ed and Jade because they remain distant... gee, I wonder why?? On the other hand, those that have come from a different place have found at least Jade to be a warm, caring, giving person. Demanding openness is nearly impossible, but offering a safe environment in which people can feel comfortable letting their guard down can gain you a friend for life.

You know what it's like. When you start liking someone in a group of friends, the other's unwittingly or deliberately sabotage. Hence, why the others were like "talk about weddings, talk about baby names". Single people do that. That stuff makes you recoil from committing. You need to get away from peers and these bastards have no choice.

It was easier for Tully and Drew. Tully being completely fucking insane and all with her Borderline/Narcisstic Personality Disorder and all. They just kept denying anything was going on and concealed it apparently quite well. Tully knows how to do this shit. And she knows how to play men and women even easier. Wonder who she's fucking now.

The peer behaviour didn't help but it's not the reason Ed won't commit. I warmed a LITTLE the past week to Ed but given his hideous family background, I can't expect too much from the guy. He's probably the best of the Lowers but still a cad. He probs comes from a long line of cads with good bone structure.

Drew and Jade are in the same situation in the house. Their faux partners were just that. Faux. Neither Tully nor Ed committed and that made them insecure as Jade and Drew are similar inasmuchas they both are loyal types that fall in love easily and express it readily. Another reason they should be together ;) apart from their obvious chemistry. Jade and Drew are both gullible too.

I think re: BB's mocking of Jade may be a little overstated. Even though Alex is a misogynist and is milking Jade's behaviour for entertainment I suspect there's a little piece that wants Jade to realise, through that date, that Ed can act, say any old shit and she will buy it. I think the elbow lines etc was to wake her up. See honey! See how easy it is for him to string you along...

DRADE FOREVA (in my head anyway - such a tragedy)

This is exactly why i'll support Jade till the end. This poor girl has done nothing, absolutely nothing to warrant the shit that is constantly thrown at her by the other housemates and the producers.

Ed is playing her terribly and will probably survive again thanks to the producers. Ugh.

Why would Tahan and Boog seriously be wondering why Jade is so insecure in the house? Perhaps because all anyone does is bitch and laugh about her. Honestly I swear tonight it was non-stop. I'm getting horrific flashbacks to the way Estelle was getting treated last season and that's saying something.

Oh and you dodged a bullet Drew? No me thinks that was Jade. Jealous nasty bitch. He's the worst seriously.

I really want to vote for Drew and Tahan to get Ed out but they really are making it difficult for me to spend my money on them.

Agree with all of this! (although i think Estelle's treatment last year was far far worse)

The only airtime Tahan got last night was her bitching about Jade. At least Jade doesn't claim to be perfect like Tahan, because if i didn't know better, the one who spends all her time putting down the other housemates is also the one thats insecure?

And what's with her constantly reminding us that Ed doesn't actually like Jade (at least once an episode). Jealous much? And how about letting Jade know about it then rather than laughing at her behind her back!

I think people also need to remember that Surly/Alex also tried to help Jade a few weeks ago by telling her to play it cool with Ed and back off a bit. The whole make him chase you for once thing. Jade fans on the forum were really appreciative of that at the time and Jade dislikers were crying favouritism... as in "Alex obviously loves Jade and wants her to stay. Why else would he be trying to help her out when he knows most of Australia is laughing at her and is sick of seeing her stalk Ed?"

So either Alex has Jade's back or he doesn't. Can't have it both ways. And in my opinion, which I realise doesn't count for much, he was trying to send a very big signal to Jade but since she didn't listen to him the first time, I can't see it having any impact at all now. She's too far gone at this point. Complete write off.

Agreed Mrs B!!

Oh ok BB editorial at least is with me.

Don't forget BB had invested that something might happen between Drew and Jade, their little experiment with the faux marriage.

How prophetic that was in the end...

I loathe Tully and dislike Ed. It would make my day/week/month for Drew and Jade to snap out of their fake relationships and have a real one... with each other. They bring out the best in each other.

Drade rant end.

The thing is though she DID back off a fair bit after Surly got in her ear. After that though all of Ed's friends that were telling him not to go there were gradually evicted and he started getting closer to her and giving her more and more signs that he was keen. Surly told Jade that she should play it cool for a bit and he'd show more interest. She did play it cool for a bit and Ed started showing more interest in her. I think it's because the likes of Heidi and that were gone but still Jade took his increased interest in her a sign and went with it. I don't think it's fair to cut her to pieces for not following Surly's advice when she did for quite a long time and only became more obsessive over Ed once he started to show more and more interest in her.
